I've been doing some research on male-to-female sex reassignment surgery and, so far, I've only found one predominate type of surgery: penile inversion. Considering the advancements of cosmetic surgeries over the years, I'm surprised that this is the only type of SRS mentioned. Does anybody know of a male-to-female SRS procedure that does not involve removal of the penis? There are two reasons I ask this. One is that I'm trying to compile information for an academic website in which I outline the kinds of sex reassignment surgeries availabe. The other reason I ask is that it would also allow one to become somewhat intersex through SRS, without having to 'go all the way.' …

Ok I've been seriously losing weight over the last 2 months, and I've dropped off about 15 pounds or so. I'm startin to see some flaws in my figure that I worry will be hard to mask when I try to pass as a girl. Around my waist measures 30 inches. Around my chest, (I have no breasts whatsoever yet, so this is just my ribs), is 37 inches. My ribs are kinda visible now too, so there isn't anything left to lose up there. Anyway from the waist down I think I could look pretty good. I've tried on some friends pants and it did look very convincing. I'm sure hormones will only help that. However I just worry that my large shoulders and chest will give everything away…

I read this blog today and thought it was certainly worth sharing - Beth "I look at being trans as a blessing, not a curse. You think I wouldn't have loved to have been female from birth? Yes. Am I envious of younglings like Kim Petras and Jazz who either got to or are growing up as girls and have loving parents who helped them do so? Yes. You think I wouldn't love to go through a day without hearing about a transperson being disrespected or killed somewhere on the planet? Yes. You don't think that some days I would love to just be another 6'2" statuesque Black woman on the planet blithely going about her day and not having to constantly do hard solid thinking abou…

I want to come out so badly, I'm sick of walking around in this male body with everyone looking at me as a boy, but whenever I'm about to say this sentence to a friend "I'm transgendered and in a few years I plan to become a girl", it just won't come out of my mouth.

Today i got my first 2 scripts from the doctor for spiro and avodart. I believe that they are both once a day for now. The doctor told me to think about how i want to take the hormones. 1. Build up the estrogen 2. Build up the spiro. or 3. slowly build them both up together. I decided that i wanted to start off with the spiro and get rid of my testosterone first. I have looked on many sites and havent found any answers for sure, but i was wondering if from anyone of you gals who have taken spiro, what exactly in terms of bodily change can you expect? The doc said that i will notice changes in my hair after a while, but i was also wondering what other changes will come…

Hi Everyone, Sorry for starting a new topic. I'm dealing with a lot of jealousy issues with my gender therapist. For years I have felt jealous towards other women. I guess it started back when I was in Grade School and seeing girls going thru puberty and all. I wanted to be them. Then HS I wanted to be the cheerleader. I even was jealous on my wedding day. Although my wife knows all about me I refuse to tell her about things I have been jealous of with her. On my wedding day I wanted to be the Bride. I hated not being the bride. I wanted to be the woman that my wife was that day. Through the years of marriage my jealousy grew stronger, everything from her GG body, to w…

I'm curious about something that has me thinking after reading the vagina envy thread. I've heard of amputees who say they still feel their limbs after losing them. Does that happen after SRS also? I would imagine that certain nerve pathways are still functional and active after SRS, they are physically in different locations but the mind might not sense this immediately. Does it take time for everything to start feeling where it is versus where it was? Hope this makes sense. MIWBJ

Note: I hope this article is a good one. I hate to admit it, but I didn't read it all - I usually read anything I am about post. When I saw the length of this blog, I thought, *nooooo, I can't do that whole thing!* (believe it or not, I'm really not overly fond of reading. And here I am...on a forum!). But the headline seemed like it would be of interest. I hope it wasn't misleading. If it was, you all just line up and you can each cyber kick me (once) where the sun don' shine. I haven't really started looking into HRT "officially" yet but continuing my other post, I'm trying to see what I'm getting into here, if anyone has some advice. First one (I hope this is within the forum rules, my apologies if not) -- why does the standard HRT regimen call for spironolactone instead of something like androcur? I guess they both have different side effects, but is there something that makes spiro safer overall? Second one.. what the heck do you eat?! I understand spiro causes potassium retention, which means you can't have a lot of high potassium foods.. but looking down a few lists of recommended "high potassium" foods for people with normal diets…

I am still contemplating issues on feminizing myself. I was wondering if a person oriented there diet to food and herb very high in estrogen could they get female features slowing over time. I am presently vegan and eating high estrogene foods and drinking herbal teas red clover(high in estrogen) and milkthistle(for the liver). I am still in that middle point deciding about being a CD or a TS. Please any advice would be helpful.

Hello my name is Jeff and I’m 30. I recently came to a realization in my life that I might identify as a women but want to seek advise because I am attracted to women and married and don’t want to hurt my wife. My realization came recently when I decided to shave my entire body. It felt liberating and a little more like who I’m meant to be, I’ve been dressing like a women whenever my wife isn’t home panties, dresses, leggings and ,bras when I do this I feel at home but also repulsed at my current body wishing that I looked how I felt in my wife’s clothing. I have moments of being comfortable with myself but always when I am very busy. I never thought about this …

Well, now that visually my transition has me in a state where I pass as a female in public quite seamlessly. But it didn't quite prepare me for the casual shivalry, I've had older men - whom quite frankly I should be bloody opening the door for - opening the door for me to go into shops and things like that. Male doctors who have pulled out chairs for me to sit down. Despite being quite young, I am rather femminine and a little old fashioned. So it surprises me first that I didn't think to expect this behaviour. But what surprises me most, now, however is when a woman did it for me. Now, I am not shy about it. I am what would be deemed as a lesbian. I am probably te…

