So, I started T in october (which is super fantastic, I also realized I haven't been online in a while, and I've been getting messages about the phone conference thing which i constantly mean to call in but never get the chance to) Anyway, I apparently gained 30 pounds and on top of gaining that weight, I have a huge fear of seeing doctors, so I haven't had a Primary Care Physician since I was 18 (mostly because of the fear of my legal name, doctor commentary on my life as far on T and transitioning.) so I went 3 months with an ear infection, which the doctor at the mazzoni center (who prescribes me my T) prescribed me Amoxycillin for. But he urged me to find a PCP and…

I grew up in the 60s and 70s when a polite society didn't talk about transgender topics. I learned the hard way that you just didn't even mention such things in my family. I got past all that and began exploring my gender identity in the 80s and fully transitioned in the early 90s. It still wasn't a very accommodating society but I was lucky enough to be able to live in stealth mode. Transgender people who came before us had a very difficult path for sure. But I have noticed over the past 30 years that society is ever-so-slowly evolving regarding understanding and acceptance of transgender people. Every now and then I see a development and I think, perhaps naively, that …

  5. A few days ago, during conversation, I commented that it would be nice if my mum would accept that I am TS. I don't expect her to understand, just accept. Then I went on to say that no one can understand what it feels like to be TS - not unless the individual is him-/herself TS, or has deep issues or concerns about his/her gender, or is IS and discovering that whatever sex/gender doctors decided the child should be...turns out to be wrong. My conversational opponent got a bit jacked-up and said that I cannot say what people understand, and that I could not say what he understands - that it was insulting to him for me to say he could not understand. I insisted that he c…

Have any of you ever have any doubt or question being transgender and if so what made you come to terms with the fact that you are trans? Sorry if this is a dumb topic.

I am going to say less and listen more on this one I am posting. I am becoming more comfortable in public situations, especially with friends, but 3 times in the last month I have had car trouble, twice where I was towed off the road, and a few times needing to deal with auto repair shops. Each time I was not completely feminine as I did not have make-up and was dressed conservatively. I am starting to really fear those unknown times when I may find myself face to face with people that will probobly recognize me as a man and discriminate me in an unknown matter even to myself. Some situations you just cannot walk away from. Until I am more confident I really fear th…

Hello, I've been reading on the net about Dr Bushong's 'Gender Matrix". As usual, tried to figure out how I might fit into the classification. For those not familiar with this -- I would think most everyone here is -- he uses a five axis system to show how complex gender identity can be. The five axis are: 1. Genetic Gender 2. Physical Gender 3. Brain Gender 4. Brain Sex 5. Gender Identity In the article, he uses simply "M" or "F" in his examples. Since these are a continuous spectrum, maybe it's better to use something like M - m - N - f - F to represent from strongly male to weakly male to neutral to weakly female to strongly female. So, according to …

Dr. Sandra Samons has a listing on the American Association of Sexuality Education Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) here. and a website here. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with her or had ever heard of her before. I've sent her an email asking about some things I'd like to know before making an appointment but it'd be nice to have an opinion not slightly biased by my impatience before I make any definite plans.

Does anyone have experience with having a little relief from transgender feelings by dressing another woman, Girlfriend, Spouse, Daughter. I originally thought that I might be cured when I got married because I could shop with my wife and enjoy seeing great looking clothes on her. Unfortunately my idea didn't last long because as soon as I had a chance I wanted to borrow my wifes clothes. This was a big problem because at the time she had lost a lot of weight and it was almost impossible to fit into her size. I also noticed how much prettier the smaller shoes were. So for a time a felt better about myself because I was reaching out to my wife, but then I felt like…

I've hit a dry spell in my life. It happens periodically and sometimes it may be needed. Don't know where to go at present so I'll stay where I am until things change. It's a good time to assess where I am in my journey.

