  1. Trudy Ring | May 21 2015 9:04 PM ET "“Today Josh Duggar made the decision to resign his position as a result of previously unknown information becoming public concerning events that occurred during his teenage years,” FRC president Tony Perkins wrote in a statement posted on the home pages of both FRC and FRC Action. “Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work. We believe this is the best decision for Josh and his family at this time. We will be praying for everyone involved.”" --advocate.com Josh Duggar Resigns From Antigay Family Research Council Amid Sexual Abuse Allegations ________________________________ Talk about a buncha lying, hypocrits!!! A PERVERT among them, and they covered it up... all while calling trans people child predators, and fighting against TGLB protections. I've always felt that TLC should have canned that show years ago when it was discovered that this family might have been a part of the "Quiverfull" movement. In my opinion, they should DEFINITELY cancel this show now, and never allow any previously aired show to be seen again. That's what they did with "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." What's good for the goose, is good for the gander!
  2. Know Thine Enemy: The Worst Anti-LGBT Moments of the Week, March 3 - March 9. It's the weekend and that means it's time for one of our two weekly round ups: "Something to Celebrate," which takes a look back at the best LGBT news of the last seven days or, as we're bringing you today, "Know Thine Enemy," a series that features 10 of the worst anti-gay moments from last week...
  3. Daniel Reynolds, August 09 2012 3:46 PM ET "On Tuesday, conservative pundit Bryan Fischer released an internet firestorm after advocating for an “Underground Railroad to deliver innocent children from same-sex households.” The comment, released on Twitter, links to a Chicago Tribune article about a Mennonite priest charged in aiding in the abduction of the 10-year-old daughter of a same-sex couple." -advocate.com Antigay Pundit Advocates "Underground Railroad" To Kidnap Children Of Gay Parents ________________________________________ from the article, ""The only way now in America's legal system that you can protect your child from being raised in a same-sex household is to get that kid into the Underground Railroad and get that child out of dodge."" -Bryan Fischer (advocate.com) Has anyone questioned this statement? Has anyone realized how stupid it sounds? How many people are pawning off the raising of their children to same-sex parents validating this statement as a warning? from the article, "Despite criticism, Fischer stands by his remarks, and stated on Focal Point that the kidnapper has an obligation "to obey God rather than man." -advocate.com I'm curious...when did this order from God to kidnap children from same-sex parents come down? I mean...uhhh, has God gone all modern and texted one of these fanatic fools? I had to look up the word "pundit" again. It's one of those words that I really never knew the definition of...but then, it's not a word that found a reason to become rooted into my everyday life. I've also ignored the word because it's become, in the last few years, one of those words that for whatever reason becomes ridiculously popular and one that every Tom, Dick & Mary finds a way to work into every other conversation s/he has throughout every day. Anyway... Bryan Fischer? A "pundit?" Merriam-Websters says a pundit is "a learned man." I sit here looking at the headline of this article, and wondering, how do (insert any form of bigotry here) and "pundit" work together in the same sentence? I mean...wouldn't a learned person be above bigotry? Just wondering...
  4. Laura Hibbard, Huffington Post 05/18/2012 2:48 pm Updated: 05/18/2012 2:48 pm ""I wrote what I wrote for my Facebook friends who understand my heart and my intent," Conkling told the Hutchinson News. "I understand that there were some folks who didn't understand my heart, and while that's sad, it is what it is."" Jack Conkling, Kansas Teacher, Writes On Facebook That Being Gay Is 'The Same As Murder'
  5. If equating gays to murderers wasn't bad enough... Nick Wing, Huffington Post 05/18/2012 6:06 pm Updated: 05/18/2012 6:10 pm "Mississippi state Rep. Andy Gipson ® weighed in on President Barack Obama's gay marriage decision last week, invoking a bible passage that calls for gay men to be "put to death."" Andy Gipson, Mississippi GOP Lawmaker, Blasts Gays, Cites Bible Passage Calling For Their Death _______________________________________________________ So, uh...what's he really saying? And could Gipson's invoking of the biblical passage be interprested by extremists, fanatics and bigots as a green light to some kind of justified murder?
  6. 05/18/2012 5:08 pm Updated: 05/19/2012 8:48 am "A Georgia college's controversial "personal lifestyle statement" which includes rejecting homosexuality has led to an exodus of faculty members." -huffingtonpost.com Shorter University's 'Personal Lifestyle Statement' Which Bans Gay Employees Leads To Faculty Exodus _____________________________ I debated on whether or not to even post this news story after discovering that "rejecting homosexuality" was not the main, or only, requirement in the school's "personal lifestyle statement" as the headline seemed to imply. Considering an anonymous survey indicated that only 12% of the faculty planned to stay with the school, I can't help but believe that there were other "lifestyle" issues that have allegedly caused 88% to walk. It would be more interesting (in my opinion) to know how many of the faculty are leaving for the sole reason that the school rejects homosexuality, because while it seems that some do not condone it, some are leaving because the school has placed itself in a position of judging others, and which sins with which to judge. I wonder where they stand on transsexuality....
  7. Posted: 04/19/2012 6:55 pm "It was especially troubling considering that the legendary chef and cookbook writer James Beard was an openly gay man who was thrown out of Reed College in Portland in 1922 for precisely the same reason: because he was gay." James Beard Foundation President Returns Award to Boy Scouts
  8. "A new analysis of implicit bias and explicit sexual orientation statements may help to explain the underpinnings of anti-gay bullying and hate crimes." Jeanna Bryner and LiveScience, April 10, 2012, scientificamerican.com "Homophobes should consider a little self-reflection, suggests a new study finding those individuals who are most hostile toward gays and hold strong anti-gay views may themselves have same-sex desires..." Homophobes Might Be Hidden Homosexuals Thanks to long-time member, Daneela, for bringing this article to the members
  9. By Associated Press, Updated: Thursday, April 12, 4:34 PM GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — "Rachael Scheinman hears anti-gay slurs all the time. The senior at the Portledge School in Locust Valley, N.Y., says many of her peers use hateful vocabulary as generic putdowns without realizing the harm. "“These slurs are used very cruelly, and when I ask people about it they say they are not being anti-gay; they are just substituting the slur to mean ‘stupid’ or something like that...””" NY group wins approval to organize PTA group focusing on needs of gay students
