Transgender 101

Yesterday at church, adult education had a discussion on transgender basics. A number of people came to the class. A transsexual woman named Tracy and I shared our stories. What I discovered is that some folks still are trying to wrap their minds about what it is to be transgender.

After class, a few folks asked me questions. One was if I preferred being called she. I said yes. A few people thanked me for clarifying questions that they had. I was very happy that we had this lesson.

Yes, Gennee, there are so many who do not understand. I try to explain it whenever I have an opportunity and I let them know I will answer all questions. I wish I could be out and open to so many more people than I actually am. I am happy when I can talk about it with even the few I do.

While many are just biggots, there are soon many who are not, and who are just trying to learn what the hell this 'trans thing' is all about...I try to give them a little leeway.
