Here's an article I read today about the relevance of Pride weeks. There is a recognition that gays and lesbians are becoming more and more acceptable in society particularly by the younger generation and that the focus needs to shift towards the transgenders and transexuals. http://lifewise.canoe.ca/Beauty/AskIvana/2...22/4282306.html Bonnie

How Gay-Friendly is Hong Kong? It Depends. Wall Street Journal (blog) Hong Kong's LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community may have received a boost from local pop star Anthony Wong's very public coming-out last month, and there may have been visible improvements in public attitude in recent years...

Hi All First off, I hope I do not upset anyone with this post. Please note that I recognise the possibility of the content being upsetting to some but at the same time I am trying to better understand some issues that affect our community. I am writing this in a genuine attempt to deepen understanding and 'ventilate' issues we may face. I therefore apologise in advance and hope that you read this in the spirit and tone that it is intended. I am writing an article for Frock magazine (frockmagazine.com) on the connotations of the word 'tranny'. If you do not mind assisting in this survey, could you please reply to this thread by answering the following questions: 1.…

He referred me to the psychiatry department of Kaiser Permanente and apparently they have this thing were they schedule on the same day as you go in for evaluation, so I'm going next Friday.Does anybody have any experience with Kaiser and how they deal with transgender people.

This past Sunday my wife and I went to visit a friend who was in the hospital. As we walked to the security desk I saw that we needed to show our IDs. I don't have a picture of me as Gennee. I wondered how this would turn out? I presented my ID with my male picture. The guard looked at me for a moment, sowewhat startled. He gave us passes and let's us proceed. We had to sign again when we reached my friend's ward. The lady who signed me in didn't take a moment's notice. She just let me pass. Quite a day. Gennee is making her presence felt. My friend is doing much better.

My ex wife and I starting to talk again.I saw a look on her face when I picked our 13 year old daughter Nicole up on Friday.Have joint custody and get her on weekends.Walked in and decided to apologize to me for how she reacted badly at first,I forgave her.Said she was not ready to cope with the next step I was going to go through and is now.Sees I am more much happier now.Plus she felt terrible for what she did to me and has decided to support me finally.Coming to terms was hard for her at first and she understands finally. We have one person to thank, our 13 year old daughter saying don't hold a grudge against each other. It is looking better now and my ex wife is starting…

So⦠I did the whole ācoming outā part with my boyfriend and parents. It went as smoothly as can be expected when you have a father who is all about being an analyst, a regular (albeit loud) mother, and a boyfriend who is too kind for his own good. Which means, while no one completely freaked out, I almost wished they did. Naturally, the problem is that they canāt bring themselves to understand my situation, which is understandable because of several things about me. For one, while Iām not particularly girly, Iām not very masculine in the way I act. Part of this is because Iām freakishly shy about who I am, so Iām mellow in almost everything I do. -Donāt want to be foun…

It's been six years since I came out as transgender. I remember during this time six years ago that I just discovered that I was a crossdresser. I was shocked to say the least. I went into denial reasoning that it was just a phase. How wrong I was! for several weeks I was tense, irritable, and miserable. On July 26, 2005 I came out to myself as a crossdresser. All the tension and stress dissipated immediately. I felt a sense of calm, relief, and liberation. It was a short time later that I felt that my experience ran deeper than just the clothes I was wearing. When I read about transgender, it connected with me. Now I knew that I was transgender and a crossdresser. …

Last night I went to a PROM!! Never did that in high school. The LGBTQI ministry at church sponsored it. There were people of all ages and genders dancing and I wore log and having a great time. My spouse and I wore long dresses which draw many compliments. Haven't danced that much in years-and in my heels!! I'll post from pictures when I get them. :D

This seems to be percolating through news feeds lately. Itās dated 10/3/17 and the comments suggest something about tech times target audience. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/213993/20171003/sex-change-regret-growing-number-of-transgenders-wants-gender-reversal-surgery.htm And here is an older article updated in 2016 counters the impression the tech times article suggests. It is less inflammatory, as well as better researched and considered. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/brynn-tannehill/myths-about-transition-regrets_b_6160626.html Iām offering these as a heads up to expect some discussion on the subject. And I think anyone who's tripped over the first article sho…

