I have known 'Alan' for nearly 30 years. It wasn't until 2006 that I met 'Alana' and, frankly, thought of 'her' as some sort of freak. It took transition, MY transition, for me to 'see' differently -- to 'understand' there is only one person, one spirit, no matter what 'label' I chose when addressing that person - either Alan or Alana. A good way for me to explain, and understand, is using my caterpillar/cocoon/butterfly analogy. You don't see a caterpillar and call it a butterfly even though you know it will be a butterfly someday (i.e., it's difficult for me -- and I'm sure others -- to 'see' a male and recognize that male as a female). The cocoon stage…

I truly wish i had the courage to be who i wanted to long long ago..instead of purging my feminine side..feeling i was doing something wrong..so the other night i did it for the first real time. Hi,I am Michelle and I am a pre op ts living as a woman, now 33.I was not lucky at first. It all started at an early age, about 5 years old that I had feeling I was truely a girl.I did raid my mom's closet and try on her shoes and pantyhose. She saw some were out of place.I was finally caught when I was 14 and she was not too happy including my own father.I finally said it to them that I am truely a girl. They did not accept it at all and kicked me out for good.I thought I was a lost cause after that and thank god my Aunt Bev came to the rescue.Brought me in to her home and said I was welcomed in.After that she saw I was not happy at all. Finally threw my male wardrobe out and …

Hello, been crossdressing fulltime for 12 years now. It was after my 35th birthday seeing there was an inner female inside of me that wanted out and knew about it when I was in my teens. First was going into my wife's closet taking out a dress of hers and trying it on. I enjoyed and realized how comfortable it was to wear. Luckily I put it back carefully how she had it in there and never questioned me at first. Then I was secretly buying women's clothes including shoes and my wife noticed the changes in me knowing something wasn't right. Plus she knew someone went into her closet seeing nothing out of place. I did finally confess to her that it was me and tried on a dres…

So, first post - always hard to know what to say. I identify as MtF transgender; and I'm starting to find my way in the world. I'm out to some close friends socially and at work, although not fully yet. I hope that will change as my confidence grows. Anyway I will lurk a bit, say hi if you like.

Hi my name is "Skibz" and my best friend of 15 years is transgendered and NEEDING to transition from his female body into the male body he was meant to have. I've always kind of figured my bestie was trans because he expressed many things growing up that are kind of common transgender feelings about being in the wrong body and wanting to be male and such. Anyways I'm a HUGE supporter of him transitioning and I just want to do everything I can as his best friend to be the best support I can be for him as he's deciding what exactly he wants to do and going through the trials of living in this body that's such a prison for him and in a world that doesn't always accept or und…

I am new here, just thought I would say hello. I am one of those who really waited much too long to accept that I was TS, but I have studied GID and TS for a long time. I have been in gender therapy since July, on my second therapist (much better than the first), I've been on Spiro for a couple months, my therapist just approved me for HRT, should get my scrip in a couple weeks or so. My wife of 30 years just left this weekend, but it is a relatively amicable separation. She understands, but she has her own developmental issues. Two grown kids. Transition is something I have wanted since I was a teenager, but it still scares me; but not transition per se, but all…

I'm 42 Transgender I grew up in a single mother home the youngest of 4 and the only boy. And was essentially raised as a female. It started with my sister's playing dress up with at an early age there are even old pictures of me dressed up in a pretty little dress with pig tails and bows in my hair. Being around all females all the time I developed a deep appreciation for the female body. In my very breaf public school experience I got picked on beat up and bullied by both boys and girls, because of my feminine appearance and wardrobe choices, all my decision, my mother bought me boy clothes but I refused to wear them, they weren't pretty and i felt un…

Glad to be here. I'm Lynn, not open to dating but am open to learning. I'm sorry if I appear reticent. I've been under attack in past online trans groups and am inclined to keep quiet because of it. I'm post-op, but know there have been many changes in the Trans community since my transition.

I would like to say Hello to everyone here, and a nice thank you to the people who started this wonderful resource center, and to the maintenance team and all the volunteers who give their time for us. My nickname is Lulu, I am a sixty year old female. I started my actual transition in 2009 and had SRS in Bangkok Thailand in November 2010. I returned to Thailand in 2012 for additional surgeries. Thailand is my home, it is where I was born. As with many of you, I have only begun to live and there is so much to do ! I have read many posts, and I believe that everyone visiting this resource center will benefit greatly from the wealth of information and suggestions. Thank yo…

Hi my name is Amie, I spent many hours on tgguide over the last couple of years. I have had legal gender reassignment in the form of Orchiectomy and now have scheduled date for Vaginoplasty in February of 2013. I wrote a book about my experience called the Transgender Paradox: To Be Oneself. I care deeply about this community and have dedicated my life to offering support to transgender individuals especially those who wish to reach out to me. I had a little trouble logging on over the past months. I was very depressed because my spouse of 18 years divorced me. She has difficutly even being friendly anymore, of course that is typical in most divorces. So I als…

In the 1980's, I could be found on CompuServe and usenet, so if anyone thinks they know me from back then, they're probably right. I transitioned in 1985. I'm out about my past, but I don't wear it on my sleeve. I'm currently working in technology, but plan to graduate May 18 with an MDiv and pursue ordination in the United Church of Christ. I live in Joliet IL with my partner of 24 years.
