A researcher from the University of Kansas is seeking participants for a study on transgender individuals' use of online message boards for social support. If you are transgender and have ever used this message board, I would greatly appreciate your participation in an online survey. Completing the survey should take approximately 20 minutes (all you need to do is click on the survey link): https://qtrial.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6AwohFqChi3Gf76 Responses will be anonymous. Academic research about social support for transgender individuals, particularly online, is difficult to find. 13. Those who might be in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sunday May 19th, 2013 there will be the second annual Transgender Day of Celebration picnic at Minnehaha Falls Park. From 4 pm to 10 PM. Two years ago at the Transgender Day of Remembrance services in Minneapolis, MN, they opened the floor for announcements and discussion after the remembrance service was completed. Someone suggested a summer event as TDoR is celebrated 20 November when it usually cold and possibly snow or icy in Minneapolis, MN. (If I recall the temperature was 10F and there was ice on the sidewalks leading to the church entry. I braved the elements and wore a tweed skirt with a satin liner, nylons, two …

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on November 28th, 1998 kicked off the “Remembering Our Dead” web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Rita Hester’s murder — like most anti-transgender murder cases — has yet to be solved. Transgender Day of Remembrance 2011 Events List

  19. by Miya Yamanouchi Take it step-by-step: One trans woman's advice on transitioningI met 67-year-old Khristie Leigh Kennison when I was staying at a rural bed and breakfast in the country with my boyfriend. She was also staying there and we got to talking. Khristie then began to speak about being transgender. The next weekend we returned and I asked her if she would be interested in being interviewed for International Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31). She was delighted at the opportunity to finally be able to share her unique and courageous journey as a male-to-female transgender person. Went to St. Pete Saturday and participated in the Trans March, at the beginning of the Pride parade. I simply can't describe what it felt like to have 300,000 people, cheer and roar, with genuine love, acceptance, and validation. If you can get out and be visible, do so with Pride. If you can't, your vote is as important, See photos from St. Pete Pride’s Sunday street festival (msn.com)
