  1. I am a cis gendered straight white male. Currently, my oldest friend is working on her (I think she still uses female pronouns, that's in flux) journey. She's had a lot of turmoil on a lot of other fronts, and I don't envy her the path that brought her to today. When she told me her orientation was basically asexual, I really didn't care. It mattered not a whit, mostly because there's never really been any matter of sexuality between us, but also because I've never really understood why sexual orientation was such a big deal in the first place. Later, when she told me she was considering having her breasts removed, in large part I was happy for her, as they get in her way…

Can a male to female transsexual still get and maintain erections on hormone therapy?

  3. Started by freemouse,

So I am at work today, and a few people start to talk about Sen. Craig, and the whole airport bathroom occurance. There was a general level of disgust, that these things can go on in public bathrooms. I made the comment that I did not appreciate that sort of behavior, that I have a beloved 12 year old nephew who could be introduced to that nastyness and I would be really peeved about that. And, you know, the guys at work can't talk about this type of activity without a good chuckle. So the salesman at work says, when he was in Fort Wayne, he was warned of a public park, where this kind of lude behavior goes on all the time and he was warned to stay away from there. …

Today, just 10 minutes ago, my mother called me to tell me that another person of our community has been attacked by being slashed in the face by a woman. A Transman was attacked with a razor to the face after being a gentleman and offering two women a seat. After he got up and offered a seat next to the other females friend, they waited to get off but before they did, they slashed the mans face. I'm going to say this. In NYC, where I live, I will be carrying a consealed weapon of my choice. It will not be a gun nor knife or blade. It will not be mace or pepper spray. Ive lived in NYC most of my life and have been in transition for 2 years now. I'm not passable as I been …

  9. Hello, I'm a transsexual woman, I live in France near Paris. I'm a teacher and I've got a problem. My voice is androgynous (between male and female) and I think about voice surgery. My apparence is good, except I'm tall (1m84 which represents 6 feet) and my voice not that good. I'm 29 years old and I take hormones since 3 years. My ortophonist (the person which teach me to improve my voice) told me that there were a good technique in corea, so I'm thinking about it, and I would like to talk with people who had done this surgery. Excuse me for my english, thanks in advance, Tatiana

  10. I finally found a hairstylist that will take care of my hair thanks to my mom. Before this happened,I have been told to leave and will not be served. My mom talked to her hairstylist,Joanne and said she proudly does transgendered women too.Walked in meeting Joanne yesterday and we hugged. She seen my hair was a mess and we discussed options for me.Told her that I wanted something simple to take care of and one of the styles Joanne mentioned was a bob cut.I picked that and I always liked Heidi Klum's hairstyles.I seen this one and picked it, http://www.whairstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/heidi-klum-long-bob-hairstyle.jpg Went to work and I was a little emotional saying …

  11. I am looking for information about having bones that match the gender you identify with and not your birth sex. I am a 40 year old born male transgender person. I am waiting to see the endocrinologist for HRT still. I have always felt like my body looked feminine but later in puberty my chest deepened more masculine. When I was first near puberty my pelvis grew wider as I used to walk into door frames for a time and had bruises on both sides where the pelvic crest sticks out. Recently I had a CT scan done to check for kidney stones. I got the copy of the scan and used a 3D program to look at my bones. I have asked a doctor to look at the images and have asked on a biology…

Have any of you ever have any doubt or question being transgender and if so what made you come to terms with the fact that you are trans? Sorry if this is a dumb topic.

  13. I got to thinking about this today as I had to pick some automobile hardware at an auto parts store . I was dressed in a female top , the usual minimal jewelry , watch , ear rings . Even a decidedly female coat . I probably should have had a picture . O K , the manager who see's me all the time got talking with me about her Mother. I could tell that I was getting a detailed look. I finally leaned over the counter and said, "Look, I have both female and male parts, I'm transgender. Expecting a negative reaction , she patted my arm and said , lets talk outside . We did , she went on about her Mother .I listened . She was way more comfortable with ma that point. I ju…

Kate Bornstein brought this idea up in her book Gender Outlaw but sort of brushed it off as half-baked. The funny thing is, lately I've had an experience I can only relate to people as feeling a great deal like waking up from a life long brainwashing. Things suddenly seem so clear with the globs of mental goop starting to be removed. It is actually sort of similar to Tadatoshi's description in some ways ... of course I've always been a girl, and now that I'm finally finding the cracks in my clay facade, I am able to tear pieces away and both allow others to experience the "real" me and experience the world without a lot of the fog/dirt that has clouded the lens for many y…

Readers - i moved the post below, made by shannon (and replies with it) to afford the topic it's own space. quite often readers have questions or concerns about how to go about getting the gender and/or name changed on their BCs, or whether their state will even allow it. in the thread it originally came from, "I Have the Feeling that I Lie" by Jesse K, questions cropped up about which box to check for gender on forms. this eventually led to discussion about correcting/changing birth certificates -michael -------------------------- "I have never had anyone say anything about it outright, but I have on occasion encountered some of these documents again, af…

Annie wrote an article before about confidence, and how confidence alone can persevere... Most of us don't have near the difficulty to 'prove' their worth, than this person I want to show to all here. I must admit, I watched this show today on the suggestion of my friend, and was blown away. Since she loves this show, I decided to check it out and after watching it - I just thought it was *perfect* to illustrate the point. I'm not sure how crazy we are about linking, but, in case its no biggie, I suggest anyone who might need a lil proof that perseverance can indeed lead you to your goals, watch this amazing woman overcome harsh superficial judgement, and prove to…

  21. I'd like to start off by saying that I hope everyone is having a great time this festive season!! I've sort of spent the past few days just going through a lot of the discussions on the forum. I've been amused by the wit of a lot of the members of the forums, touched/moved by the struggles of some and over all I think I may already be growing fond of this site in a major way. I just came across a topic however that triggered the posting of this topic (which is my first ever on the site ) titled "Tides Commercial". Lately I've noticed that the media has come under fire (from the Queer Spectrum) for it's representation or rather misrepresentation of TG/TS folk. Espec…

It is that time of year when depression can slide into life and wreak havoc especially for those who are in a dark place. My hopes are that those who have nobody to share the holidays properly with do find activities to keep them active and not alone as this is not good for mental health. For those who have someplace to go but not so welcome say if you were to attend in attire of the opposite gender consider dressing androgynous, might not feel the best but better than staying home alone. Anxiety and depression is huge in our community and if at all possible is best to get ahead of this before the holidays.