Ok...back to the task at hand. I have a problem. Usually, when I need information, I use wiki, google, or if its newsrelated, the news paper. However, usually when it comes to exercise and 'body' issues, I google or use health sites. Back in May I began to become committed to the one thing I hated most in my younger life; running. I know, many think its crazy but I made it out in my mind to run daily, 4-5 days a week, at about 2-3 miles a day for 30 minutes. I didn't stick with it much and while the first two weeks I didn't miss a day, my defeatist mentality along with my excuses (well I only weigh around 155-160, why exercise?) I didn't keep with it too terribly lo…

I posted a much longer chunk over at Beginning Life, but I wanted to tell you too: On Feb 17, my wife told her parents about the situation. On Feb 23, I told my sister. On Sunday, I'm driving down to tell my parents. No idea how that will go. My mother is fragile and religious, my father is back to his old drinking game again. I had to decide that I had to have no expectations for them. Regardless of their reaction, I'm okay and can take care of myself. They're free to respond however they wish. My in-laws have not talked to me yet. Mostly, they're not sure of what to say or how to process it, and I didn't want to intrude. My MIL is religious and thinks it…

While wanting to remain entirely within the board's rules on not discussing dosages and so forth, I'd like to hear of others' experiences with supplementing their estrogen regimen with progesterone or any form of progestin, but especially 'natural' i.e. micronised progesterone. Effects, both good and bad would be interesting to read about and whether people feel whether it's been beneficial to them for whatever reason. I'm aware that its use is somewhat controversial for TSs but its near-impossible to find any useful literature on the subject, however I'd like to know a bit more about things before I see my endocrinologist in November. Thanks in advance for your …

Hi Jo Jo, wanted to tell you that I enjoy your posts, they are very honest and forthright. After reading in the topic "Pollaxed" that you were forced back into the closet, I am wondering, how is that possible for you. Did you come out to your wife, live it for a while, and then were forced back in the closet in order to keep your family intact? That sounds awful, during this time that you have been hiding, were you able to express your female side at all? Does your wife really think it is that easy to switch back into her husband, that the other side of you is forgotten? During the time you have gone back undercover, has your marriage thrived for it? Sorry for all t…

If you were sitting in a room with post-op's and/or some that have been 'out' full time and could ask them any question what would it/they be? I was never shy when given the opportunity and one of the best opportunities is finding local groups. Personally the group I found on the East Coast was not close but did go a few times and made it worth while by asking questions.

I was dreading ever getting to the point where I'd ask this question, but here I am. So I guess I'll ask. What do you do while you 'wait'? There are a ton of things right now that people keep telling me, oh, it just takes time. You just have to be patient. Hormones, learning voice (which occasionally hits awesomeness and very rarely has any usable consistency, still). Electrolysis, weight loss, and of course vain attempts to save up some money for FFS and/or GRS later. I'm probably dumb and I'm probably doing this all wrong. I dunno. I don't think I'm in much of a position to say one way or another anymore. What is indisputable is the following: I'm too femi…

So my Dysphoria has been really get to getting to me. Probably because I have been trying to fit into the mold everyone else has wanted me to fit into. Not the one I feel I should fit into. In any case it has made me depressed even worse and making me not want to do anything. So last night I decided I have to be me and if anyone else doesn't like it too bad. So I shaved my legs chest and arms. And soaked in a nice warm bath with the candles lit. It was so relaxing. I feel so so so much better now. Its gonna be hard to stay this way for me but I just need to. For me. When you feel like your mind doesn't fit the image of your body then you got to make changes to help with i…

Hi everyone, I'm a 24 yr old gender questioning young adult from Michigan. Is 24 to late to start hrt for decent results like breast development. I consider myself a late boomer in development because my male characteristics are just kicking in. I have a slight beard, slight male browline that sticks out a little bit, and reduce body hair for my age. My inner feelings feel strongly female. However, i never really dress before except for wearing a bra which was awkward but great. It was like a release. The reason why i never really dress before because i afraid of being caught. Also, i never was really into girlie things because i like to go hunting and go to heavy…

Hi All! I'm very much interested in hearing from you about your experiences with transition, and how it affected your life at work, both positively and negatively. If I may, I'll start this string with a recap of what happened to me. I'd like to tell you that my transition on the job went smoothly. The reality is I lost TWO positions during the first two years of my physician-prescribed HRT regimen. Both situations were a bit of a nightmare. At the first job, which was telephone research (cold-calling), I was flat out told by my less-than-sympathetic boss that, "until you cut your d*** off, I will call you Paul." This after I had informed him …

This is a list of questions I ask myself everyday. The answer to them all is yes but does that make me a girl? Do I like womens' clothes? Do I like make up? Do I want breasts? Do I hate my penis? Do I want men to find me attractive as a woman? I know I am not gay. Homosexual sex is not appealing to me. I know if I was a real woman I would want vaginal intercourse. I am not a transvestite. I don't get a sexual charge form womens' clothes. It is more of a choice and how I want to be presented to the world. I don't have a woman's or a man's brain. It is kinder and more thoughtful. The way it should be for everyone. Does all this add up to wanting to be a…

Hi Bonnie, good idea to not hijack that thread. I'm just wondering if you would consider yourself to be a CD more than a TS? I mean, if your family didnt care either way, what do you think your path would be? Since you are looking to find a man that would treat you as female, would that be found in a gay man, do gay men have issues with their partner wanting to be female, I don't know. I hope you can find some happiness living the way you need to right now, you have already had to go through alot.
