wednesday nite, 9pm eastern on abc. from the preview i saw tonite...it appears that there is a small boy (perhaps 4, 5 yrs old) that likes to "dress up" and daddy don' like it. not sure where it's all gonna go...but it might be worth a watch just to see how jo handles the situation if the boy likes being a little girl. -michael

Video description: Are we on the cusp of discovering what determines gender? The old mantra - all girls have XX chromosomes and all boys have XY - is no longer reliable. Scientists are now looking beyond chromosomes to "brain sex" and the role of newly discovered genes. By studying transsexuals and people on the gender extremes, they believe they can unlock the gender puzzle. This high-quality documentary looks at the new and challenging science of gender.

Cruel and Unusual: Transgender Women in Prison (USA). Documentary by Janet Baus & Dan Hunt. (2006) IMDb: Imagine being a woman in a men's prison. For many individuals, this is a grim reality because the U.S. prison system decides where to place inmates based on their genitalia, not their gender identity. This award-winning documentary makes an unflinching examination of transgender women in men's prisons. PART 1: PART 2: PART 3: PART 4: PART 5: PART 6: PART 7:

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on November 28th, 1998 kicked off the “Remembering Our Dead” web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Rita Hester’s murder — like most anti-transgender murder cases — has yet to be solved. Transgender Day of Remembrance 2011 Events List

My daughter and I are premiering her first play at the Edinburgh Festival in august. It's about a beautiful person we know in Indiana who is transgender. Our actor needs help with creating his feminine persona - make up and walking in heels (just low ones). If anyone in London would be willing to help with the makeover this week/next week then in return, apart from being very grateful, we'd either give you credit in our programme and on our website and give you one of our gorgeous show t-shirts, or if you want we can put an ad for your business into our programme. You can read more about us here. www.LittleFlyTheatre.com thecafeplay@gmail.com ps. anyone…

October 16, 2007 Dear Supporter, Many of you are aware of the extraordinary events last week surrounding the introduction of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. ENDA would ban discrimination based on individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity. In a last minute maneuver, the Democratic leadership moved to strike gender identity provisions from the bill, but had put it on hold after cries of outrage from most of the national LGBT leadership. The argument from both those against and many for the new bill has focused on “transgender inclusion.” And there is no doubt that transgender Americans need such protections and would benefit from them, are s…

Disclaimer: The views expressed are actually pro-GLBT. You have to read it to the end to get the point. Some idiots on facebook retorted without reading the entire thing, thinking it was meant to be some right-wing anti-GLBT propaganda. This is why certain tools should actually read the entire thing before deciding to skip that, and then post about me being some kinda chauvinist bigot of some kind. Here's what I posted on facebook (editing was required to censor explitives here on TGG): I bring this up because I noticed that some friends here [on facebook] are already mentioning attending the event though it isn't gonna happen til April of next year. So, I was going throught the centers site ( an lgbt center on like... west 13th stt in New york) and I found out there was a trans prom in 2008. I don't think there's been one since has there? Well, I wanted to start something called Trans-querade in New Jersey... Good idea? bad idea? It'll be like a masquerade ball almost, I get symbolic though... The masks symbolize the masks that we wore on the outside of our true selves. I'd really like to get this together! Feedback would be great! I e-mailed Jersey shore pflag and the pride center of new jersey, My GSA friends and adviser said it'd be a bright idea for me to try to get some sponsors and if anyone l…

De Familie produces art documentaries and feature films. We are currently working on a historical documentary in which we will produce a historical portrait of a period in which one of the first transgender surgeons, Georges Burou, who performed the first transsexual operations during the ' 50s and 60's in Casablanca. As you know, these were times when getting sex reassignment surgery was very difficult, hardly possible, and most male-to-female transsexuals sought solace with doctor Burou in Casabl…

San Francisco Pride 2011 My partner and I attended the 41st annual San Francisco pride events this past weekend (6/25 and 6/26/11). I've never seen such huge crowds of people in my life! Estimates seem to vary regarding attendance with 500,000 on the low end to over 1,000,000 on the higher end. I would guess the higher end is perhaps more accurate. There are LGBT Pride parties all over the city including a transgender party and parade that was held on 6/24/11. Throughout the weekend, there are breakout parties all over the city, culminating in the Pride Parade on Sunday. Afterward, there is a huge celebration at the Civic Center. Although the crowds are enormous, the e…
