About Me
Hi there,
My name is Tansy Bradshaw, I am a late-20s Australian writer who would love some assistance from you and the wider trans community.
I am writing a book based on the life of Edward DeLacy Evans a trans man who lived in Australia between 1856 and 1901.
During this time he was married to 3 women before he had a 'mental breakdown' and was revealed at Kew Asylum.
I am writing the story as so the reader thinks it's a man until the incident at Kew Asylum.
However, I know that I am ignorant when it comes to how a trans person feels, and as I want to write as authentically as I can any advice and stories would be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible that you could help me, by telling me some good places to start educating myself. I have ordered Man To Woman: Lili Elbe's story after seeing the film, so I get a more diverse view of that part of transgender. But is there anything else I should do?
If you knew of people from your community who would be willing to share their experiences then I would be grateful.
My aim for this book is to be as authentic of a trans man life that I can make it. I know that he did not have surgery and there wouldn't be the understand that there is today, but I want to give the truest representation of the community as I can.
Regards,
Tansy
