i've heard about people cutting, but never "knew" anyone that cut until i started chatting with other TG/TS people, and "met" up with a transboy. before i stopped going to where we used to chat...i discovered there were about three young guys -all teens ranging in age from about 14 to 17- who admitted to cutting. but my little buddy was by far the worst. seems he actually set out to draw blood. it's my understanding that self-mutilation (not for purposes of body modification) is primarily a mechanism for coping with something else. allegedly, the pain keeps one's mind off the real problem. it got me to wondering if i fall in that category. i don't cut... never …

  5. Hey, So today at 11:30 My club is doing a discussion on trans issues since for some reason, I don't know how to start the discussion at all. It's freaking me out completely because I'm the one who put this on our agenda. They're really trying to brush it off, the discussion i mean, but how do i make them more engaged in this, since the T is rarely ever discussed in our group. -Ty

I told my dad last night that i am transgender and asexual. He seemed okay with it at first, but then earlier today he indicated that he thought i wasn't really either of those. He seemed to think that some of my friends in my LGBT group somehow persuaded me that i was transgender and asexual rather than realizing it on my own. At first i thought he was accepting of me but now i am not so sure. What do you think? Do you think maybe he is just trying to cope with it? Do you think maybe he is trying to make sure this is who i really am? I am not sure what to think and i need to know how he feels about me.

  7. The National Center for Transgender Equality has released results from an extensive 2015 survey about transgender life in the United States. This report presents the findings of the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey (USTS), a study conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE). With 27,715 respondents, it is the largestever survey examining the lives of transgender people in the United States. The USTS provides a detailed portrait of the experiences of transgender people across many areas, including health, family life, employment, and interactions with the criminal justice system. Have many of you here went to therapy before deciding to change your entire life. I want to find some support groups in NYC before thinking of engaging in an all out transition (as far as wearings fishnets, makeup). I know I have feminine tendencies, but I don't know if I am the type to be a transsexual (it could be a strong possibility). I want to be examined because while I don't want to make any life altering decision that I am unsure of, I also don't want to be a miserable 50 year old man because I lived the wrong life. I love my long hair and want it to be even longer. I love painting my nails and wearing chokers. lol. I am going to call some places and get som…

Well.. I haven't been a fully active member here for a long while. Mostly because I reached a stage in my transition where I could be myself, so it was nice and I became comfortable and I didn't think about my problem so readily as to come here and share my thoughts. Of course, from time to time, however, I did drop in and say hello to you all. Post my thoughts on current topics and so on. However, my comfort has began, to in a way deteriorate. I suppose it is that same vicious cycle I talked of in an earlier reply of mine. The more I experienced, the more I wanted more. What I said was that, when I tried to be a girl as a boy. I found contentment in roleplay online. T…

Jus as the title sez, it's Prom season for R O S M Y , ( Richmond Organization of Sexual Minority Youth ) in Richmond Virginia . This has become , "My Prom" . See, in 1968 when In was about to graduate High school, I couldn't even have come close to attending my own prom . I knew I was Transgender then and earlier . In 2009, I was allowed to go to that Prom as a Chaperone . It was sooooooooooooo gratifying to be there in a Thrift store evening dress and getting my picture taken by a "REAL " photographer . This year , as in years past , I again get to be with "My kids " . Yes, those full of energy youths who identify a little differently than mainstream society . They are…

Ok, now this post may not be worded exactly correctly but my question is, I was at work today and Donna Lewis' I love you always forever came on the radio. Now, way back in the day, like middle school/early high school, anytime this song came on, I would immediately be consumed by this somber mood. Nothing depression-esque or even sad really, almost like when you see that moment in a movie where someone dies and that person is like thinking of them and its a bittersweet moment of rememberance. Well, this song would come on, usually at the god-awfully early hour of 715am (back then it was horrid, now 6am wakeups are usual due to being 'grown up'.) but anyways the song w…

I've been looking around the forum for the last few days, and I've decided to join up! I'm in my late teens, and I guess my story is similar to a lot of others: I remember I was four years old when I told a woman at daycare that I was a girl, I got along well with other girls in my childhood and was basically happy until (drum roll please!) I hit puberty. On the upside I could open pickle jars really easily but the rest of it - the unwanted physical changes, being one of the "weird" kids, thinking I was gay because I didn't date anyone - all that I would have gladly avoided, I have a male body but have always felt like a girl, so I guess that's why I'm here. I don…

