Scott De Buitleir, Posted: 10/17/2012 11:42 am An advertisement for a popular cellphone network in Ireland has been heavily criticized as being transphobic and promoting stereotypes of transgender people. The advertisement depicts a young man dancing with a drag artist in order to avail himself of the bar's free Wi-Fi. When he realizes that the cellphone network Meteor offers a free Internet package, the young man stops dancing and leaves the bar, while the drag queen spots another unassuming entrant to the bar. -huffingtonpost.com Cellphone Advertisement Blasted as 'Transphobic' (with Video)

Trans Media Watch expert says transgender people should show the press they're just as diverse as the rest of society 18 October 2012 | By Helen Belcher Trans people have been complaining for some time about how they are represented in the media. Trans Media Watch (TMW) has made quite an impact since it was formed in 2009, with high profile events and contacts, and recent recognition as a finalist at the recent National Diversity Awards. Let me declare an interest – I’m heavily involved in TMW. But there are still some fundamental questions to be discussed. TMW is not alone in asking for trans people to be represented as they actually are, rather than being…

Hello my name is Cat and I'm a nurse specialising in various laser and skin treatments. I have been treating clients for more than 5 years and I now run my own clinic in Newmarket Suffolk. I use both Alexandrite and NdYag lasers (not IPL Intense Pulsed Light) as from my many years experience in all types of laser and IPL for hair removal, I have found these to be the most effective lasers for all skin types. I also have a very effective cooling system to make the treatment more comfortable. All my lasers are medical grade, not Chinese imports so I have the support and regular service back up of a major laser company to ensure my equipment is running safely and eff…

I had an interesting chat today with someone from Personnel regarding me coming to work dressed according to my inner perspective. It appears that TS are very easy to manage in the sense that one day they appear as one gender, the next day in their new gender role. Changes such as name changes, new ID badges, and so on, can be easily implemented. A TG defies that easy rule, because every day could be different. I never feel very masculine or manly, and when I pretend to be manly (grr, beats chest) it's very comical. It is also insightful, in that being manly doesn't come easily to me. I really have to work at it. I digress. I can be somewhat more masculine one day, more…

Dan Bilefsky, July 25, 2012 "Twenty years ago, Serbian newspapers jeered that transsexuality was an act against God. "Today, people are coming from around the world to Serbia for sex-change operations, which are now subsidised for Serbs by national health insurance. ""It is surprising that a conservative, patriarchal country is becoming a centre for sex-change operations...," said Cristian, a transgender activist from Belgrade..." -smh.com.au Serbia becomes hub for sex-change surgery

All of this addoration men have for me on some of the dating sites is causing more problems than before. The experiences i have had from emails of my profiles on a few web sites is like i thought of myself as this sex goddess they seem to think i am.Hundreds of email admirers should be given to a celiberity not me.Why I see why sex goddess feel now and the image men protray them as. but you know i can barely meet any man face to face with a date to meet and see or feel the mystery of if we have chemistry or not. I am obessed with all their complements .but keep trying for a man even for short time and it is work. What advice could you give me? :(

Luke 15:11-32 I was reading a couple of posts about the Prodigal Son. Looking at the father huggng his wayward son is a touching moment. Many words can describe the poignant scene; forgiveness, love, acceptance, and joy are some words that come to mind. Affirmation comes to mind when I view the picture. Yes the son had spent everything he had on wanton living. The son felt shame and remorse, so much so that he was willing to be a servant. The father would have none of it. The father's affirmation of his son demonstrated his love for him. Contrast this response to that of the older son. He responded in anger upon hearing that his young brother's return. I'm than…

I hope i don't annoy anyone by posting all the great things that are coming into my life with my parents. I share them in hopes that it might help others that are on the fence as to hanging onto a relationship, or, letting go. And by all means, if someone is harming you, let them go. In talking to my Mom this morning, she told me, "I feel so blessed to have you in my life." That is something i have been waiting a lifetime to hear. And I am a little overwhelmed. This from a woman that for 9 years, refused to really see me. And for myself, I am so thankful that God gave me the strength to wait her out. Again I do acknowledge that it is a very individual decision..…

