This is something I have been obsessing over for a while now. For as long as I can remember I have wished that I was female so it does seem to make sense that I am transgendered and I have reached a point at which I like being the way I am, however while I am very feminine in most ways I'm also not so feminine in some ways to give a few examples I love violent video games and martial arts movies in both cases I especially love when its a women kicking every ones asses but I don't have any real problem with watching or playing as a male. Another example is how young males seem to like carrying really bad ass looking pocket knives. I often think that this is a crude and unr…

There are certain things that I do like fix my hair a certain way. I wear nail polish and capris sometimes. This is not my attempt to coming out, its just my style and way of expressing myself. So here is the theme of this topic. How did some of you start to live full time as a woman? Either before or after HRT. Was it a gradual process for you? Thanks for your insight everyone. ^_^

ohhhhhhhh-kay... many of you are familiar with the post i began in sept 2005 "THEORY: Why So Many MTFs Prefer Women." it quickly became a hot topic and generated some lively debate. so...i'm off on a new quest for info and understanding -- since i began hanging out in TG/TS chatrooms and forums, it seems to me to be, that: most of the women, the MTF individuals, strive to be all that is feminine and womanly. most seem to work untiringly toward achieving a feminine shape and look, perfecting feminine mannerisms, and eliminating as much as possible...anything that would ID them physically as having been born male-bodied. on the other hand.... lately, …

If you had been born into a society where gender roles are completely reversed from yours, like in that episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, would you still be TG, or would you have fit right in from the beginning? If you're MTF, for example, would you be like the women of that society (i.e. like men in your culture) or like the women of our society?

Someone sent me the links to a few TG-related LiveJournal communities. I tried one, gave a brief introduction, said who I am, and wrote the URL to my site instead of writing the long story. Well, to make a long story short, a lot of people really didn't like what my site says. (Though, to be fair, some people liked it, and some gave me more up-to-date info, which I added, and a few even recommended other groups for me.) I tried others--similar results. Some actually said that my ideas are dangerous! I wanted to say (but didn't have the guts), "Um, you do know that the Cold War is over, right?" So, I just wanted to say that I've found this board to be the most f…

An idea came up this morning in a chat session that I wanted to ask everyone about. Have your family or friends ever wondered if you were gay-- that is, in relation to your birth sex? And if you've been asked about this, how did it make you feel? If you are MTF and act womanly, or an FTM who gives off masculine vibes, and you haven't transitioned, does what others think of your sexuality concern you, more so than if they might wonder if you are TS? In my case, based on the clothes I'd hide in my room, my dad was resolutely convinced I was a gay male, even though I never acted effeminate or hung around with guys who were this way. I was sexually attracted to women, s…

I've been drinking and this may sound weird.. but I have to say it. Is anybody lonely in the transtion? I am. How do we talk, besides this forum. How do we talk to the people we know. This seems to be such a lonely journey. Do we really have to go thru this alone? I know there are support groups....but in northern wisconsin! Besides my shrink I don't have anyone to. Maybe this is just the time of the month; but I am really feeling down. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I've been wondering lately if -- in a large collective sense -- there are noticeable differences between those who say they are women vs those who want to be. I don't want to start any conflaguration here, just to see if any one else has noticed any collective differences between the two different self perceptions. As an example, might "those who want to be" tend towards crossdressing, while "those who are" might tend towards transitioning? Oh, and when I say "those who are" and "those who want to be", I am referring to how they think of themselves, not their physical bodies. As for my opinion on this, cannot say I have enough exposure or contact with others to get a …

Are you right brained or left brained? What's the difference? The answers lie ahead! This little test takes two minutes to complete. I'm satisfied with my results. Certainly the description was apt. Similar Minds test Annie

http://www.wa-doma.org/ I kind of wish this would pass. It would be the kind of law that would cause DOMA to be struck down at the national level. For those who don't know what DOMA (the so-called Defense of Marriage Act) says, basically any state can ignore the marriage laws in other states and make it's own rules about who is married and who isn't. So theoretically, a hetersexual couple married in state A could have their marriage declared invalid in state B. Washington Initiative 957 would do just that. Because of a court case that struck down gay marriage for the reason that gay people can't procreate, I-957 makes the ability to procreate a determination o…

Hi all, I know I haven't been super active lately.. Since my lay-off, things have gotten surprisingly busy. I am now back in school, working on my Computer Science degree. And even better, I got a sewing machine! Yay! So I'm learning how to use that well, still working on my knitting and improving my cooking skills... I made this apron as my first attempt I hope everyone has been well, I miss the discussions here and hope to get back into the swing of things soon!!

I just saw this picture: www.divideby0.com/photos/2002-Anime-Expo/pics/DSCN1221.JPG and I thought, hmm, the girl on the right doesn't have that much of a figure, yet there's no question that she's a girl. I'm 36-32-37 myself and I wonder if my waist is 4 inches too large. After seeing that, I wonder, maybe my figure is okay?

