  1. I still cannot, for the life of me, figure out why the murders of transgender poeple are NEVER immediately thought to be, believed to be, speculated that or suspected of being, a hate crime - only statements are made like (paraphrasing), "officials have not commented on whether the murder will be investigated as a hate crime," or "it's unknown if this will be concidered a hate crime," or "the murder is not being investigated as a hate crime at this time," etc., etc., etc.. Even in murders where their is unmistakable, viciously brutal over-kill, no one will even say, "this looks like a hate crime." It's like they go total stupid about it. I don't get it. 27 February 2017 | by Stefanie Gerdes "At least one news station – New Orleans’ WWL-TV – misgendered her, and a number of others used Chyna’s dead name." --gaystarnews.com Performer shot down in New Orleans is fifth trans woman to be killed in the US this year
  2. Jay Sorgi Jan. 23, 2013 - Updated Jan 25, 2013 "MILWAUKEE - Five suspect now face murder charges in the disappearance case of Ebony (Evon) Young. "Billy Griffin, 28, Ashanti Mcalister, 18, and Victor Stewart, 27, each now face murder charges. They previously had been charged with substantial battery. "Ron Allen, 37 of Milwaukee, and Devin Seaberry, 23 of Milwaukee, were charged Wednesday after an investigation into the disappearance of Young." --todaystmj4.com Five suspects now charged with killing missing transgender rapper (w/Video)
  3. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 "FONTANA, Calif. — A transgender woman was found murdered in her Southern California apartment on Tuesday, with evidence of a violent struggle." --lgbtqnation.com Transgender woman who appeared in online reality series found murdered (w/Video) _____________________________ I realize not every crime against someone from the TGLB community is a hate crime, but if someone was hurt due to hate, then it should be addressed. I find it mind-boggling how it seems that everytime a [trans]person is murdered, the first thing out of authorities (after they mis-gender the victim), is that it was not, or is not believed to be, a "hate crime." I realize that authorities must and should work with facts, but in this case they have no motive yet (or there was no motive at the time of this article), so if they have no motive, how can they say yet whether this woman's murder was a hate crime or not? <scratching head>
  4. Transgender Latin Americans face violence, bigotry Reuters AlertNet Transgender Latin Americans face violence, bigotry. A transgender sex worker looks waits for customers on a street in Tegucigalpa, Honduras... I'm not exactly sure why they had to use a transgender sex worker (as opposed to perhaps a transgender community volunteer) to illustrate their story. I suppose transgender people are so marginalized that the sex workers tend to become synonymous. That is a sad reality for many, even in more "civilized societies." But in any event, the statistics are alarming and unacceptable. I hope a focus on human rights will lead to a better life for our transgender brothers and sisters in these countries. ~ Lori
  5. Is Arty Shaw, the hero of Black Art, a new novel released today, the world's first FTM detective? http://www.journalis...ow/s66/a550927/ ***** Intensely gripping and fascinating this complex mystery is a spectacular historical masterpiece! If TGGuide readers would like to purchase a copy, they can get it here: http://www.createspace.com/3990417 And, if you enter discount code: R4WTX3TZ when you order, you get $2 off. If you would like the Kindle version then it can be purchased through Amazon. This is the Amazon US link, but it is listed on all Amazon sites (UK, FR, DE, IT, ES, JP, etc): http://www.amazon.co...51761646&sr=8-5 And, finally, if you would like a different ebook format (for Apple, Sony, etc readers) then it can be purchased through Smashwords here. Smashwords have been a bit slow about doing their stuff and shipping it to the Apple/Sony/B&N stores so you’ll need to use their link for now. “Black Art” should be in those places in the next 10 days or so: http://www.smashword...ationpublishing (Scroll to the bottom of the page) All the links above can be found on the publisher's website: www.liberationpublishing.co.uk

  7. This article is another one of those that can't seem to get pronouns straight. I had to read the article twice before I really understood who was who and who did what. -dml Submitted by Tenessa Jennings, Community Web Producer Friday, July 13th, 2012, 11:22am "Officers arrested a Chapin man after he threatened another man, who lives the lifestyle of a woman, with a crowbar, sheriff’s deputies say.
