Hi All, I hope it is not seen as inappropriate me posting on here (with other networks/groups I had asked the Admin for guidance on where to post, but this is such a huge board that I wasn’t sure which Admin/Moderators to contact!) So I don’t mean to cause any offence by hijacking the forum, and I hope that some of you will be keen to help. I am currently undertaking post graduate studies in Psychology and have chosen to carry out a research project on transgender issues. I chose this because I am part of the LGBT community myself and feel we are quite under represented as a whole in research, but transgender individuals even more so. Also much of the research …

This isn't directed to anyone here. Please do not think I am singling out anyone because I am not. I am merely saying what I am feeling as a way to inspire and have others to inspire as well. So please take this as me expressing my thoughts and feeling. Thanks and hugs. Dear Trans-Community, As I write this, it pains me to witness the many in fighting and backstabbing within our community. So many of us in the community are tired of it, yet it never will stop. I am making a plea for those out there to stop the hate within our community. Many of us are less fortunate, who can't afford to make the changes or are financially stable due to either being on government check …

I'm asked more and more often now "What group do you represent." with a stern look of consternation in many cases. I work WITH a couple groups now. The Livingston County Rainbow Alliance and Stronger Together of Western New York. Who do I represent? I represent Erica Elizabeth Ravenwood unless I otherwise say so, as in, "I'm looking for something the Rainbow Alliance can borrow." Or something of that nature. I do not represent, or fully support, the LGBT at this point in time. The reason being is we differ on just a couple but very important key points regarding the transgender subject and how to move forward with it. The things I support I support fully. The things I do …

Hi girls, I’m wondering what’s the difference if one was just to take estrogen vs if they just took t-blockers vs taking both? since I’m going to Japan it seems the doctors there are wary of T-blockers because of some side-effects that may happen. But should I push for it? Of course I’ll get my blood checked first, but I really really don’t want to become more masculine. The doctor claimed the estrogen would block testosterone anyway. Usually when you take estrogen do they give you progesterone too? If so I forgot what progesterone does(dang it memories of sophmore year of high school has failed me). If I were to only take estrogen with no t-blockers…

I wrote about a year and a half ago about having painful cramps in my leg one night, wondering afterward if taking estrogen or spironolactone may have caused the cramps. I contacted the physician who has and is prescribing female hormones, spironlactone and finasteride for me to ask him if taking any of them could cause leg cramps. He said probably not and suggested I take a magnesium supplement, which I have been, later discovering magnesium supplements are worthwhile for several reasons in helping to promote proper health. Later I realized I had had the painful leg cramps only about a day after returning home on a long plane ride. I know people need to be careful on …

Hi everyone, I just needed to kinda vent for a little bit and hope for some encouragement and stuff. Tomorrow, 3-23, I'm going to my first therapist session to move along and begin to fully transition to become a woman. I was lucky enough to find a therapist who works with people who are on a budget and specializes in people with GID. There are a million emotions that are going through my head right now and I can't wait to see how it'll go. I'm excited to really start my way to eventual SRS but nervous about opening up to a complete stranger. I'm worried about what my extended family will think and friends and everyone really. Also I'm a little angry with myself tha…

Do any of you workout? What are your work out routines like? Also, is there a way to work out to make your muscles smaller (I know, dumb question, but I had to ask)? The reason why I asked is because I have a muscled/athletic build. I'm 6ft, 160 lbs. Thanks for your time everyone.

Expanding Black Masculinity to End 'Black on Black' Anti-LGBT Violence Huffington Post (blog) At the beginning of February, Deoni Jones, a 23-year-old African-American transgender woman, was stabbed to death at a Washington, DC bus stop -- the suspect, a 55-year-old black man. Later that month in Atlanta, 20-year-old Brandon White was viciously...

Dear Friends, Am going on a fact-finding trip to Seattle, WA, on Friday, September 13th to Friday, September 20th. Thinking of moving there in the future. Would really appreciate what anyone has to say about Medicaid, and public housing as well as general information, such as public transit. Is anyone familiar with Seattle, especially how T/LGB - friendly it is? Will be staying in a hotel near SEATAC Airport. Please drop me a PM. Thank you very much. Yours truly, Monica

Forgive me if you have already talked about this. I was watching 60 minutes last week, and it was about what they called "extreme gender nonconformity". It was the story of identical twin boys, one of which was obviously not interested in traditional male things, such as boy toys, sports, etc. It was to the extreme. One of the boys had a typical 'boy' room, and the other twin had pink walls, dolls, stuffed animals and the mother was fine with this. they mentioned a statistic that when this occurs, from birth, it is almost without exception that the one who is displaying the extreme nonconformance will be gay. Now the story was really about the fact that identical tw…

In one of the groups I'm in on Facebook the following poll went up. Gender poll FTM - 145MTF - 88Non Gender - 51Gender Fluid - 43A Gender - 27I was surprised (kind of) that there are so many FTM and surprised there were not more MTF and Non-Gender. What was cool is the average age of members is 20 and will be interesting to see if there is indeed a rise in FTM.

I recently received a survey from Facebook on behalf of a third party company. Checked the company out and they are indeed a valid survey company. The survey, the way I saw it was genuinely concerned about the LGBT community and if you are on FB would urge you to take the survey. The survey comes from an email so look for it in your inbox.

I am wondering how much feminization in your face occurred for transsexuals, especially those in their forties to fifties, using estrogen, without factoring in the use of feminine make-up. Was the feminization, if any, noticeable to you and others? I have not noticed any facial feminization purely from using hormones. Perhaps by belated start, at fifty-seven before beginning use of hormones, largely explains this.

I never really thought about this at all. ...Duh!! ...Posers! who masquerade as transfolks < I hate predators> Information: Back by popular demand: internet fakes This is part of my larger look at the issue of trans wannabes on the internet and issues of internet safety for young people. The problem of fakes continues unabated, with recent examples coming from the so-called "transkids.us" movement, fake "transkid" author JT LeRoy, and the fake "transkid" featured at boy2woman.com. Most of these sites are by kooks and wannabes, but a few are run by scam artists looking to make money by pretending to be transwomen. Lest anyone think this is a phenomenon limit…

I been thinkin about this for a long time. Whether I should put it up there and get advice or not. Being that i'm not very trusting to really open up to people, I had to think hard. I decided to give it a try. You see. okay, lets start of with how much I do love my parents, grandparents, and so on. Anyway, I found out at an early age that they're not too good with change. Then when I realized I was transgendered, I debaited on telling anyone of them. Later I casually went to my mom and told her that I needed to see a therapist. When she asked why, I told her because I have issues I nee to sort out and deal with. She said you tryin to tell me you like women? I said …
