  1. Wow - Sometimes I forget how much better it is for us in the UK. Police are instructed to treat people as per the gender they portray with disciplinary action if they don't. I've never carried any letters etc. to prove I'm transgender and not a 'pervert' and although I have had some issues with members of the great unwashed public its been small and generally just verbal.

Hugs to you girls in the less tolerant places (which if this morning's press is to be believed includes France http://www.metro.co.uk/news/864522-brigitte-bareges-sparks-outrage-for-comparing-gay-marriages-to-bestiality )

  2. Hear hear Brittany.

I haven't used a male toilet on purpose for over 24 months now and have never had any issues from that, whether at work or at more public ones in pubs and shopping centres. I've also used several unisex toilets in pubs around London and fully support their wider adoption - just as long as I don't lose the nice big make-up mirror ;-)

  3. I hope neither you nor your girlfriend are going to bank on any sort of apology. If he was drunk enough to do that in front of everyone, he'll either insist he had the right as well as the right of it or he'll blackout. Either way ...

I'm sorry her mother has passed. I hope you can help each other weather the passage.

No - I'm not holding my breath for an apology xx

  4. One other thing that comes to mind is that I'm lucky to have my doctor totally on my side with regard to the prescribing of the hormones. He's been just great but he has never dealt with a transgender person before and I have to prompt him for everything.

An example of this is that after he prescribed the 4mg a day tablets I had to ask him for a blood test to check my levels. We decided to do this after a month so I've settled into this higher dosage.

If I hadn't asked for it he wouldn't have remembered to offer it despite the advice letter from the Charing Cross GIC.

So remember girls - ask and ask again, doctors are fallible and you are likely just 1 of 30 people they will see that day, its all important in your head - let them know.

    Hugs

  5. Addendum:

Today (Monday 31st) I got a call from my girlfriend that there had been some bad comments about me from the Scottish members of the family that came down last week too.

They are worried that my girlfriend's brother will get some stick for his sister being my girlfriend. I have told her that I will be there for the funeral to support her, if me being at the service would distract people from thinking about the loss of her mother then I would stay away, but if its only about her brother (who is a drunk and a habitual drug taker) losing a bit of face among the rest of his druggie mates then fuck 'em, I'm going.

    Hugs