So, even though I've been on this forum for almost two years now, I'm still not out or transitioning... or am I? It's really hard to say and I wonder how often people get into a similar situation and for how long... I've come out to some people and been outed to others, but I don't present as female in public. Then again, what exactly does that mean? Do I have to wear makeup and women's clothing to be considered a woman? Where exactly is the line that I cross to be considered out? Is it when every single person I know knows that I'm trans? Is it when every one of the people I see on a regular basis knows that I'm trans? What if everybody knows, but not a single …

Hi everybody!! It's been a while since I checked up on this board. It's the way I operate really, but I do feel I was part of this community. I love you all and you gave me a great pillar of support when I needed it most. Thankyou all and much love. I've decided that I'm going all the way, I will be getting GRS asap. This isn't truely news, but my resolve is solid now. I will be getting everything, FFS and GRS. For me, and I stress for me as I know everyone's road in this is very different, it is what I need to do to be me. I am me on the inside. I am me in character finally. I am breaking the ice. Now I just wish to be able to see myself in the mirror. As me. So that,…

This might seem off topic to some, but any proven physical difference specific to gender reinforces the evidence of a brain for one gender in the body of another as central to the issue of trans medicine. These studies showing genetic evidence for gender differences in the brain are huge in the scientific case. Zhou, Jiang-Ning; Hofman, Michel A.; Gooren, Louis J. G.; Swaab, Dick F. (1995). "A sex difference in the human brain and its relation to transsexuality". Nature 378 (6552): 68–70. doi:10.1038/378068a0. PMID 7477289. It was then confirmed in another study. Kruijver, F. P. M.; Zhou, JN; Pool, CW; Hofman, MA; Gooren, LJ; Swaab, DF (2000). "Male-to-Female Transsexual…

The "Trans Dating" section has some info but it looks like a huge ad for TVTSDating.com. I know the ad revenue helps keep this site functioning and looking awesome so i'm not saying i have a problem with that. I'm curious what recommendations members have for transgender dating sites? Also anyone have any comments and stories involving dating sites, good or bad? thanks everyone!

Today was the worst day in my life and here's why.... i had posted a cute gothic picture of me dress in my female attire and was really happy about it and my mother...well former mother now..decided to say in reply to the picture "oh i dont like this of you...your my son...love you" boy was i mad at her reply. so i asked her why she cant accept me(i asked her in private facebook messenger fashion of course) and her reply was...and i quote.... "your my G... Hi. I am new to the board and just wanted to say Hello. I am TG and don't see anyway to transition or "come out" with out hurting others. I am married and have two precious girls I couldn't bare to see hurt. I think one reason I got married was I thought it would "cure me". Ha. Before I got married I was under going electrolysis and working on my figure. I feel myself going back in time trying the same things "without electrolysis". DOES IT EVER END? I just wish I could atleast dress and lay back fem for one whole day. Seems impossible these days.

I know it's a long shot, but I figured that any shot not taken is a guarenteed miss. I have recently been denied a job by a company. During my interviews, they *loved* my background, my interview went amazingly well, and in the final interview, they had employment pamphlets and folders out for what I assumed to be a job offer. At the end of the interview, they mentioned that they just were doing background checks for everyone they hire, and asked me if this were an issue. Because PA took 9 months to change my name, at that point, I had not had it legally changed, I mentioned that I was indeed transgendered and my background check would need to be run under my birt…

On Monday I attended my first real-life Transgender meeting in Appleton Wisconsin. TG guide prepared me well, for I spent most of the meeting listening to others. Then I asked one question and about ten people were suddenely eager to answer me directly. I felt comfortable in the group and I plan on going there every month. I strongly encourage anyone who has not had a real life experience like this to find a local group in your area. What is really helpful is to hear everyone's voices and see their mannerisms. The overall feeling is similar to watching some of the videos on you tube but even better. I am much more confident about myself after seeing how com…
