Certainly much more "Off-Topic" than "Humorous" is this story that was published in the Huffington Post. Interracial Couple Banned From Kentucky Church The pastor Melvin Thompson "proposed that the church go on record saying that while all people were welcome to attend public worship services there, the church did not condone interracial marriage... His proposal, which was accepted by a 9-6 vote last week, also suggested that married interracial couples be prohibited from becoming members and used in worship activities, except for funerals." Okay...I understand why commercials aimed at men use sexy women to advertise products. But why do commercials aimed at women... use sexy women to advertise the products?? I mean...women like make-up, perfumes, lotions and stuff...things to make the hair soft, the legs smooth, and boobs look bigger and perkier, and already regularly search for and shop for that miracle product. Yet there are commercials (like lip stick commercials for example) that seem to rival those late nite date/phone sex commercials where the models are trying to entice men to call them. So what's the deal? -Curious Mike

I had to share this... For all of us who've had a *canine family member, this will be no surprise - entertaining - but no surprise. This vid makes me laugh everytime I see it. For all of you who've never had a canine family member, this video should cause you to question the experts who claim dogs respond only to emotion, the sound of your voice and body language, and not actual words or sentences, or understand certain situations. Enjoy! -Mike http://www.youtube.c...h?v=_kLdO3EsECs *Canine family member = a dog who lives in the house with the family, not the poor dog that's relegated to a doghouse in the back yard and only sees any of the family when they brin…

I can't take credit for these; I received them in an e-mail message from a friend. Here goes Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day. I just couldn't help sending this along. Too funny. Things we have learned from the movies… *During all police investigations, it will be necessary to visit a strip club at least once. *All telephone numbers in America begin with the digits 555. *Beds have special L-shaped cover sheets which reach up to the armpit level on a woman; but only to waist level on the man lying beside her. *The ventilation system of any building is the perfect hiding place. No one will ever think of looking for you in there, and you can travel to any other part of the building you want without difficulty *Should you wish to pass yourself off as a German officer, it will not be necessary to speak the language. A German accent w…

to be stumped - Be stumped no more! Being "stumped" comes from the pioneering days when the land was cleared to lay down train tracks. When the workers came across a tree stump, it would cause a dilemma or "to be stumped."

  21. About one in every 10,000 chickens is gynandromorphous, to use the technical term. In medieval times, they might have been burned at the stake, as witches' familiars. But now these chickens are shedding important new light on how birds, and perhaps reptiles, develop. It used to be thought that hormones instructed cells to develop in male or female-specific ways. That's what happens in mammals, including humans, and it leads to secondary sexual characteristics like facial hair for men or breasts for women. But scientists at the Roslin Institute and the University of Edinburgh say they have discovered that bird cells don't need to be programmed by hormones. …

I have been a member of Second Life (SL) for about 4-5 years. I stopped once for a period of time because I had come out to my wife and I knew she was going to be searching the computer for evidence. I deleted everything I had on it, so I thought. She found some files but I don't need to discuss that here. The point being I left Second Life once and had to begin all over again when I rejoined. I was able to keep my first name "Bonnie" but had to change my last name. It changed from "Riederer" to "Ryba". So I am now known as "Bonnie Ryba". I unsubscribed again when I returned to my wife but have had a friend of mine in SL resubscribe me again before the 6 months wa…

This is why I can't get to sleep right away at nite... crap like this comes to mind Smad. A combining of "sad" and "mad." When you're not sure of one's state of mind. Ex: When I came in the room, it looked like she might have been smad. Smangle. A combining of "smother" and "strangle." Under the right conditions, facial contortions and body language can look rather similar in either situation. Ex: The way she was flailing about, you'd have thought she was smangling. Cōllergy. A combining of "cold" and "allergy." With the fear of H1N1, a simple allergic sneeze can get a person a dirty look nowadays. But you don't want to just heartlessly accuse someone of sprea…

Thanks for the suggestion, Daneela! Heinrich Ollendorff meant well. The grammarian intended his phrasebooks to teach German, French, Danish, and Russian to a new generation of language students. But who would ever need to speak these sentences? * Stop, the postilion has been struck by lightning! * A man is drowning. Is there a life buoy, a rope, a grapnel at hand? * Unhand me, sir, for my husband, who is an Australian, awaits without. * After having lost all my money, I was beaten by bad-looking men; and, to my still greater ill luck, I hear that my good uncle, whom I love so much, has been struck with apoplexy. Ironically, he’s remembered…
