Hi girls, Sorry if I am going to repeat myself a little, but I need more clarity. I am sitting in a hotel room in Beijing, feeling very frustrated. I was just told that my concerts have been cancelled as half of the orchestra is stuck in the snow, so I have lots of time to worry about my gender problem. After spending some time with Pantau in the world of queer people in Bangkok, I now know that there is a place where it is not a big deal to be different from straight males and females. Being surrounded by so many different types of gender rebels, I feel quite comfortable. But I won’t be living in Bangkok for the rest of my life. I live in Bangkok because of my work a…

This post is primarily in response to Pantau's question about western therapists. Do they really help or do they try to "fix us". I have only been seeing a therapist for 6 months. I found my therapist on my own , I was first refused a theapist as I am not able to come in as often as they wanted. With a bit of persistence thet recommended a therapist to me , she is wonderful , very understanding and supportive . Most importantly she is not trying to "fix" me , and she has helped me to find confidence and courage to be myself , I am still not completely out yet but I am miles ahead of where I started. I do know however that there are those who will just put there stamp on y…

I'm a pre-op MtF and ever since I can remember I've prayed to God to PLEASE let me get pregnant. Although I know on an intellectual level that someone born with a penis isn't going to get pregnant, emotionally I can't help but to want to give birth to my own children. I know how insane this sounds, but I see this as one very big indicator that I have a female brain and tell psychiatrists about this thought when they ask why I think I want to have srs. Sorry if this bothers you, really, I just needed to get it out.

I'm now in a multiple electrolysis per week phase trying to clean off what was left by the laser (for some reason it just didn't do as much for me as it should have, and this was the same people who were helping others on the site who got much better results.. *shrug*). More exciting than that, I visited a doctor today for HRT consultation for the first time. We went through a bunch of basic health questions and family history. I had some mixed feelings coming away from there ... apparently I have some things that will not prevent me from doing HRT, but may very well force me to take extra drugs and use estrogen shots instead of any of the other methods (bleh ..... *shive…

Hello, My name is Steve and I am posting here under the name I used years ago, in the MtF discussion because that has been my experience. I would like to share a little about what I have learned and battled through for over a decade. I am a man. What a simple truth that has been so unclear at times. My manhood has been under assault by lies about there being more fulfillment as a female. I have in the past joined forces with these lies in pursuit of feminization. My post here is targeted at those who feel compelled to embrace the good feelings of the fantasy we have had for years, but deep down do not want to go down that road. If you are a man and feel like you ar…

Hi there, I am new to this site so hello all. :-) I'm a 29 year old post op woman, who had surgery in 2000 with Dr. Meltzer. I'm writing in hopes that other MTF post-op gals could share how they care for their "parts." Unfortunately, I have had a seemingly continuous discharge (sorry to be graphic) for the last five years and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I long ago lost the post op care literature that the doctor gave me, and so I don't know how often a TS is supposed to douche (I do it very rarely) and as I said, if others could post their vaginal care "regimens" (how often do you douche and with what solution, etc) I would be truly grateful. Perhaps by hearing …

Hi everyone. I'm an 18 yr old mtf who's been on hrt for a little over 17 months. Some of y'all probably already knew that. I don't doubt that one day I'll get FFS and SRS, along with a good voice coach and some electrolysis, but it's what happens afterwards that I don't know about. Anyway, I'm in college and I'll likely graduate in 4 years. But, the thing is, I have no idea what to do with myself in life. I already know what I want -- friends and, if I'm lucky, a lover, but I see no prospects for me ever having either of those. I've been a loner since pre-school, and people don't ever let themselves come close to me. Now, I'm out about being TG, and I definitely…

I just started taking 2 differant medication's used as I was told by my Dr. as Testorine blocker's. I am taking Spironolactone, and Proscar(Finasteride). I was told I could use both in combination in the hopes of deturring facial and body hair. I am currently under going electrolysis for beard removal and just wanted to get some feed back from anyone using iether of these 2 medications as T-Blocker's,specifically how long it takes too see visable results and how these medications have worked for other's. Well I've noticed a lot of people aren't yet on HRT. Why is it taking so long? I'm by no means trying to rub anything in. Perhaps I was in some stupid way a "special case"? ( I'm used to that. Beena ginuea pig all my life with medicine, GID wasn't the only disorder I was born with. ) I came out in December of 2004 to my parents. Received councilling and was on T-blockers by I believe April 2005. Then I was on Estrogen by I believe August. And finally I was put on Progesterone at December of 2005. Is my progression fast? Or is it merely a case of me having no concept of time? It seems to take much longer for you other girls and I don't get why? Raises all sorts o…

Today was my first day with the gender therapist a F2M medical activist had found for me, only about ten minutes from my workplace. (Which is amazing, here in the middle of cattle country.) She's not a "niche" counselor, she deals with many other patients, but she has actually had a number of transgender clients and even walked with at least one the whole way through transition; so she is probably the most qualified in my neck of the pastures. (She told me today that there are many therapists in our area who would not even touch a TS patient. Which is as expected -- I live in a mini-Bible belt, it's all Bush country around here.) Talking to her, it was very clear to…

This post contains excerpts from the transgender forum on this message board. How to tell your friends, family and co-workers about your intention to begin transition can be a frightening experience. Please use this thread to post your quesitons or tips. We'll start with some of mine. Note for readers: I do not recommend that anyone risk losing their family unless they are firmly dedicated to pursuing gender reassignment or their desires are so strong as to make occasional crossdressing in secrecy an impossibility. We can't control exactly how others will react, so think long and hard whether you really need to tell others in your life. I believe the most important…

