Those of you who know me are aware that I have been "out" everywhere except work. However, the past 3 weeks I have been coming out at work more and more. several months ago, I started wearing nail polish at work. A month ago, I got my ears pierced, and have been wearing the stud earrings all the time. For the last three weeks at work, I have been wearing eyeshadow, mascara, all girl clothes, I have been wearing jeans, blouses, panties, pantyhose, woman's shoes, bracelet, my cute dainty woman's watch, etc. Thursday I will take it yet another step and wear high heels, I have already advised a couple of people that I will be wearing high heels on Thursda…

I've been reading a book about depression and helping oneself through it, learning to avoid ways of thinking and situations that make oneself depressed. So when I get a night like tonight, where I would usually just shut down and do something as mindless as possible until I can sleep (say, reading) .. I guess a commonly recommended strategy is to refocus one's energy towards activities that usually make one feel good about oneself, encourage positive feedback and so forth. This comes and goes for me, depending on who knows what. I have a pretty good idea what started it tonight. There is some part of me that finds this dispassionately interesting because it's just an e…

Hello everyone! I am new here and thought I should introduce myself. My name is Megan and I am a transexual woman living in Virginia. I have known all of my life who I am, but for the better part of 30 years was too afraid to embrace it for fear of hurting people I love. I still have that fear but am more afriad of what might happen if I continued to live a lie. Right now I am working with a therapist, having my facial hair removed, am newly active in a support group, hoping I will be given the okay to begin hormone therapy and living as a woman about 25% of the time. I am out to the people I am closest with and all have been more accepting and supportive th…

It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. The best part was the questionaire the nurse wrote out before we started. Have any of the women in your family had breast cancer? Have you yourself ever had any kind of cancer? Are you taking any hormones or birth control pills? I told her that I've been on estradiol for 2 1/2 years. What would you say was your approximate age when you had your first period? At this point I started to laugh. Then I told her that I'm transsexual. Oh! I couldn't tell. So you never had a period. I guess I don't need to ask the one about giving birth either. I'm sorry if the question was embarrasing. No, I didn't think it was e…

Hello All, I've been visiting the board lately but not posting much. There is lots of fascinating things going on around here. Though neither TS nor much into sports I am curious as to how the athletic world accepts trans-folk. Are there all sorts of 'roadblocks' to participation? Would a MtF be considered to have an unfair advantage? Either perceived or realistically? How do hormones figure into this? Do you have to be concerned about brittle bones as elderly GG? While several questions have been thrown out for starters, I'm hoping this thread will be used to address the topics of sports participation in general and go beyond these initial questions. Please f…

Hi Girls, Reading about the family problems of Chen Ming, I almost feel hesitant to write about my own situation. The things I am experiencing seem insignificant compared to his. I spoke to my parents on the phone for nearly an entire minute. I wanted to tell them about my plans to start HRT at the end of the month and the appointment I made with one of the best SRS surgeons in Thailand. They weren’t interested. They said they were too busy to speak to me. Fortunately, Pantau wasn't too busy to see me and we spent some significant time together. These days I identify with transsexuals and I start to feel upset if anyone consider transsexuals to be freaks. Opening up…

I mentioned my in-laws had been told and were supportive. Well, my mother in law had been told anyway, and made some ominous sounding comments about my father-in-law. They talked today, my wife got ahold of her dad, they ended with a near yelling match, dad's at home depressed, the parents have been talking with each other and the rest of the family as if they only heard half of what my wife said (and none of the "it's a medical thing" parts). Some angry remarks were made about how it's inappropriate for us to have children now, and from my wife, how we'll damned well have whatever sort of family we want and they can go to hell if they don't like it. Egads. Damage Cont…

I posted a much longer chunk over at Beginning Life, but I wanted to tell you too: On Feb 17, my wife told her parents about the situation. On Feb 23, I told my sister. On Sunday, I'm driving down to tell my parents. No idea how that will go. My mother is fragile and religious, my father is back to his old drinking game again. I had to decide that I had to have no expectations for them. Regardless of their reaction, I'm okay and can take care of myself. They're free to respond however they wish. My in-laws have not talked to me yet. Mostly, they're not sure of what to say or how to process it, and I didn't want to intrude. My MIL is religious and thinks it…

