I am on cloud nine right now. Yesterday I went into town to finally get my license and social security change (the name on it, not the number). It was so simple with no problems what so ever. The DMV would be my first pit stop. In total I was there maybe for ten minutes. There was no confusion on their part as to what I was doing. All I did was show them my court order and the rest was pie. My temporary license is in my possession. The actual card will take a couple of weeks to come in the mail. After that mission was complete my next stop would be social security. The social security office was just a block away. I enter the building and find a room of people sitting …

Does anyone have experience with having a little relief from transgender feelings by dressing another woman, Girlfriend, Spouse, Daughter. I originally thought that I might be cured when I got married because I could shop with my wife and enjoy seeing great looking clothes on her. Unfortunately my idea didn't last long because as soon as I had a chance I wanted to borrow my wifes clothes. This was a big problem because at the time she had lost a lot of weight and it was almost impossible to fit into her size. I also noticed how much prettier the smaller shoes were. So for a time a felt better about myself because I was reaching out to my wife, but then I felt like…

Well, that old brick wall called FEAR has me stopping again. I have always been... well in the closet... or the house as is my case. My TG issues have always (with one exception a few years back) a private world just for me. After reading the forums here and seeing all you gals venturing forth with your lives, I started thinking about breaking out of my protective shell a bit. Here in the middle of the Bible Belt of the Country in a state called IOWA, there is few if any TG resources. Anyway, I have recently discovered that a threapist in TG related issues has a practice locally. I even sent an inquiry email to confirm this. So here I am looking at a phone numb…

Had my annual physical today, two years since HRT, 1 1/2 years since GRS, it appears as Marci Bowers indicated my prostate would be gone in a short time and it's completely gone as of today. Nice to know a doctor will not have to perform that test on me again.

I know I've been posting a lot of threads lately... sorry I just love to talk. I've spent a lot of time lately just meditating on, and seeing beauty everywhere in the world. I know how cheesy that sounds, but doing things like life drawings tends to do that to you. There's something intimate about putting down a person's lines and shadows on paper and unless you hate your work, it's impossible to not find beauty in your subject. It spills over into the rest of life. I grew up seeing images of TSes of the Jerry Springer variety, like some of the other threads I've seen posted on here -- badly botched implant jobs, real drag queen looking types, don't really seem to …

For the second time in my life I am experiencing my coming out, due to in large part by this message board which has meant the world to me. I can't help but feeling like this is my virtual family and support group. I really wasn't planning on coming out until my book was published in 2012 which is also the year that I retire. My wife has been acting so strange lately. I think it all started when she found a birthday card that I was sending to a friend that she didn't know so she opened the card that was meant to be mailed and it was signed Love Jojo. OMG! I was jumping through hoops trying to come up with a good story on that one. It seemed as if she was getting over tha…

Its a Sunday morning, as I got dress for church. I called my friend Aaron to ask him to ride over to pick me up. After a long wait, finally Aaron showed up, as I said hello while sitting down in the front seat. On our way to church, Aaron address to my attention that he had something important that he wanted to talk to me about? He explained that he would had invited me over to one of his friend's place, but due to the reason that he had his grand children along with him, and he explained that he doesn't want me around to confuse his grand daughter, because of how the way I dress and wear my nail polish. since I'm MTF. I told my friends about what between me and Aaron, an…

For the past ten days or so, I have sensed that a shift in my gender identity has occurred. I can only think and see myself in feminine terms. Even at night lying in bed, my thoughts are continually on the feminine spectrum. For the first time, I felt some discontent as a male. This never happened before. My wife also sees that everything from clothes to general life is in a feminine perspective. This past Sunday I was strolling along the streets enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. I felt an overwhelming contentedness because some situations that I was ill at ease in before didn't phase me. I talk with the public, use public accomodations without fear, and have…

Last night while out celebrating our anniversary my spouse and I discussed more about transgenderism. I don't remember how the converstion got started but we had an interesting conversation. She has read some of the book I'm currently reading My Husband Wears My Clothes by Peggy Rudd. Louise showed me something on page 94 of the book. It is a case study of a 13 year old girl who father is a crossdresser. Lydia, her sister, mother and father share clothes. They go out on shopping trips together. They are an open and loving family. We have gone on shopping trips a few times and we share some clothing. I tease her and tell her that its easier on budget. We haven't foug…

The topic may seem a little off. I am a business woman and probably soon to be in the media as I am spearheading my own thoughts on the Unisex bath room issue at the University of Virginia . Besides that, own a design firm that makes models and movie props as well as renting antique cars . Because of this , I have to look like a business woman . I see so many Trans women dressing ether in club wear or dressing in something that looks awful on their body shape . Now TG Guide members ,would you want to participate in photos of clothing that looks correct for the work place or provide advice ? Lets talk !

