Ms Lori thank you I guess, my psychiatrist asked me to read the other version I think #6....Loads of fun ....no pictures.
It figures I just finish reading one, and the new one is released......my luck....ya!

I downloaded the Standards of Care and started to read it and found it most interesting, it will take awhile  to finish thanks for providing it.

I think one of the most important things to be learned from the SOC is that, as it has always been, it is a guide only.  So when your therapist (or other health professional) mandates that you must live a year (or longer) in your true gender before you can get on HRT*, ask why.  If your therapist (or other health professional) makes any demands not supported or suggested by the SOC, you should find out why if s/he has not already explained his/her actions.  And if your therapist (or other health professional) causes you to continually question his/her motives...  maybe it's time to find another one.

Luckily, most often...a therapist experienced in gender identity issues understands all this and the biggest thing a person has to contend with is whether there is a good patient/therapist relationship.

If you are going to brave the trip with a therapist who is not experienced, but is willing to feel his/her way along the path with you, then you should probably know the SOC inside and out, or at least learn along with the therapist.

*Unfortunately, there is probably no getting around this in the UK.

I had that thing read and digested as it came out , I found it interesting as to the multiple issue changes within it , I also was a bit conforted by the aspects of it ( This go round ) being consulted and referenced by actual Trans men and woman and also those with Gender variances . I find it a bit courious though that it could go from a 28 page document to a 128 page one with references back to years prior studies and editions of the soc .

Oh well I guess if your going to get down to it there will never be an easy way to say Hey , help those in need of help , strengthen Mind Body and Spirit with any means available to medical and Psychological treatments ... Sorry a bit of sacasm there , I will give them an A for effort and a C for over all subject matter in regaurds ...