Hi Girls, I have a swimming pool-issue. It's like over 90 degrees in Bangkok and every time I look down from my balcony I see this fabulous swimming pool in the garden and I really want to have a swim. Actually, it's never busy at the pool, though there must be like 500 people living in this building, but I have no idea what to wear when I want to have a swim. For a month or so I go out into the world as a girl. That is, I don't really dress very differently from what I was used to or use make up (because of my long hair and feminine face/body people already assume I am a girl). It's interesting, because before, I would leave my home thinking: I am a feminine boy, but …

The US FDA recently approved a new in home laser hair removal system called the TRIA. I understand after watching it demo'd by a local cosmetic surgeon that though it is kinda pricey, it does work just like the real deal. If anything it might make shaving a thing of the past! Quote from a consumers report website "Although no in-clinic professional, or at-home laser hair removal device can currently claim permanent hair removal, permanent hair reduction is achievable using this device." Caveat - it only works on dark hairs - semi-light brown to black. People of dark complexion it is not recommended for. If however you are light skinned and have dark hair - this ma…

This is a subject I don't really hear a lot of people touch on; there seems to be a lot of hand waving involved. Maybe that's all it is, really, people flying under the radar and hoping nothing bad happens. I've asked my therapist about this but he doesn't have a lot of reassuring answers. But I'm curious how non-op TS people deal with day to day legal issues. Like, let's say you look totally passable, everyone calls you "ma'am" or "sir" (as appropriate), you maybe even changed your name or perhaps even are able to go as far as changing your drivers' license to have the right gender. But most places in this country, at least, until you've had bottom surgery they will r…

Ok I know this may sound odd but I don't know wheather to get excited or go to the doctor. I have been taking climara (patches) for 3.5 months now and the other day when I went to shower OMG my breast area was red (the shape of a female breast). The next day it was nearly gone but a day or so later and now my nipples are getting tough and more sensative if that makes ant sense. and the nipple area tingles a bit at times. So my question is should I jump for joy or rush out to find an endochinologist ? Any thoughts here would be appreciated . Thanks ladies.

After my last post, and reading all the advice i got (which was pretty much everyone telling me to see a therapist) i've got an appointment with my GP tomorrow. I'm a nervous wreck and can't get it out of my head, but looking forward to it at the same time. If all goes well my GP will be able to set me up with a therapist, and i can start to work through some off this mess (my life). Ha, i'm sitting here in my room listening to the calming sound of the beatles. I've always had some musical talent but with the state my heads been in over the last few years i stopped playing my guitar/trumpet etc. This is one of the few occasions for a long time where im actually looking…

I am currently 20 and plan to go on hormones before or by my 21st birthday. I know the earlier the better for HRT in terms of passibility and overall effects. I was wondering if anyone could tell me 1. at the age of 21 would hormones have a very positive effect? 2. What are the early effects and when would i expect to start feeling/seeing them? 3. From any experience, i know i wont look 100% like a girl, but assuming my body excepts hormones well at this age how well will it effect my passibilty/look of femininity? 4. How long does it take for your body to over come the "T" and really become accustom to the estrogen? 5. What effect/what will happen to eja…

I don't want this to sound foolish but just what are the effects of hormones on sexual function ? I am happily married to an unbelievablly supportive wife, she helps and encourages me to be exactly who I am and to hell with what anyone else thinks. She does however insist that the twig and berries stay. So I am on low level estrodil - and yes I know self prescribed meds are dangerous. I have already begun therapy but I find the best information comes from the horses mouth or rather the T/S . I pretty much live as a woman already but I do want to keep my sexual function. Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Hi, First off ill give a little background on myself. I'm 20 years old and currently living as a male. I have been seeing a therapist for about 2 months now who specializes in trans issues. I have recently went to a few support groups dressed as Briana, and found it opened doors in my mind. I found that more and more i want to start my transition.(the younger the better right?) These groups dont only allow me to go out dressed as Briana, but also help answer questions for me. I found that im not the only one and that many other people in my area have felt similar things as me their whole lives. I'm finally to the point where i will need to tell my parents who already h…

I don't know where they came from, if they're mostly fat or real breast tissue, whatever.. but I have enough of a chest to get a little concerned lately after hearing some of my lady friends talk about sagging. I know, I know... and there's probably not enough there to worry about yet. But besides that... they sort of stick out and jiggle more than ought to be there for a man's chest; and, well, I'm still pretending to be a man around things like work. So I've taken to wearing sports bras on a regular basis. It flattens me out a little for someone not doing a close inspection, it actually gives more definition to my chest from my angle (which feels good) and it puts to r…