Ok I've been seriously losing weight over the last 2 months, and I've dropped off about 15 pounds or so. I'm startin to see some flaws in my figure that I worry will be hard to mask when I try to pass as a girl. Around my waist measures 30 inches. Around my chest, (I have no breasts whatsoever yet, so this is just my ribs), is 37 inches. My ribs are kinda visible now too, so there isn't anything left to lose up there. Anyway from the waist down I think I could look pretty good. I've tried on some friends pants and it did look very convincing. I'm sure hormones will only help that. However I just worry that my large shoulders and chest will give everything away…

In contrast to the Being treated like a lady! thread, here is something that happened yesterday. I just spent the weekend in Chicago at a board of directors meeting for Lutherans Concerned. One of the other directors is a transman named Galen. Yesterday we were at the airport to catch a flight back to Minneapolis and stopped at the food court to get some breakfast. We both opted for breakfast burritos. We were both asked if we wanted guacamole. I had to pay 75 cents extra for my guacamole. Galen got his for free. So we're looking for a table, and Galen starts in being insensed that he didn't have to pay extra and I did. Frankly, I hadn't noticed that it had h…

  16. I just had a thought that I wanted to toss around to get some opinions on. Yesterday I met this young man that was 6 foot 7 inches tall. He wore a size 16 boot. His hands were very big, one of his fingers was the equivalent of two of mine. I just couldn't help but wonder.... If I was that huge would I completely toss out any ideas of myself being transgendered and wanting to be a woman? I tried picturing this very large young man dressed to the hilt as a female. It was kind of a funny thought. I don't think that I would want to be a woman being that huge. I would love to hear some of your opinions on this. You really had to be here to see this guy.

I'd like to hear some opinions on this. I told my parents I am FtM more than half a year ago. They still call me by my female name, talk about my life as though I lived like a girl, and discourage me when I'm talking about anything except seeing a psychiatrist (my mother really believes in therapy an all such things). I told my mother (very seriously) to call me by my male name after she'd called me by my female name when I had some new friends (who'd only ever heard my male name) with me when visiting her (she lets us use her apartment to party a little sometimes, it's a big apartment and she lives alone so she likes having people around). She "tried" for half a day,…

Is it just me, or do you too find the term shemale, not only very incorrect but also very offensive? Now don't get me wrong, (Im not having a go at ANYONE - Im just having a B.i.t.c.h) but that term, "shemale" to me invokes images of things that I don't even want to talk about. Now Im not a prude either and have been around the block once or twice (or five times) it just that, well you know....... We are not shemales....we are people, with hearts, emotions and feelings, We are not "things" to be treated with contempt and disrespect. As humans everyone has a god given right to be treated with respect by their fellow man, and as a Trans person, or as a trans community we a…

Hi All! I'm very much interested in hearing from you about your experiences with transition, and how it affected your life at work, both positively and negatively. If I may, I'll start this string with a recap of what happened to me. I'd like to tell you that my transition on the job went smoothly. The reality is I lost TWO positions during the first two years of my physician-prescribed HRT regimen. Both situations were a bit of a nightmare. At the first job, which was telephone research (cold-calling), I was flat out told by my less-than-sympathetic boss that, "until you cut your d*** off, I will call you Paul." This after I had informed him …

My own research has yielded the following possibilities: Minneapolis - There's the transgendered program at the U of M to consider; I also have a single contact in that town who has offered to help me get on my feet... but it's been a long time since I've been on 'em, and she's a good friend but with no real experience in dealing with transge…

This was written by me in April of 1999. It was my first published internet editorial, and addresses my earliest impressions of this community. You will see that philosophically I have evolved beyond the opinions expressed here, particularly as they apply to my own life and plans for the future. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~THE LADDER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am a fairly recent arrival to the transgendered "community," for want of a better word, having first made contact with you all in January of this year. Until that time, I traveled this road in total isolation-- had never spoken to or met another person like me. In the four months since my first foray onto the internet, sp…

Well, now that visually my transition has me in a state where I pass as a female in public quite seamlessly. But it didn't quite prepare me for the casual shivalry, I've had older men - whom quite frankly I should be bloody opening the door for - opening the door for me to go into shops and things like that. Male doctors who have pulled out chairs for me to sit down. Despite being quite young, I am rather femminine and a little old fashioned. So it surprises me first that I didn't think to expect this behaviour. But what surprises me most, now, however is when a woman did it for me. Now, I am not shy about it. I am what would be deemed as a lesbian. I am probably te…

If money was no object at all, what makes some women feel they MUST have SRS, while others are perfectly content as is. Of course I understand that assimilation into the female populous is a need for all women, just wondering why some dont care about SRS while others will get it done if it's the last thing they do. Take finances out of the picture, what are the driving reasons? Also, I was wondering what needs to be done physically, if anything, before you can actually change your drivers license/passport etc. Can you also get your birth certificate changed? -Kim

I have moved from a large Metro Plex to a small rural area in south Texas and have been with out my medication for three years. The hot flashes and night sweats have become unbearable and weight loss mood swings etc. Problem is I have no idea how to go about finding a doctor to prescribe my medication and or if medications have possibly changed over the years. I also am wondering what the side effects for a post op that are not taking their medication? Anyone have any simuler experience or know where I might start to look for a doctor? Today i got my first 2 scripts from the doctor for spiro and avodart. I believe that they are both once a day for now. The doctor told me to think about how i want to take the hormones. 1. Build up the estrogen 2. Build up the spiro. or 3. slowly build them both up together. I decided that i wanted to start off with the spiro and get rid of my testosterone first. I have looked on many sites and havent found any answers for sure, but i was wondering if from anyone of you gals who have taken spiro, what exactly in terms of bodily change can you expect? The doc said that i will notice changes in my hair after a while, but i was also wondering what other changes will come…
