okay, it's time to wake up already
maybe i AM really a boy
and this has all been a long, very long night
a night filled with a dream i no longer like

maybe the pressures of the world
the draft
would i have to go to war
all the things expected of a man
weighing on the shoulders of a young boy
was more than i could handle
and in a frightened moment
wished
that i was a girl
and that being my last conscious thought
i drifted off to sleep
and so started on this nightmare of a journey

and now
i wanna wake up
i don't like being a girl
i've learned my lesson
i'm a boy
i wanna grow up
brave and strong
just like my dad

i wanna wake up
