Dear Jo jo, I sincerely hope you are well. I and many others in this forum have been concerned about you. As far as I know, you have not written any posts in awhile. You know how we are similar in certain ways, especially in wanting to be a female, making some efforts to live as a female, yet feeling a need to maintain existing marriages, thereby compromising some of our strongest inner needs. Jo jo, I hope again you are well. Best wishes. Koreen

Hello, I go by the name, Melody. I am 43yo, confused GID with a wife and 3 kids. When I was about 6 I wore my sister's dress, and loved it. At, 10 I would wear my mother's dresses. By 12, puberty began. I started to notice changes to my body which I did not understand. I thought that my penis was wearing away, and that my vagina would be exposed. I also thought I was growing breasts. I was both excited, and fearful with what everyone would think. I use to feel around for where my vagina was suppose to be. Throughout my teen years, I secretly crossdressed. Then, in my last year of HS, bought my own women's pants and shirt. I actually went to the ma…

  3. Navigating the social mores of the public restroom when you're not cisgender can be a tricky dance, practiced multiple times a day. BY Riki Wilchins, February 07 2013 5:00 AM ET "Yes, I know there's an app for that, which will enable your iPhone to locate the nearest gender neutral restroom. And if you you live in downtown Seattle or go to school at UC Berkeley, it probably works great. I usually find the nearest one is at least two time zones away." --advocate.com Op-ed: 'It's The Women's Room!' And Other Bathroom Complications

I live in northwest Pennsylvania, about 2 hours drive from Pittsburgh. Basically it’s not the best place for a transgendered person. There is, first of all no access to transgender friendly doctors or therapists nearby. It’s a completely conservative Christian dominant region. Put it this way, Democrat is a curse word around here. Plus there’s nothing for anyone to do except bowling or the “redneck bar & grill”. I will soon have the ability to relocate. In my profession, I can work near or within commuting distance to any major city. Where’s the best place to go? I love New York City but, hate the cold. San Francisco would be great but too expensive for me. Anyone g…

Hi, I'm a young adult and had a question about being transgender. I was wondering if you can be tg and don't really do girly activities. However, I had question my gender since being a teenager because i never could relate the men but could relate to women more. Does gender and sexual orientation differ. The reason is that i'm attracted to women instead men so i don't fit the typical tg scenario. I never dress before because i don't have any sisters and my mom clothes would never fit but i wanted to grow breasts since i was a teenager. I tried on a bra and it felt awkward at first but then i felt whole. I'm not sure if i could pass or not. I mainly do manly a…

  9. The trans community feels underrepresented under the LGBT umbrella but we need to play a part in fixing that ourselves 24 October 2012 | By Ashlee Kelly Ashlee Kelly: One transwoman who says trans people would help their community by being more visible. I love being part of a community. Knowing there are other people similar to yourself all around the country, even the world, is a comforting feeling. Whether the differences between you are small or huge, having the backs of those like you is an important safety net. As the saying goes, there is safety in numbers. That's why I am a strong believer in the LGBT community. -gaystarnews.com The silent 'T': are tr…

I would like to know how to get a prescription for hormones to transition. I have been giving it a lot of thought processing who I am day after day. I am a woman. It has taken me time to come out to myself, but I except myself for who I am. I am ready to take my first steps to transition and live as I truly am. Can anyone help?

A couple of opportunities have come to share my experience of being transgender. My waiting for one party to reply to me because of some details to be ironed out. A grad student wishes to inteview me. The other opportunity is on a lesbian website. I met the person who runs the site and she would love for me to share my experience. I first apologise for this long rant of mine and also i maybe unable to clearly articulate the nature of my present dilemma precisely. But nevertheless, i really would clearly appreciate of any insights from you. I have been trying to discuss the question with very many groups, i frequent, both online and in RL. Okay here is a brief outline of my present life, out of gradschool and on the way to job hunting. i have no ffs as of now, but i pass most of the time. I do not make a impressive personality but when strangers meet me , they see me most of the time as a dull, simple uninteresting girl. In short terms, I am comfortable with my present appearance most of t…

I always thought being fully transitioned was a physical thing. In the work I have done with my life coach this past year, I have come to realize it is so much more a mental thing. With the work I have done, it no longer bothers me that I have family that still wants to use wrong pronouns. I have come to realize that is their problem, not mine. I will even be spending Christmas with them . And if they can look at my hairy face and still call me a she...they are not too bright.

