I hope everyone had a great holiday and will have a wonderful new year! Much love! Lauren

I did not see this here and there should always be a thread of this nature. First off is your purse. Some feel pretty safe because they have there stuff in a wallet. But that wallet may be in a purse. You need to stop and think about that for a second. If you glance away from your purse even for a second it can be gone. Even if you glance up as someone grabs it can you actually change them down in those 3 inch heels? Your keys are in there, your ID... Your money. Hey they can beat you home and use your keys to get in... Where are you at? Where are the doors? If followed where is the nearest major store that will have lots of people? If you break down who can yo…

Hi Everyone. Not sure if any of you have heard of peer support or of respite centers. It's an alternative to psych hospitalization. The person that started this is a dear friend of mine. She has been asked to come up with new ideas to deal with the transgender community in different states and has asked for my help. I can tell her about experiences I know of. Would like others input also. the questions being...if you are a trans person, just starting your journey, What kind of support would you need? What could someone say or how could they talk to you that would help? If you are a person that has been transitioning for a while...and still dealing with hardship...what wou…

Help! My son is in need of some talk therapy from a child psychologist that deals with gender confusion. He is 11 years old and acts very "girly". He was born with a small penis and his mother and father (I am his stepmother)thought the entire pregnancy that he was female. They could not see a penis on ultrasound. I have only been married to his father for a short while, but in the two years I have known this child he has been asking questions about his gender. I am a nurse and feel it is our responsibilty to get him any help he needs in order to grow up as "normal" as possible. Kids make fun of him, and he feels bad about himself. I have an appointment with an adolecent …

Hi all. I have been in transition for 7 years, and now I am facing having to stop it all. I thought by now, I would have been able to get my hysterectomy surgery, but have never been able to come up with the money. And I am facing the consequences. Not sure how to explain it, but my body is in constant battle. The female hormones...the male hormones...the change of life crap that happens....I am dealing with the worst of the worst. And I am thinking, maybe it's just time to give up on my dream. I am a true transsexual. I knew I was male since I was 4 years old. But, I need to be realistic. There is no way I can ever afford my surgery. Been fighting...trying to …

Prior to coming out and transitioning fulltime as Annah, I used to work for Liberty Mutual as a Disability Claims Manager. In every single contract for every single Company we write for in regards to disability insurance, Transgender-related disability was always an exclusion to any policy (i.e., you could never apply under disability benefits when receiving SRS). Since I came out, I also came out to my friends at Liberty Mutual. I had made a lot of friends while I had worked there under the male persona. I was given corporate level disability claims of CEOs and other executive members who went out on disability under the contracts of AllState, Nokia, Jc Penny's, etc. …

Hi everyone-I was searching the net for any more information about insurance coverage for us and I came across a "youtube" video. I titled it "transgender insurance" and up popped a vi deo from a guy(FtM) named Aaron. In it he talked about the AMA and a certain resolution that they passed. Resolution 122(A-08). There are alot of whereas paragraphs so I'll be brief. Bassicly they oppose any discrimination on the basis of gender idenity and recognise the seriousness of the disorder and the grave consequences if left untreated. Page 2 there are two sections where they have a resolved, and since I don't know how to do any insertion thing,I'll quote line 15; "RESOLVED, …

I know I know it gets a little old talking about boobs but I just wanted to share something. My aereolas are getting wider and lighter in color. I don't have the cone type nipples. They are thick and long. My breasts are round and feel heavy and have some bounce to them. They are not growing in the typical tanner stages. They really look like boobs. If that makes sense.

about our choices as transgender. Why do we need to subject ourselves to doctors whom claim to be transgender specialist. Doctors who don't accept insurance and don't prescribe hormones. Doctors who treat us like a star way to become rich and famous. This kind of doctor that I've been seeing. Why can't we just go to a regular endocrinologist and explain our case as any regular patient? I think that's what i am doing next. I would love to hear what every body else has to say.

Hi Everyone. Most of you probably know that President Obama's health care bill is now partially in effect. Have any of you noticed your cost for hormones rising? Especially for those of us that insurance won't cover that cost? I just picked up my monthly prescription today. I have paid the same amount for 6 years, until now. The monthly increase....$20.00. So much for this bill helping the little guy.

