I usually just lurk, but I guess I'm posting this because I don't really have anywhere else to write it. Recently, my car got keyed with the message "TRANNYS SUCK". I'm 95% certain it was the doing of my younger brother (who, bless his little soul, is now in juvenile detention for other things he did that evening). Currently, I have painted hearts over it in acrylic paint (I don't have enough money to have it professionally fixed - he got both my doors on the driver's side). Because of it, I was pretty much forced to "come out" to the rest of my family (funny thing was, I never actually told my brother), which I wasn't really prepared to do. It just has me par…

I have gone to alot of trans websites looking for support. In my living I deal with alot of discrimination, I hear it every day when I go to work,,,and even hear it when I work outside my home. And it seems like everytime i mention the hard times I am dealing with, I get put down by trans people in my community. They keep telling me they are not dealing with the harrassment I am dealing with...and then write me off. Like it's my fault that people don't accept me. I haven't tried to push my truth onto anyone. All I have done is try to be honest. And i will say...I now understand how brainwashing works. Because at the end of my work week....I have had so many peopl…

I just adore being a tgirl, I have finally found my inner and true self. I am almost out 24X7 now, not at work yet, but that will be coming later this year. I have met many great people, made lots of new friends, met lots of people online (a special wink at everyone on this board) I went grocery shopping today, a lady came around the corner and bumped into me with her cart while I was bent down picking out some pantyhose, she said, "oh I'm sorry honey, are you okay? Yes thank you,. I'm fine. cute, cute guy at one of the cash registers, hmm, yes, I think I'll go in this line. He rang up all my groceries, plus the bottle of diet coke I bought. He aske…

So, I was put in charge (since I suggested) of the transgender day of awareness as my college and I'll be working with Pflag, who will probably be doing most of the presentation, but I want opinions as to what kind of things we should talk about. Being as this is my first semester of being "Out" on campus I don't really know what I should touch on for my club or for the community. Suggestions?

  7. It isn't huge news that former Alabama governor and failed presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is no friend to the LGBT community, but it is curious how he clings to his bigoted ways in the face of widening understanding and acceptance of transgender people. This article titled Huckabee wishes he could've identified as female in high school gym appears on CNN.com. "Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said earlier this year that he wishes he could have Identified as a woman in order to shower with his female classmates after high school gym classes... A CNN reporter asked for his reaction to Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover in which the former Olympic champion, and self…

  8. I always heard the statistics about suicide among us but it never hit home as it did tonight. I just came home from work and this email was in my inbox: To Kareal, Excuse me Kareal, but I have to give you a message from Sharon, before I will do as she asked me too, and close down her account on FB. A few days ago, Sharon has passed away, after a long fight against her cancer and depression. She never told you that she knew so well how you felt and what you were going through. She wanted you to be strong and fight, as you had a chance to win, she didnt. It was her time and she was not strong neough to win the battle this time. I have to tell you that she loved…

I have been out and about in my neighborhood. I get some compliments about my attire, all positive. I wear sandals during these months and I have received some positive compliments about my feet. A man took me just last night that I have beautiful feet. I always seem to get compliments about me that I don''t expect.

 This has been a tough nut to crack since I went full-time in '99...Friendship. First thing I lost were all my bible-thumping straight friends, but I had family...then the family started to drop by the wayside... But I was still happily [for the most part] married to my best friend...no worries then. But then she left me [ouch]....thus I became essentially a social shut-in....I worked all day/week, coming home to my little cottage near the Lake, only to emerge the next mornig/monday for work...I was/am a working girl...a dream come true many times over...but no social life cause: 1. 15. I'm asked more and more often now "What group do you represent." with a stern look of consternation in many cases. I work WITH a couple groups now. The Livingston County Rainbow Alliance and Stronger Together of Western New York. Who do I represent? I represent Erica Elizabeth Ravenwood unless I otherwise say so, as in, "I'm looking for something the Rainbow Alliance can borrow." Or something of that nature. I do not represent, or fully support, the LGBT at this point in time. The reason being is we differ on just a couple but very important key points regarding the transgender subject and how to move forward with it. The things I support I support fully. The things I do …

I was just thinking on my way home from work yesterday, that I am so grateful to have accidentally found this message board. It's inexplicable, but I have not felt this much at home on any other site that I have visited, and this is the only board i hang with. I actually think about some of you during the day here and there, and look forward to checking in to see how everything is going for you. It's inexplicable because I am not tg, but the issues presented here are really universal, about real life humans making their way in this world. Issues concerning fear, rejection, family, confusion, transition, success and joy and peace. And no matter where you fall in those c…

I am wondering how much feminization in your face occurred for transsexuals, especially those in their forties to fifties, using estrogen, without factoring in the use of feminine make-up. Was the feminization, if any, noticeable to you and others? I have not noticed any facial feminization purely from using hormones. Perhaps by belated start, at fifty-seven before beginning use of hormones, largely explains this.

I am trying really hard to stay positive, but ? All I want to do is stop existing! May be people were right when they told me I am platitude. this person told me to leave the web site /chat room. This hurt my feelings very much! maybe I should not write this massage but it bothers me to be rejected, and judged again. Sorry to bother you; please forgive me. If you wish I will leave this one too? Thank you for your time. Peace Out

Hi everyone, I live in the US. I had a question about transgenderism (MTF). Since my middle teens, i have questioned my gender because i rather hang out with the women then the guys. I wanted to be one of them. I can understand and relate to women a lot better than men because i know where they are coming from. From time to time, i question my gender in my mid twenties because i feel that i should of been a girl because i represent them better than men. However, i never crossdress before until a few months ago when i try on a bra. it felt awkward at first then it felt right. However, i don't know if i could pass or not because i'm the only child living with my mom…

  22. Hey everyone As someone who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I wonder if it is common among transgender or people who don't prescribe to the gender binary to have some kind of mental illness. Do any of you have bipolar as well (or something similar)? I suppose my biggest fear is that being bipolar will affect my treatment and diagnosis as a transgendered individual. Transitioning is crucial for me. I was doing a bit of research, and I can understand how the issues we deal with can cause a manic break, therefore making a mentally ill individual even more so. Mental illness definitely runs in my family, so I think being FTM and dealing with the emotional issu…

In those quiet moments, thoughts of where my journey has taken me fill my mind. I'm different and yet I didn't feel any earthshaking experience. This has been the way my journey has gone. I find these quiet moments rather refreshing. I've always been a quiet and reflective individual. Quiet spaces for me is nirvana. An empty church, park, among nature. These thoughts are clearest when I wake up in the morning. This has happening with more frequency. From time to time I wonder if my being transgender was the fulfillment of a Native American prophecy. There are those times I wish that I could travel by foot across the land. As a child I was fascinated by country roads…

Good for her. I wish I had done this at that age instead of trying to live up to other peoples expectations for far too long. http://www.ketv.com/cnn-news/19474067/detail.html OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha couple is allowing their 8-year-old son to openly live life as a girl. It’s a decision that means the child is no longer invited to attend Catholic school. Therapists and the child’s parents say the second grade student is transgender, a medical condition where a person’s inner sense of identity doesn’t match their biological gender. Some gender experts say as many as one in 500 people may be transgender or carry significant traits of the opposite sex. “It’s ki…
