"...the medical journal Pediatrics...indicated that a growing number of teens and even younger kids are experiencing gender identity disorder." -"Clinic for TG kids," cbslocal.com
Are there more people experiencing gender identity issues? Or have social changes in how children are raised, and the availability of information enabled more to come out than compared to 50, 40, 30 and even 20 years ago?
I am more inclined to believe it's the latter. Amazing how some, even in the medical world, seem bound and determined to refuse to admit that GID and/or TG/TS issues are not something new. And now, it is almost as if they realize had they stuck with and supported the treatment of GID instead of letting politics bury it back in the late 60's and early 70's, we'd be better off...and now they are trying to play catch-up under the guise of, "oh, what's this? We didn't know about this. We should do something." Problem is, by most of the medical world turning it's back on GID under pressure of society, they made room for the stigma to take root, grow and get out of hand.