Hi everyone, I am really getting upset with my doctor in Los Angeles. He doesn't prescribe hormones. He charges $65 for an injection of estradiol+progesterone that he claims last a month. He charges another $70 for a 10 minutes consultation if I have questions. he said is not necessary to measure the levels of hormones to find out the right dose. I am just confuse about if I am going to the right doctor. I feel like I am getting rip off and not getting anywhere. I wonder if i would be better off just going to a regular endocrinologist.

Hi all. Putting this out there in case it might help someone else. I am in the process of making a gameboard. At the top of the board are my ultimate goals. They deal with health, relationships, spirituality, career....etc. I have then come up with the steps I need to take to reach each goal. the gameboard will have movable game pieces (probably velcro) that I can advance forward as I complete each step, or move backwards if I need to find an alternative route to the top. I am very visually motivated, so feel like this will be a big help for me. I am also setting up small rewards along the way. This will also help me in seeing the areas I am strong in, and the a…

Hi, I'm still very new here and have read lots of other peoples questions, concerns and stories about the experiences they’ve had prior, during and after transition. I share similar stories and concerns and have asked many of the same questions. We trans-women and men share many of the same beginnings and realities, details vary and many have lost plenty. I don’t want to be too vague however if I start at the beginning of “my” story this topic would be more of a novel and I’d like to get to the point of which is bothering me at this point of my transition. I’ll start with a lil’ info on where I am as of now. I came out to my wife (then girlfriend) as a cross dresser y…

Hi all. Had an incident happen at work that at first ticked me off, but then made me very thankful that I work at a place that values the work I do. Had a co-worker start calling me 'it,' to a few people. A couple people that heard it, went to my boss and told him. Well, this co-worker got written up and was told, one more time, and he gets his walking papers. All I can say is...'yep', my hard work and honesty is starting to pay dividends! Hope everyone is staying cool!

I Have been reading this book by John Maxwell, called, 'Talent is never enough.' If you ever want to read a book that will motivate you to be your best....have confidence in the man or woman you are...this is the book. He has a list in his book that I copied and taped to my frig. Thought I'd share that with all of you. Hope it helps you as much as it is helping me! Don't change just enough to get away from your problems - change enough to solve them. Don't change your circumstances to improve your life - change yourself to improve your circumstances. Don't do the same old things expecting to get different results - get different results by doing something new…

Hey Lucky and All. There is a foundation in Conn., called the Jim Collins Foundation. They are a 501c3 non-profit whose goal is to help trans folk pay for surgery. They do numerous fund raisers. Go to there website for more info. jimcollinsfoundation.org. I also heard from a very reliable source, that Vt. Blue Cross/Blue Shield now pays for trans related expenses up to a life time max. I have'nt had the time to research this yet, but it did come from someone that worked on getting that to happen. So...Vermont anyone?

Actually it came to me in my sleep, probably because before I went to sleep, I had been researching way to finance my surgeries. Anyway, heres my idea. Alot of us dont have surgery because we either cant afford it or dont choose to get it. Well the ones who do want it anf havent got it yet, is most-likely because they cant get a loan because of poor credit, they maybe unemployed, it could be because they're full time students, whatever the reason. Money is tight all over the world right? Okay, because we have thousands of people on this messageboard, and it is active. I see different faces/names posting/joining everyday. Now what if everyone here could take two dol…

I haven't done this in a Long time but I feel I need to ask this question , I have read many posts , watched many Vlogs on youtube . and the simple of it is Does the Rules have a place for every one that finally decides to transition .... I dont believe they do , hear me out , Yes I do think they are a good guide for some but for others to be socked into these rules is in my oppinion ubsered to simply say that if you want to have these things done to complete you as a person and to be any use to society you have to jump through these critearia to do so , hog wash , am I mentally strong enough to adjust to my new life as >>> then if so then I should be able to …

Regardless of your physical outside, are you a woman? This question was posted by Valerie in another thread. I did not wish to get off topic there so I would like to comment on this statement here. I apologize for writing so much, my mind never seems to shut down, I guess there are medications that could help me think of nothing but then I wouldn't really be Amie then would I. This statement struck me because of how it was worded. The majority of people in this world would say that it is your physical outside that makes you a man or a woman. In other words there are still people in this world that believe there is no real difference in brains of men and wom…
