If equating gays to murderers wasn't bad enough...

Nick Wing, Huffington Post

"Mississippi state Rep. Andy Gipson ® weighed in on President Barack Obama's gay marriage decision last week, invoking a bible passage that calls for gay men to be "put to death.""

Andy Gipson, Mississippi GOP Lawmaker, Blasts Gays, Cites Bible Passage Calling For Their Death

So, uh...what's he really saying? And could Gipson's invoking of the biblical passage be interprested by extremists, fanatics and bigots as a green light to some kind of justified murder?

"Rep. Andy Gipson (R-Braxton) went on Facebook Friday to say that although he has been receiving emails and calls from around the country about his citation of Leviticus 20:13, as well as Romans 1:26-28, in a May 10 Facebook post on President Barack Obama's endorsement of gay marriage, he will not say he's sorry. The emails have come in response to a petition calling on the lawmaker to issue an apology and to meet with LGBT groups in Mississippi."

Andy Gipson, Mississippi Lawmaker, Won't Apologize For Citing Bible Passage Calling For Gays' Death

Gipson commented that "all people are created in God's image..." I personally would like to know when it was determined exactly what God looks like, and how he leans, that enables people like Gipson to determine that some of us are wrong.

I wonder if Rep Gipson believes all of the bible. If so then surely he also believes...

"Stone disobedient children" (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

Men are worth more than women - Leviticus 27:1-7 actually provides dollar comparisons!

Men aren't allowed to trim their beards or shave their heads (Leviticus 21:5)

Exodus 21:7-10 says men can sell their daughters into slavery

Leviticus 25:44-46 tells us exactly how we should go about enslaving the people of neighboring countries, and how to pass them down to our children.

There are lots of these types of bible passages for simple minded people like Rep. Gipson to ponder.

Leviticus 20:13 reads: "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Let's slice this up a little. "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman,..."

Now...I see a slight problem here, as if a man has sex with a woman the way nature allegedly designed things, that means the couple are having vaginal intercourse. A man does not have a vagina. So how can a man have sex with another man, "as he would with a woman?"

This can only mean that if a man has sex with another man, that's exactly what it is - sex with another man. Seems to me the only way two men having sex would be in violation of Ol' Leviticus' law, would be if one of those men had a vah-jay-jay.

Jus' sayin'... ya know? 106.gif Wouldn't that make the good Representative Gipson's head spin? 24.gif

UPDATE ---

Legislator Fears for Life

Nina Mandell, nydailynews.com

May 22, 2012, 9:19am

""Your recent posts on Facebook in opposition to Gay Marriage are derogatory, harmful, judgmental and outright threatening to the LGBT population,” the Change.org petition said. “Quoting scripture in the Bible that condones murdering homosexuals is a blatant act of harm and prejudice.""

Mississippi legislator fears for life after comments about gay marriage

______________________________________

While I don't condone the threats...in fearing for his life, Gipson is now experiencing what many LGBT people experience just for being who they are - the fear that they could be the next to die at the hands of intolerant people. -dml