  14. As I noted in my introduction, I am in the first stages of transition. But it feels like I am not in control. I had my nails done, and pierced each ear twice. I automatically shave each morning and put on my makeup. I can't even find my mens trous and have a closet full of ladies clothes and what must be the biggest collection of ladies shoes and boots (can't get enough tall boots). I make a point of going out every day even if I don't need to...just to be sure I am seen by people. Six months ago I was terrified to even walk through the makeup aisle; today I shop their like I own the place. And I won't even start hormones until next week; I must look odd as a femini…

I've not posted much on the boards lately as life is getting busier all the time. My partner is working extra on weekends so I'm filling the 'housewife' role alot the past few weeks. Maybe I ought to get a French Maid outfit?? Work certainly isn't giving up on its' time demands either. So, with that said, while I'm not contributing much, visiting this message board is a good life-line from the near meaningless rat-race. Thank You all for being wondeful people. MIWBJ p.s., I'm hoping after the holidays things will slow down enough to participate more again. I even found the digital camera and hope to post a picture or two. I certainly could use some gentle c…

I dont know if this has been discussed or not yet. But I, right now, get medical assistance from the state I live in. Which means I have to go to DES to get it renewed every 3 months or so. Anyway, when I have to go there, I like that they have to call me by my choosen name, but being that I dont totally pass for male in the chest area, I get people staring in my direction. Anywhere I go that I use MY name, I get that. Does this bother anyone else? How do you handle it?

Oh well, back off to the shoe repair shop, at least my ankle is still intact. I need to stick to the dance floor and other hard surfaces in these particular heels. Bobbie Jo

If you are going to transition and wish to pass as a cis-gendered woman, where do you find your frame of reference? Women of my age have been mothers and are probably now grandmothers as well, they have lived all of their lives in the role I yearn to fill. They've been given help and guidance from mothers and grandmothers, female relatives and girlfriends. How do you make up for all that time and experience. As a transwoman, I would become the person I have though I should have been all my life, my crossdressing has always been a temporary fix, stolen moments which have always been moments alone. There has never a girlfriend around to tell me that, that shade of lips…

I was at the Goodwill Outlet Store last night again, and saw .. I'm not sure if they were a CD or a badly not-passing TS, but ... Just like the type of people that people are always mentioning on here as "probably shouldn't transition" -- probably 6'5", very masculine facial features, uhhh moderately functional fashion sense, totally unmasked male voice. The heartening thing is that there were quite a few people at that place last night and I didn't see anyone giving them a second look really. I mean geez... people are always worried about what will happen if someone reads them, but it makes me feel a lot better about trying even if I don't 100% succeed at first. (Sorr…

  22. Josh A. Goodman, 07/13/2012, 11:54 pm "A more common problem is simply not representing transgender data or issues under the umbrella of LGBT. News articles discuss LGBT bullying or LGBT suicide while citing data that only include LGB individuals, obscuring the fact that rates of assault and suicide are higher for transgender youth, and especially trans youth of color. Same-sex marriage is touted as an LGBT issue, despite the fact that many transgender individuals are heterosexual. Many commentators called the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" a major milestone for LGBT equality, but transgender individuals are still barred from serving openly in the U.S. military." -Go…

If you've come out and had an open outright rejection and also had a closed rejection(meaning someone has a real issue with you but doesn't say it) Which one was worse. Or if you not come out as I have not. Which one do you fear more? For me I would much rather have the outright rejection. I think having someone who has an issues and not saying so is much worse, at least for me.

  24. Hello Everyone, I hope I don't cause a firestorm by what I am about to say, but I need some help sorting out some feelings that I am having concerning the ABC special on B. Jenner this evening. On one hand, I can certainly sympathize with what B. is going through, and to have the courage to talk about it, on national TV, on one level that is awesome. It puts a face to being on the Transgender spectrum. But it is a spectrum, and that is what is bothering me. We are all individuals, and while our own journeys have similarities, they also have differences - occasional, part time, full time, surgery, no surgery, out, in the closet - each one of our journeys is uni…