  16. Hello Everyone, I have a question - I have seen a lot people talk about positive impacts of a participating in a local support group. On the other hand I seem to be running into some problems. What has your experience been in participating in your support group? The problems: I live in a very conservative area - I managed to find a support group, but wanted to ask some questions regarding how public the meeting place is and so forth - if you can change at the meeting etc. It seems when I ask to attend there is no issue getting invited, meeting times, and so forth, but when I ask specific questions, I get a lot of silence - no response. Am I violating some unwr…

I'm not sure where to start so please bear with me. Since I can remember I have never been totally comfortable with being male. Most of the time I'm glad that I'm a man but yet I want to look somewhere in between a man and a woman. When I was younger I could pass fairly well and dressing up always made me feel stimulated and relaxed all at the same time. I'm 50 now, very young looking and I am married. My wife knows to some degree of what I am but she seems disinterested in it and perhaps threatened. She knows that I'm not gay. However, she has never been supportive of what I think is a need. This is going to get convoluted so I will try to have it make sense. …

Hi all. I have been in transition for 7 years, and now I am facing having to stop it all. I thought by now, I would have been able to get my hysterectomy surgery, but have never been able to come up with the money. And I am facing the consequences. Not sure how to explain it, but my body is in constant battle. The female hormones...the male hormones...the change of life crap that happens....I am dealing with the worst of the worst. And I am thinking, maybe it's just time to give up on my dream. I am a true transsexual. I knew I was male since I was 4 years old. But, I need to be realistic. There is no way I can ever afford my surgery. Been fighting...trying to …

There are several gay and lesbian couples who attend regualrly. As far as I know I'm the only transgender person. I felt relief and joy after sharing this.

I know it's a long shot, but I figured that any shot not taken is a guarenteed miss. I have recently been denied a job by a company. During my interviews, they *loved* my background, my interview went amazingly well, and in the final interview, they had employment pamphlets and folders out for what I assumed to be a job offer. At the end of the interview, they mentioned that they just were doing background checks for everyone they hire, and asked me if this were an issue. Because PA took 9 months to change my name, at that point, I had not had it legally changed, I mentioned that I was indeed transgendered and my background check would need to be run under my birt…

Help! My son is in need of some talk therapy from a child psychologist that deals with gender confusion. He is 11 years old and acts very "girly". He was born with a small penis and his mother and father (I am his stepmother)thought the entire pregnancy that he was female. They could not see a penis on ultrasound. I have only been married to his father for a short while, but in the two years I have known this child he has been asking questions about his gender. I am a nurse and feel it is our responsibilty to get him any help he needs in order to grow up as "normal" as possible. Kids make fun of him, and he feels bad about himself. I have an appointment with an adolecent …

I just wanted to share some info that my endocrinologist recently gave me. There are numerous articles on HRT reversible and irreversible effects, once HRT is stopped. Most of them state that these reversible effects will occur after 6 to 8 months (depending on the article). I was on HRT for 4 months, ending on June 30, 2006. I stopped because of certain health reasons, under the advice of my doctor. Everything is okay now, so, under the monitoring with my endocrinologist, I will commence HRT again within 2 weeks. Anyway, after only 4 months, I developed breasts approaching an A cup. I still have this size today, and have lost nothing after stopping HR…

  25. We have a very real chance that LGBT discrimination on the job will finally become illegal throughout the country. Congress is poised to pass and the President Obama has promised to sign a federal bill, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), that bars workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. But we need your help to persuade lawmakers in Washington that this is a problem that state and local government employees face too. We need to hear from people who wanted to work for a state or local government but have been fired, refused a job or faced harassment because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We are looking for…
