I have been out for nearly seven years now. There have been many improvements and changes. Protections for GLBT persons are law in many counties, towns, states, and countries. There is also more backlashes because we dare to make our voices heard. Transgender Day of Remembrance reminds me that we’re still in a fight. What is encouraging is that more people are seeing through the labyrinth of lies thrown up by our enemies. I am seeing cracks in the armor of seemingly impenetrable social institutions because people are being educated about gender and sexuality. The church is one such institution. I am part of a task force that forming a ministry for LGBTQI persons. I’…

I was at the community center last night waiting for a friend. A gentlemen who I have seen numerous times sat down and chatted with me. He complimented me on my attire. He seemed very fascinated with my hands. I have long, sleek fingers. It's not the first time someone has complimented me about them. We chatted for about ten minutes before he had to leave. Yesterday I received four emails from men desiring a relationship with me. This past Saturday, a couple of gents took notice of me while I was walking. It's really been interesting the past few days.

Wasn't sure where to put this..so yeah. the gay guy on the left in the video really pisses me off for his narrow minded view on transpeople. ! Language in this video not suitable for viewers under the age of 18, or for others easily offended by profanity !

On March 29th, a task force will be formed in order to create a ministry for LGBTQI persons, allies, friends and family. I will be attending that meeting. I'm very excited about this. there are a number of gay and lesbian couples who regularly attend. So far as I know I'm the only transgender person there. Maybe I'll meet another trans person. I'm excited because I believe that the church should be leading the fight for inclusion and equality. I will let you know how the meeting went.

  14. Coming Out, a New York Times interactive feature, contains videos and stories from gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans people. It is advertised as a "weeklong series," but I'm not sure when it began...so members might want to check this feature out soon in case it disappears. I haven't seen all the vids, or read all the stories, but one was interesting to me - a young gay teen who was in ROTC. He mentions putting off going into the military after high school (despite the repeal of DADT)...he feels he might still have to hide who he is. I wanted to go into the army after high school, but didn't because back then, it was assumed that any female in the army was gay. I …

  15. Expanding Black Masculinity to End 'Black on Black' Anti-LGBT Violence Huffington Post (blog) At the beginning of February, Deoni Jones, a 23-year-old African-American transgender woman, was stabbed to death at a Washington, DC bus stop -- the suspect, a 55-year-old black man. 16. Should the LGBT Community Use Words Like 'Faggot' and 'Tranny'? Call Me a 'Faggot' Huffington Post (blog) The terms "faggot," "dyke," and "tranny" are just as important to identifying our queer communities as "gay," "lesbian," and "transgender." It's convenient to just dismiss these words as hate terms. We've been preconditioned to anticipate abusive blows

  17. Started by Lori,

LGBTQIA Initialism It refers collectively to "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender" people. In use since the 1990s, the term "LGBT" is an adaptation of the initialism "LGB", which itself started replacing the phrase "gay community" beginning in the mid-to-late... This is an interesting article examining the origins and expansion of the term LGBTQIA ~ Lori

  18. This is what I did to get the gender designation mark changed on my driver licenses. First, I found this video in which the professor told the class to check the laws in the state that they lived in. Oh yes I have post this video in our forum under the (Male to Female (MtF) Crossdresser Discussion) look for the thread Transgender 102. I call up DMV here in California and found out to change the M to F all I need to do is get the form and have my doctor sign it. Then I got on line found the form printed it out called the doctor and ask if I may bring it over so she could sign it. I also attached a letter briefly explaining what this form was about. I have l…

  22. Started by Lori,

Early in my transition, confused and feeling alone, I was excited to find that there was a local group called Tri-Ess in my area. I reached out to them for help... and was shot down! Why? Because I identified as bisexual and transsexual. You see, Tri-Ess was, and still is, only for heterosexual male crossdressers and their wives. It was my first taste of the in fighting in the transgender community. It hurt to be excluded from a group where I felt I might be able to finally be myself. Still alone but desperate to find others like me, I turned to the personals that appeared in the local newspaper. I hate to date myself, but there was no Internet back in those days. Fina…

  23. Ok , A trend I have Expierianced and also Noticed , is the use of many substances that truelly hold NO safety , or tranquillity within their use . Drugs , Alcohol , Narcotics , even Herbal remedies , Hold an appeal and a draw to those who suffer any form of Gender Variance , even For those who simply believe that the answers lie within the use of such things . I can attest to the use and abuse of Alcohol , in an attempt to Hide the True Feelings and Nature of Who it was that was trapped within this Body , I suffered Major Alcoholism for 8 years I woke up grabbing the bottle and went to bed placing it beside my Bed at night . Until I relized " I am drowndin…

I never really thought about this at all. ...Duh!! ...Posers! who masquerade as transfolks < I hate predators> Information: Back by popular demand: internet fakes This is part of my larger look at the issue of trans wannabes on the internet and issues of internet safety for young people. The problem of fakes continues unabated, with recent examples coming from the so-called "transkids.us" movement, fake "transkid" author JT LeRoy, and the fake "transkid" featured at boy2woman.com. Most of these sites are by kooks and wannabes, but a few are run by scam artists looking to make money by pretending to be transwomen. Lest anyone think this is a phenomenon limit…

I attend an affirming church where my wife and I have become members. This past Tuesday i shared with the pastor that I'm transgender. He was so happy that shared this with him. There are several gay and lesbian couples who attend regualrly. As far as I know I'm the only transgender person. I felt relief and joy after sharing this.
