Hi everyone, my name's Claire Bailey, and I have been living as a woman for six years now, am 33, took me a long time to get the courage up to be the real me. Have often wondered why so many of us are given the wrong body, it's one of the most upsetting and hardest things to live with, I mean, being round some ones house you don't like for half an hour is a stress, but living inside a body you disgust is the hardest thing ever! Gosh, I spent 26 years waking up and saying to myself, god I wish i was a woman, and if I cant be, ill die trying It's pretty crazy when you think about it, most people don't understand, they cant, how could they? When I was five, I woke…

A half a year has come and gone. Pride month is over heree in New York City but then again it's not. The real work begins. Since coming to my church family, I have had a transformation of sorts. Now I need to be visible. I will meet with the assistant minister and bounce a few ideas I have off of him. Where this is leading I don't know. I really desire to reach out to the transgender community.

I find the loneliness of it all being the most difficult. I've looked for support groups within NJ, and I have found that most of them have disbanded, the rest seem to be purely political and don't seem to care anything for support, just combat.

How do you handle those awkward family moments? Saturday I was at my brother's house visiting. I see them once every few months. I live as female part time so currently I work as a boy, see family as a boy, but otherwise I am Britney. I went to a party Friday night and then was at my brothers on Saturday afternoon. He was making fun of me cause I don't know anything about football or what a waiver wire was. Saying thing about the "man card" and ect. He has seen some of my kink photoshoots but from years ago when I shot as a boy so my family already thinks I am weird. As I was leaving his house his wife happened to point out that I was still wearing mascara from the ni…

Hello everyone - I'm new here. I'm looking for the member named "nellenelle" because I've seen her posts regarding visiting the Transgender Clinic at Dartmouth in New Hampshire. I live in New Hampshire and am in the process of seeking out competent gender specialists: therapists; endocrinologists; surgeons, etc. Nellenelle, if you're still here, I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts about Dartmouth's program. Also, are there other NH specialists you've heard good things about? I hope you receive this. If not, does any one else have any experience finding specialists in NH? Thanks! - LEN

I finally got to watch the movie that my spouse says that she accidentally erased from my DVR, right! I found the DVD on ebay and watched it last night all by myself, well with my two kitties and my dog, but they don't count really. I loved that movie. At the end when the motorcycle guy offered to escort the funeral procession, I never cried so much even when I watched old yeller as a kid. Unfortunately I got a late phone call and while I was crying I had to answer the phone so I had to rewind it and watch that part again. I hope that the person that called didn't think that I was being beaten or anything? I highly recommend this movie along with "A Soldiers Girl" as th…

Not sure if any of you deal with this. I have tried so many times to change things for the better. Big thing was in working to get the NH DMV to change policy. All to no avail. I am finding with all that....I am in a place now ...that...it takes everything inside of me , to step outside my own front door. So tired of dealing with, not being able to be me....no matter what I do. I just want to crawl into a hole and pull in the earth after me. I am just in a place where it takes all the strenght I have, to step outside my own door. That the only thing I look forward to is sleeping, because, there, I can dream.

Hi Everyone, I've been stewing about this and wasn't sure where to put it, so decided to get it out on it's own topic... The male testosterone...I've heard makes you "hairier, greaser and more horny.." and that is sticking with me like a raspberry seed in my wisdom tooth. Though I definitely want to transition at some point (and sooner than later is starting to sound super nice) I don't *like* hair on the face, or underarms. It's just me. I'd rather stay basically hair-free (though hair on my lower legs is fine). Add to that the idea of being "greasier" doesn't sit well at all (more prone to acne, perhaps?). Call me silly if you will, it's just the way I feel. I…

One day I had conversation with my social worker, we have known each other for quite some time as friends, and Laura is aware of my transition. Anyway, during another conversation with her regarding hormone therapy, and her respond is that she feels I'm going against nature, and so I get the impression that Laura is not being supportive.

  14. Hello everyone, I'm writing this with a lot of shame, but I'm hoping to find some guidance or just to feel less alone. I'm a 30-year-old man who has been trapped in my own mind for far too long. A big part of my story is isolation and a struggle with self-care. For about 15 years, I've lived in isolation, with no real-life friends, no job, and a deep-seated fear of social situations. This has taken a toll on my body as well. I'm struggling with my relationship with food—I don't know if it's the medication (Sertraline) or the depression itself—and I've gained a significant amount of weight. For context, I weigh about 125 kg (275 lbs) and I'm 1.73 m tall (5'8"). M…

  15. And other helpful tips. Not from "him" or "her," but from "them." You'd be surprised how many people ask me about my crotch. It's a lot. I have had people ask me which "parts" I have, how they look, what I plan to do with them. I don't run around with a sign that says "ask me about my crotch," but as soon as I bring up my gender identity to certain people, all of a sudden it appears on the discussion table like a highly inappropriate Seamless order. Yes, even in New York. Yes, even among seemingly "progressive" people. And it stems from the fact that most people you meet simply do not know much about non-binary gender identities. It usually goes like this: "So you don't …

Hello to everyone : First of all let me thank Bobbie Jo for showing this group to me . A little about myself *** I am a 62 yr young woman living in the shell of a male . I have been hiding this since I was about 9 yrs old . Wearing dresses and other Girls clothes at a young age and enjoy every moment I could be alone at home . I could never take on the macho image that people expect for someone my size 6ft 4in . Usually keeping to myself or chatting with the young girls in the Neighborhood . Always noting their hair and makeup fingernail polish . I kept all this inside me always asking myself why I was a boy. Years went by I got married a…

Yesterday I went to my GP to get a referral to the Gender Identity Clinic. I felt, to illustrate the matter, it best to go dressed appropriately. My doctor's is beside my place of work, so I dropped off my cycle pannier and trainers at my locker beside the office and headed over, dressed in a nice skirt, top and cardigan combo. I didn't bother with make-up or a wig, because I didn't feel like it. I wore my man boots, because my new girl boots haven't arrived yet. I like to mix it up a bit! In work I am not allowed to wear women's clothes until I have notified Human Resources and senior management at least one month in advance, to allow them to properly manage the "pro…

Why Most Transitioned People Don't Carry The Transgender Torch Where is it written that someone who has transitioned MUST help the (transgender) community?” asks reader Karyn Maynard in response to someone else on the comments board of a GLAAD post about Dawn Ennis. Karyn makes a good point, and the fact of the matter is, most people who transition move on from trans issues. They don’t actually see themselves as transgender people, even if they embraced the cause of “transgenderism” at some point in their journey. But they don’t live between the gender binary as so many transgender people happily do: the transitioned MtF person IS a female, and the FtM person IS a m…

  20. As I noted in my introduction, I am in the first stages of transition. But it feels like I am not in control. I had my nails done, and pierced each ear twice. I automatically shave each morning and put on my makeup. I can't even find my mens trous and have a closet full of ladies clothes and what must be the biggest collection of ladies shoes and boots (can't get enough tall boots). I make a point of going out every day even if I don't need to...just to be sure I am seen by people. Six months ago I was terrified to even walk through the makeup aisle; today I shop their like I own the place. And I won't even start hormones until next week; I must look odd as a femini…

If you are going to transition and wish to pass as a cis-gendered woman, where do you find your frame of reference? Women of my age have been mothers and are probably now grandmothers as well, they have lived all of their lives in the role I yearn to fill. They've been given help and guidance from mothers and grandmothers, female relatives and girlfriends. How do you make up for all that time and experience. As a transwoman, I would become the person I have though I should have been all my life, my crossdressing has always been a temporary fix, stolen moments which have always been moments alone. There has never a girlfriend around to tell me that, that shade of lips…
