Hi, I'm still very new here and have read lots of other peoples questions, concerns and stories about the experiences they’ve had prior, during and after transition. I share similar stories and concerns and have asked many of the same questions. We trans-women and men share many of the same beginnings and realities, details vary and many have lost plenty. I am new to the forums and not really transgendered at all, but here to gain knowledge of transgender issues. I was wondering if anybody had made a study of transgenderism as it might relate to the Myer-Briggs personality classifications. There are 16 personality types in the Myer-Briggs classification system, and I am one of the most rare, INTJ (borderline ENTJ). Only 2% of the total population at very most is an INTJ. On top of that, it has a VERY STRONG GENDER BIAS as there are 3 male INTJ types for every 1 female INTJ type. Ok, so I have this really shi**y part time job until graduate school starts in July. I was in the break room yesterday, and they were bashing the gays and lesbians that works for us. They were talking about how many of them are homophobes and how they would literally drop everything and run away because they don't "want to get raped." I was so horrified over it. It was like 15 minutes of hell. I heard it from my own family the last thing i need to hear it from is my job. I looked on the internet and saw the company i work part time for is rated as the least friendly towards the GLBT community. Thank God i am only there for 4 more months.

Hi all. Putting this out there in case it might help someone else. I am in the process of making a gameboard. At the top of the board are my ultimate goals. They deal with health, relationships, spirituality, career....etc. I have then come up with the steps I need to take to reach each goal. the gameboard will have movable game pieces (probably velcro) that I can advance forward as I complete each step, or move backwards if I need to find an alternative route to the top. November is traditionally a busy month for me. I've bee slowed down the past few days by elevated blood pressure (doing better, thanks) but the mind is still sharp. Next Monday is Veteran's Day. I have marched in the past but this time I will be a spectator. Though my transness was hidden from me when I served I am proud of my service. To get everyone up-to-date; I have been in transition for four years, and am now a post-op woman living full time as such. Before and during my transition I suffered from a great deal of anxiety, largely due to my gender issues. These issues came to a head four years ago when my depression became so severe I was not able to make it through university. I have a definitely burning question for my own personal experiences to share and ask ANYONE about if they got hired dressing up in girls or men's clothes from being opposing genders?? I myself have been to 2 interviews and the HR person didn't call me back for the job position. I know I was over qualified & the position was sales merely not technical position. First I am not afraid to be out of the ordinary. I call that extraordinary. Also if I use the word disorder in here I am going by the current diagnoses of Gender Identity Disorder. I was wondering if maybe anyone had some tips in this area. I can't afford electrolysis just yet, going to start that as soon as I can, but in the meantime I'm trying to find a way to hide it. I have very dark hair, brown but so dark it's almost black, with facial hair to match. It grows fast, unfortunately (hoping when I go on hormones in a few months it'll help alleviate that), but the main problem is that even when when I shave thoroughly and my skin feels smooth, there's still that shadow on my face that gives away that facial hair was once there. My therapist recommended this book to me, and I finally picked up a copy the other day. I'm only about half way through it but it's already totally rocked a lot of my views and has (at the risk of sounding like a total marketing geek) really been pretty paradigm-defining for me. It's wonderful, she just comes right out and says all the things, bluntly, succinctly, and humorously, that everyone else (including us) has been afraid to say. I don't agree with everything she says, but I agree with enough that it's been really refreshing to hear someone else thinking them besides me. How many transgender people are there? The National Center for Transgender Equality estimates that between 0.25% to 1% of the population is transgender. This estimate is supported by estimates from sex researchers who have attempted to arrive at an estimated number of transgender people. I've been thinking a lot about this topic lately, especially as I've been reading that Gender Outlaw book. It actually fills in a major hole for me in my understanding of the world around me, because people often tend to assume that I will want to take charge, go first, take the biggest portions, whatever; that their needs are submissive to mine.