I have been happy ever since I came out as bigender 5 years ago.For a long time,I struggled to find who I was and thought I was a crossdresser at first.Crossdressed and knew I was not this.In 2012,I started my research and knew I was happy as male still. It was finally in 2013,I finally found it and it was when looking up bigender.I knew it was this, male with a female counterpart having the urges to dress as the female counterpart. It was finally in March of 2013 I came out to my family including my wife Heather. It was at my parent's place and I told my parents I needed to come out about something and they said Ok.My mom knew I always was struggling in my life about somethi…

Hello everyone, My name is Matthew (despite the Jennifer name, which is just what my female name would be, if I were a girl) and I am 18 years old. I apologize for the length of what this post will likely be, but I stumbled across your website tonight and after reading all of your indepth knowledge and experiences, I felt the need to join. I don't know... maybe it's in ways a cry for help over what have become such conflict feelings inside me, or maybe just to talk to someone who can relate. I know you probably hear get these questions all the time, so I apologize. Anyways... Since I was six years old, I have had the urge to dress up as a woman (bet you would have N…

While Mike's away and unable to send me to the corner, I figured it'd a good time to get a good speech in. I really don't like the word "transition" and I'm not sure I like what it implies either. Before anyone starts throwing eggs/tomatoes/your food substance of choice... This all goes back to Kate Bornstein's Gender Outlaw book for me. It made me realize that I was still laboring under this strange social system called "gender". "Gender" is nearly as strange as one of the old feudal caste systems. In those systems, one was either born noble or not; nobility were one thing, and commoners were another, and that was that. It's strange to us now, but it was as simpl…

Hi Everyone~ I have been seeing my trans therapist for about 2 months now, and she has recommended me for the transgender program here at the University of Michigan! Basically, she had to meet with me a few times, decide if I would be a good candidate then either a) present my case to the committee, and they would accept me (or not) or say she thought I'd need further assessing for consideration by one of the MD therapists on staff. Thankfully, she presented and the team is excited about having me as part of the program! Excitement number 2 is I have made an appointment for my well-care checkup, to see if I'm in shape to start T. Or if not, then what do I need to …

I hope i don't annoy anyone by posting all the great things that are coming into my life with my parents. I share them in hopes that it might help others that are on the fence as to hanging onto a relationship, or, letting go. And by all means, if someone is harming you, let them go. In talking to my Mom this morning, she told me, "I feel so blessed to have you in my life." That is something i have been waiting a lifetime to hear. And I am a little overwhelmed. This from a woman that for 9 years, refused to really see me. And for myself, I am so thankful that God gave me the strength to wait her out. Again I do acknowledge that it is a very individual decision..…

Just had to get this off my chest. Even though I get along with all my family, today has been a somewhat bitter sweet day. You see, today is my birthday, and I heard nothing from my family. At the same time it has been a sweet day. Just got a phone call from a very dear friend, and telling me she loves me, and thanked me for being in her life. I also got a surprise e-mail from my life coach saying happy birthday. How she knew it was my birthday is beyond me, but it felt good. So, trying to hang on to the positive and let go of the hurt of not hearing from my family. I am finding that blood is not thicker than water. Having a few good friends is much more.

I was thinking about past experiences last night and one popped into my head that made me start laughing all over again. Before I was in the wheelchair, and still able to walk, I was out for a drive one day. I ended up needing gas and pulled into a gas station to fill up. On the other side of the pump were a couple guys doing the same. We made eye contact for about a tenth of a second and went back to what we were doing. Now bear in mind I was in booty shorts and a spaghetti strap top. It may have looked a bit trashy, but it was hot so I didn't care. Anyway, it's obvious that I'm a transgender woman. I can hear their conversation from across the pump as we're only about 6…
