  4. "A gay dissident and a transsexual woman married on Saturday in what was said to be a first for Cuba, then draped themselves in the rainbow flag of gay pride and rode through the streets of Havana... the wedding, held on Fidel Castro's 85th birthday in what the couple had called a "gift" to the former leader, was aimed at advancing homosexual rights in Cuba..." 5. Should the LGBT Community Use Words Like 'Faggot' and 'Tranny'? Call Me a 'Faggot' Huffington Post (blog) The terms "faggot," "dyke," and "tranny" are just as important to identifying our queer communities as "gay," "lesbian," and "transgender." It's convenient to just dismiss these words as hate terms. We've been preconditioned to anticipate abusive blows

    Started by Guest Rhonda,

It has been 3yrs that I've been seeing my gender specialist/therapist, and during my last appointment meeting with her, she addressed male pronouns on me, although my true gender identity/expression is female. During my last conversation with her, she explained about my life living as a "man"? I frowned at her comment, although I'm not denying about my biological gender, its just her terminology that upsets me, I find it hard to believe that I lived my life as a "man" since I always acted like a girl, playing with my Barbie dolls, among other things that I already told her about my past life, that things boys don't go threw. Perhaps I might be over reacting, and that it m…

  7. Coming Out, a New York Times interactive feature, contains videos and stories from gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans people. It is advertised as a "weeklong series," but I'm not sure when it began...so members might want to check this feature out soon in case it disappears. I haven't seen all the vids, or read all the stories, but one was interesting to me - a young gay teen who was in ROTC. He mentions putting off going into the military after high school (despite the repeal of DADT)...he feels he might still have to hide who he is. I wanted to go into the army after high school, but didn't because back then, it was assumed that any female in the army was gay. I …

  8. Hi girls, I’m wondering what’s the difference if one was just to take estrogen vs if they just took t-blockers vs taking both? since I’m going to Japan it seems the doctors there are wary of T-blockers because of some side-effects that may happen. But should I push for it? Of course I’ll get my blood checked first, but I really really don’t want to become more masculine. The doctor claimed the estrogen would block testosterone anyway. Usually when you take estrogen do they give you progesterone too? If so I forgot what progesterone does(dang it memories of sophmore year of high school has failed me). If I were to only take estrogen with no t-blockers…

I was just going to PM Daniele (Green Acres Gal). But, then I thought maybe others would get a kick out of this one also. Alex is a rather large breeder pig who lives on a cattle ranch where I've been allowed to visit the horses. He is considered somewhat of a pet there. A ranch hand, who got a kick out of watching Alex chase me around informed me: Alex seems to think he's a dog. He even goes out on small cattle drives when it is time to rotate the herd. He does his job just as well as the dogs and the dogs have accepted him. Maybe in the summer I'll get to go and see Alex in action. Alex is actually very friendly. He just wants a few scratches behind the ears and s…

  12. Rev. Susan Russell, 06/29/2012 7:54 pm "And one of those was my wife. Now, I have a hard-and-fast rule to never blog about my wife, but this blog is going to be the exception that proves the rule. A long-time activist, journalist, documentarian, and media consultant, Louise was convinced that gay, lesbian, and bisexual equality was a hard enough row to hoe without adding the "T" into the mix. "Let's fight one battle at a time" pretty much summed up her position -- that is, until the 2009 General Convention and the powerful witness of the transgender folk who so courageously shared their stories, their experience, their journeys, and their reality with her. She left Anahe…

  15. Ellsworth Rundlett III, Posted: 12/20/2012 1:01 am Eight years ago, my daughter Nicole introduced a new twist to our motley tribe. She was Nick at the time, the best son a man could ask for, but -- unbeknownst to the rest of the family -- she had always identified as a woman. When Nicole decided to become her authentic self, I was startled and unsure -- but time, education and counseling have made our parent/child relationship stronger than ever. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for our extended family. --huffingtonpost.com The Cold Shoulder at Christmas: Family Holidays With a Transgender Daughter

I was listening to NPR "All Things Considered" today. They are doing a series of broadcasts on transgender children. Todays' spot was about those who insist they are the other gender from an early age. Tomorrow is about transgender teens. The information provided is not nearly as in depth as most here would already know but is still interesting. They might also have the broadcasts available to download off the net. Kate D.

  21. Sunday morning finally came although it was about 4 am on Saturday that all the fun we were having finally ended. Breakfast on Sunday gave me a chance to meet another great of girls like us. I met a few girls that have had parts in movies and live plays. Most of these wonderful people were much older than me, but, all were beautiful. That afternoon the event I was waiting for was finally stating, a dress and shoe fashion show. I was going bonkers over all of the shoes that were being shown. I was in 7th heaven as I am a serious heels girl. I finally found a very sexy sandal without an ankle strap. I do not like the way I look in a dress with ankle strap sandals. They make…

Ok, she's not a biological relative, but she's the friend I've talked about that has gone past friend and is now family. She has Lupus Nephritis, which is doing severe damage to her kidneys. In the event she needs a transplant I'm getting tested in the hopes that I'm a match so I can give her one of mine. What I'm asking from everyone here is to send good thoughts her way, and if you believe in a deity to please keep her in your prayers. All good thoughts and prayers can't hurt anything, and could possibly help. I'm not asking for anything more than that. Her name is Mary. Also to the staff, I couldn't figure out where this post belonged, so I just went w…

  24. Started by Alex,

I find this ridiculous, I sent out for my income tax at the end of January and I still have not recieved it. I called them up 3 times and went down there twice. I show them my documents that i have had my name legally changed since November of last year, and I even sent them with my income tax refund. Everytime I call them, they blame the Social Security Office, which i went to go see, and they gave me a statement saying my name was current on their records. I'm finding this really frustrating. Is anyone else having issues with the IRS after you've had a legal name change?
