I find it mind-boggling how it seems that everytime a [trans]person is murdered, the first thing out of authorities (after they mis-gender the victim), is that it was not, or is not believed to be, a "hate crime." I realize that authorities must and should work with facts, but in this case they have no motive yet (or there was no motive at the time of this article), so if they have no motive, how can they say yet whether this woman's murder was a hate crime or not? <scratching head>