Hi all, here I am with another query. Reading many posts concerning tg people getting the hormone therapy that they desired, I read many times about the joy and peace felt after the hormones are taken. That the hormones in their blood made them feel whole again. Even a few ladies saying that it was euphoric. I am wondering if this is true for both mtf and ftm, and could it be that a non tg person would also feel something similar if they were introduced to estrogen or testosterone and were the opposite sex. If I took testosterone, for instance, might I feel energized, or powerful? And if a gm takes estrogen, would it make him mellow? Peaceful? Interesting to me. …

Howdi all, How do your TGism reflect itself in dreams? Have you always dreamt 'in the persona' of your 'brain/true sex'? I tend to be genderless in my dreams anyway, but occasionally I have dreams in which I 'know' I'm a woman, but to be honest, I have more where I'm certainly the extrernal person I am now ... i.e. male.... Actually I drream quite vividly every night, which I'm happy about, though more often than not the details fade within minutes if I don't concentrate my mind on them. Some of my friends claim the 'never dream'... I'm not sure thats true, I read somewhere we all dream but we don't all remember them. I'm grateful I do though. Last n…

I'm currently in the process of getting my name changed. I was wondering if changing my last name as well would be a good idea too. The reason I'm wondering about it is because I'm considering the opinion of going stealth and naturally I don't want people finding out information about my male pass that could be damaging to me. I just wondering what would be recommended to do in a case like this.

Where do I begin... Until about a month ago I didn't even know what a transexual was. I grew up thinking I was crazy, everyone told me I was stupid for even suggesting that I was born the wrong gender and kept trying to "talk me out of it". But deep down I knew they were wrong. My whole life I knew I was different, and I knew exactly why. A female born with a mans body. I thought I was either unique or crazy. Boy was I off. I've been perpetually depressed my whole life. Constantly seeking a way out of existance. I can't kill myself because of that innate fear of the afterlife. I don't want to live like this, but I don't want to live forever like this either, heaven or …

This is partially a question for GirlInside because I imagine this is all made much harder by an active decision not to transition. I'd be interested to hear what anyone has to say though. Ok, so you've told your friends and people close to you that you're trans. No one's blown up at you, everyone's been very supportive, given you the pat on the back for your self-discovery and being courageous enough to talk about it. (Well, that's been my experience so far.. haven't hit my family yet ) Now what? Here's what the effect has been on my relationships with everyone: people are a little weird talking about some topics now because they're afraid they'll offend me. …

Before I came out, no one ever asked me about my gender or sexual orientation. Now I'm out as FTM, EVERYONE suddenly wants to know my sexual orientation! They'll say, "Okay, I get the gender thing, but are you gay or straight?" so bizarre. just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences...

well, I had been dating a great guy for the last month or two, and yes, I thought he might be "the one". He lives out of town, six hours away by car. He has driven here twice to see me, and he also took the bus another time to see me. I thought we were hitting it off really well, we laughed, we talked, we got along really well, we had great intimacy too. We seemed to like the same things. We had even talked about him coming here, getting a job here, and moving in with me. He even got along with my cat well, she came up to him and let him pet her the first night he was here, and she's never done that with anyone. Today he pm'ed me and said he has decided agains…

I have had a friend take a picture of me the first of every month for the last 28 months to show how HRT has changed me. They are like mug shots, front, back and side. It is interesting to see that you DO change. Is posting this of interest, or even ok to post? People on HRT might continue or stop if they really see it works. It's life altering for sure. Paul...someday Paula ;)

 Ok I know this is in no way considered a "general transgender topic" but here it is anyhow. So i go for my yearly (well 2 years this time) mammogram, and the dr calls a week later and says they want to take an ultrasound on the right to see that these 2 tiny dense areas are cysts. Of course I started riddling him with questions, he told me not to get any grey hairs over this, it is common, they always error on the side of caution. I felt ok about it for a few days, but mind mind started doing it's ugly tricks. The next day one of my old dogs got really sick, I was off work all day sitting in the waiting room on a veterinary specialist waiting for results of a ul…

How do you do it? I'm in my early 20's and I'm trying to figure myself out. I recently posted on the "I'm I or Ain't I" thread a list of reasons why I think I could be TG. It's a constant battle for me trying to decide. I have to say that so far you have all been very supportive and helpful And yet, no matter how much I decide to investigate or research, there's this part of me that is constantly telling me "It's not real." It's like sometimes I feel like I want to be a girl and sometimes I don't and it's really confusing. I've become very stable and successful as a guy. Some of it feels like an act and some of it doesn't and I don't know how that affects all t…

I am looking for insight. information, websites, chat rooms (any) that you know of in relationship to marriage, affairs, sex, dating, between a MtF transgender and a normal male. I mean any tidbits, paragraphs, insight, experiences, websites or chatrooms where I can find out what I can expect in the area of marriage, affairs, sex, dating, between a MtF transgender and a normal male. OR the probabilities of transgendered MtF ending up in a lesbian relationship. Cassandra

Well, as of Friday, Dec. 8 I went to the court house and applied for my name change. The name change paper did NOT have anything on it about gender change, so I had to piggy back it on there. Where it says, "what is the reason for the name change" I put: Common Useage/life changes. I put life changes due to my transition. It sounds better to put that than to put "transitioning, FTM" or "SRS surgery". The lady at the court house said that was perfect. On the line below that I put "Request for gender change" The lady told me that next week I will receive a paper in the mail and I am to take that to the local newspaper and tell them to put the ad in the paper fo…
