Ol' Charlie,

Wow! What a moving story!

Have a rock solid faith, but I feel very strongly that missionaries need to RESPECT the culture of indigenous tribles, and not FORCE their faith upon them.

And just think... a couple hundred years ago, if the Pirahã had rejected a missionary's attempts to convert them to Christianity, the missionary would have stayed, hell-bent on converting them one way or another.

Understanding another culture is important because you get to see how they feel, think, and comprehend life. We may not understand everthing but respecting the uniqueness of their culture can built respect and brother/ sisterhood.