I was wondering how many others feel that their earliest years had a lot to do with being TG? I was the second child born in our family, and the second son. I know that my parents were hoping for a little girl. Well, I was pretty close: Had the Gerber baby platinum blonde hair look and all, and I think they may have treated me differently (gentler) than my older brother. I was definitely pampered those first few years and my Dad's nickname for me was Babs. When I was four, my sister was born and all that spoiling I got abruptly stopped. However, I never felt that I was anything other than the first-born daughter. Until I was renamed "Annie" by my many friends in cha…

I am early in my transition and have a question about growing my hair out. It is getting to the point where it is not long enough to do anything with but long enough to look scruffy. Is there something I can use on it to keep it less messy while it grows out.

Thank those who had some helpful tips on my hair. Of course this is a very minor detail in respect to everything else going on. A big thing for me was finding the right therapist. The third time was the charm for me. I learned how little most of them really know about transgender issues. I had been in therapy for depression for a year until I finally came out to my therapist. He was a nice enough man but he could not help to deal with this at all. I started to have some very deep depressive times. I also have a psychiatrist that did my medications for me. I went back to him, thinking I needed some different meds. He, very wisely said that I did not need different me…

This article has also been posted elsewhere The world continues to disappoint, the continued downward and backward spiral to the middle ages with religious zealots and xenophobes moving the world towards the right. In the US the transformation into the Republic of Gilead moves on apace. The supreme courts overturn of Roe V Wade was the first step, Republican States are now withholding a woman's right to choose. How long before the red capes and 'commanders' appear? The US is unfortunately heading towards a second civil war, unfortunately though this time it won't be North against South it will be Red v Blue. The Republicans under Trump, played on the…

Hi Girls! This is my first time on this site. I've been wanting to share something with the transgender community that I have developed to address a restroom issue. In Minnesota, I'am allowed to use the restroom of the gender I present as. The problem is when doing so it takes some time and struggle to get ready to relieve myself. (urinary) Then all has to be put back into place, sometimes with long fingernails breaking off or parts getting pinched and scratched. I came up with a device that uses an external adhesive male catheter, a tight fitting pair of panties, (gaff) and a plastic tubing connector incorporated into a styrene plate. The plate is sewn into the crotch …

TRIGGER WARNING: DISCUSSION OF EATING DISORDERS Hi! Lately I’ve been doing a lot of pro-ana searches. I haven’t been able to find much support for eating disorders and transgender people. This is the first time I think I may be aware of it before it really becomes a problem, before I may need hospitalization and treatment. Sometimes when I don’t eat it takes an intervention before I acknowledge that I am becoming ana again. Have I been eating or not eating? I think I’ve been eating but there have been lots of remarks from people who care about me about how thin I’m getting and sometimes they ask me if I eat at all. Am I fat or thin? I don’t know anymore. If there ar…

  23. Matthew Breen | July 18 2014 "Nevertheless, two words have been conflated with trans identities, and those words have hijacked much of the discourse. The vitriolic conversations over the use of the words tranny and she-male—who can claim ownership over them and who should heed their power to injure as slurs, who is in-group and who is an outsider—have been caustic and divisive." --advicate.com Editor's Letter: Excising That Word

  24. Please excuse me if this is not the correct board, but I am not sure where it would fit. Hi there, My name is Tansy Bradshaw, I am a late-20s Australian writer who would love some assistance from you and the wider trans community. I am writing a book based on the life of Edward DeLacy Evans a trans man who lived in Australia between 1856 and 1901. During this time he was married to 3 women before he had a 'mental breakdown' and was revealed at Kew Asylum. I am writing the story as so the reader thinks it's a man until the incident at Kew Asylum. However, I know that I am ignorant when it comes to how a trans person feels, and as I want to write as authentically as I c…

I was physically and/or sexually attracted to very few females during my teens, twenties and thirties. Since I considered myself a male to female transsexual at about age 40, especially in my 50's, I have been physically and sexually attracted to far more females than when i was younger. However, the strongest effect of seeing an attractive genetic female is not a desire to have sex with her, but a very intense desire and wish I could be as pretty, feminine and sexy as her. When I see a woman with a very nice, feminine figure, especially with large female breasts and a noticeable female rear, I very strongly wish I had such a lovely female figure, especially with …
