  1. Hiya Ladies... All is well here... though all the events I shared are true, I thought I'd lace it all with a little humour. Some of this, despite the bad, ya just gotta laugh at occasionally. Watching some of the videos of the inventive ways people have employed to get thru lock-downs and shortages sort of inspired me to toss my adventures out there. I will say, however, I'm quite glad I checked out Walmart's grocery pick-up before all hell broke loose. I believe grocery pick-up and delivery helps greatly in avoiding crowds and thereby avoiding the virus. I've not been to Walmart yet since they've implemented policies on restricting numbers of customers, etc. And though there are a number of stores very close by and all have grocery delivery, I've not bothered with their services since I already had an online account with Wally World long before this all happened. As for the disinfecting wipes... I use them now primarily for when we do have to go out. For example, when I go to get gas, I like to use a wipe on the keypad at the pump, wipe the pump handle, wipe off my debit card and door handle to my truck. After I acquired the bleach, that's what I use to wipe down things in the house. Glad to hear that all of you have found ways to deal with this pre-vaccination life we've found ourselves in. Except for not being able to go out to eat occasionally... I think my Mum and I are doing okay. Stay safe, all of ya's. 😊

  2. Dear Mike, Emma and Dee, Mike, I live alone, making it easier, as well as I was always in the habit of stocking up and topping off every week. Learned that Scott's toilet paper is superior than Charmin Extra Strong Mega Rolls (virgin forest growth) in that it is not only cheaper (recycled paper), but that a roll of Scott's lasts 5 - 7 days per person, while a roll of Charmin last 2 - 3 days. Mike, have you considered food pantry? Presently, I have deliveries of fruit and vegetables on Wednesdays (because I don't drive). Emma, I have learned that experts think either that COVID-19 will come in waves, and the next wave will be in the Fall, much worse in the first wave that we are in now, or that it will be in diminishing 50% waves over the next 2 years. This all depends on how people cooperate with lockdowns, wearing masks, maintaining a 6' social distance, etc. Dee, in certain places, I notice people don't respect the 6 ' rule, but I try to avoid those places. Also, I try to shop in the early morning to avoid the crowds. Have discovered my local Aldi's supermarket have stepped up in having a dedicated employee scrubbing the shopping carts, giving them one at a time to a customer, and managing the line in front of the store to keep it moving. In the past, I used to buy $20.00 of items per visit, this last time, I have bought $110.00 of items, everything on my list. They are worth a second look, even though in the past they had limited choices. ShopRite has always been a good choice, too. Walmart and ShopRite are allowing customers to order groceries one week in advance. Instead of choosing a slot and then putting together your list, put together your list first, then choose a slot, as they only allow you an hour to put together a list. Check for slots hourly all day long, so that when one opens up, you can input your list, and secure your slot. Of course, I am living in upstate New York. By the Grace of God, I have 2 girlfriends who drive who take me shopping on a regular basis, as I don't drive. How I cope is that I stay in touch with my friends, including those at TGGuide, and I try to focus on the positive changes in our culture and society as a result of COVID-19. Also, I am taking this time to explore my creativity in my art, taking classes, webinars and exploring YouTube. We will get through this together! Your friend, Monica

  3. I'm glad I live somewhere rural, after the first week or so when all the tins and milk disappeared folks just went back to buying normally, plus we always have a weeks worth of food in the freezer/tin cupboard just out of habit. I try and shop on the quiet days just because others do not always respect the 2m rule and walk right up next to me. As long as you stay as safe as you can, hopefully with the heat the virus won't cope so well. Regular thorough hand washing will be more effective than the sanitiser anyway.

  4. First, I can't imagine living in AZ. I visited Scottsdale in mid-Summer 2018: the temp was 108. Literally unbearable. Second, yeah, this whole thing is right out of a sci-fi movie or Stephen King book. As you said, you're retired (as am I), thank goodness. "But I didn't give up trying." That's all we can do my friend. We have to stick it out for the long haul. I'm afraid this mess is going to be with us for a long time, possibly through 2022 if not beyond.