I'm a voracious cyclist. I have been putting in about 24 miles a week for the past few weeks to start gearing up for the not-so-rainy-and-cold season here, and during the nice parts of the year I've been known to put in a couple of 30+ mile (one-shot) trips per month. I've got a 60 mile, multi-day trip I want to do some time when it's nice. Some day if I'm ever in shape and have the time I'd love to do one of the across-the-state type events. I got to thinking about something today though. Does SRS cause problems with things like this where that crotch area gets a lot of pressure and/or friction? My wife's a GG and she complains about it. I know I have problems sometim…

Hi. First of all i think it would be best to give a bit of background information. Im a 21 yr old male and i feel like ive been living a lie for the last 10 years. If u were to see me i look like the average bloke and behave like one too. The thing is im feeling really confused about who i am. At the age of 11 (this is the earliest i can remember these feelings) i was getting the feeling that i should be a female even though i knew i wasnt, and those feelings have never left me. I felt it best to pretend like i was feeling normal and ive structured my life so that i fit in, and nobody suspects anything. It was only recently i started re-searching transgender websites etc …

Hello I am a married man and I have a few questions maybe some of you will be able to help me with. I have been married 25 years and I have just told my wife that I am not sure what I am as cross dresser or a Transgender. I have felt all of my life that I feel like a woman but I was born a male. I dress in womens clothes maybe about every 2 years on and off but not all the time. I will dress a few times be satisfied then wait maybe 1 1/2 to 2 years and dress in womens clothes again just enough to be satisfied but not completely because I know in my mind I feel and look very feminine my hands are small my face is babyish I don't have a lot of facial hair. My mind thinks fe…

Dear All, I'm a post-op woman who had SRS with colon graft vaginoplasty in 2005 in India, and introitus revision in 2006 in Thailand. Both surgeries left my vaginal entrance too small, although on examination the inner canal is adequate in diameter and depth. Aside from this, I've been experiencing frequent arousals from my genital area, even when just merely touched on the face or hands. I know that many post-SRS women experience orgasmic episodes, of which I am lucky to be among. This excessive sexual stimulation is becoming uncomfortable; awake or sleeping, I experience powerful orgasms then find out that some clear fluid in the clitoral/urethral areas wer…

Having begun my transition nearly eleven years ago I've had to deal with coming out to a lot of people--and I've gotten relatively comfortable with doing so. One person I never got the chance to come out to, however, is my best guy friend from childhood, whom I will call Dan. Dan and I pretty much hung around together all the time from when I was about 7 until we lost contact with each other when I was 18 (which was 28 years ago). I have been trying to locate Dan for many years, but since he has a very common name I was always unsuccessful in my search, that is, until now. Yesterday I managed to track down--and talk with--an old mutual friend of ours and I got Dan's phone…

I know I will never be a GG, I will be as close to one as I can get. But pregnancy is out of the question. I have always had a fantasy of having a very pretty wedding. I would walk down the isle in my Gown and be a queen to my new husband. I then would would have children with my new husband. Getting pregnant and all. I have so much envy for GG that have that. My soon to be ex wife asked me a question one time. She said being a woman is hard work. Would you take getting your peroid and all that comes with it. My answer was yes. I would have taken having my peroid. Wish they can transplant: Ovaries, Womb, ect... Maybe someday they will????? What does everyon…

I got a copy of this today on the recommendation of my HRT doc and read through it over the past two evenings. Real interesting book, that. It seems pretty complete and unbiased. There are a few things I'd have thrown in there but I can't really fault it on breadth in general. Reading through some of it was really painful. The earlier chapters opened old wounds and the later chapters re-opened recent ones. *sigh* My doc said when she transitioned she just bought a stack of about 10 and sent them out to various people. Seems like a good idea, though as Michael discovered regarding this in his visit to his mom.. you can lead someone to water, but ...

There is a very interesting article about a transgendered woman, Rose, who will soon become the first transgender television host in India. The article " Tackling a Society's Boundaries, on TV and in a Family" is currently at "The New York Times" website. India, before British colonial rule, was generally one of the most tolerant civilizations in the world concerning human sexuality. Rose also briefly comments about her experiences living for awhile in the United States.