Hullo all I'm still very new to these forums so if this is the wrong place to be posting this topic please let me know! I've been living my prefered gender for almost 2 years now. To be honest, when I started I thought I was never going to find anyone who would accept me for me as a partner, especially after my girlfriend at the time walked out on me a few weeks after I came out to her. It was about a year after coming out that I met the person who would become my first boyfriend. Well... That's a term I should use loosely because this person was otherwise identifying. Xe and I were together for about 7 months. I was really happy to have someone who knew and acc…

Some words seem to become difficult in a TG situation. I'm curious what substitution words people have developed to get around this. Good example: "wife". See, I started out saying "SO" partially because I didn't feel like exposing that detail at the time, but partially because it's an awkward sort of word to use. I somehow can't see a lesbian couple calling each other "wife" or even "husband" if one was really butch, unless they were doing it as a joke. I don't know, maybe they would? I guess if a lesbian couple did somehow manage to get married in the current political climate (Massachusetts and Canada excepted ) they'd probably be pretty proud of it. But what do …

Several months ago, I was asked to be a gues speaker to a primarily Gay group that lives at a Senior citizen facility. I accepted the invitation without question . First, I see these people in several situations outside of the center all the time . second , I want to help bridge shall we say, some of the "Fear " some gays have of us . I'm also tired of the portrayal some of the media has of us too. It was decided to have a Panel dicussion and to have a question and answer session on being Transgnder . Also , I'm to find out what prospective Tennants might wish to have avalible to them in a semi assisted living enviorment . This is a sincere question being asked by t…

Well more like shouting at them that what ever they do nothing will change , they are still a man ( woman ) and no amount of surgery or hormones will change this . Or that your not worthy to transition and you dont desirve to do so .. Why not , why dont I desirve , or why wont I pass , or do I truelly matter at all , whats been eating at your mind . Driving that voice inside to make you doubt or hesitate or question who it is you are . I will share later I just want to get the ball rolling. Hugs Stephani

I grew up in the 60s and 70s when a polite society didn't talk about transgender topics. I learned the hard way that you just didn't even mention such things in my family. I got past all that and began exploring my gender identity in the 80s and fully transitioned in the early 90s. It still wasn't a very accommodating society but I was lucky enough to be able to live in stealth mode. Transgender people who came before us had a very difficult path for sure. But I have noticed over the past 30 years that society is ever-so-slowly evolving regarding understanding and acceptance of transgender people. Every now and then I see a development and I think, perhaps naively, that …

Hi. I am new to the board and just wanted to say Hello. I am TG and don't see anyway to transition or "come out" with out hurting others. I am married and have two precious girls I couldn't bare to see hurt. I think one reason I got married was I thought it would "cure me". Ha. Before I got married I was under going electrolysis and working on my figure. I feel myself going back in time trying the same things "without electrolysis". DOES IT EVER END? I just wish I could atleast dress and lay back fem for one whole day. Seems impossible these days.

  24. Brad Glemser | June 18 2013 4:19 AM ET "I was flying through Miami, and after I went through a body scanner, the TSA officer wanted to pat down my chest. While doing so he felt my chest binder, which I wore every day and which the scanner had consistently detected under my clothes and flagged as an "anomaly." I told him it was a back brace. Calling it a "binder" — something used specifically by transgender men — had often prompted extra thorough pat-downs by airport security. Calling it a back brace meant that I didn’t have to disclose my transgender identity to TSA officers and to other travelers standing nearby." --advocate.com Flying While Trans - Commentary …

  25. I have the sexual orientation of a typical guy, the body of a typical guy, and am pretty much content with (or at least not opposed to) having the body of a guy. I have also never experienced any gender dysphoria before. However, I'm currently questioning whether I have the "mind" of a girl. I want to know: is it possible for me to have the "mind" of a girl despite this? Is that a thing? Every time I try to find the answer to this I always get things that don't say anything about this type of transgender, and instead basically assume everyone whose transgender is also looking to change their bodies in some way. There is never any mention of someone who is transgender who …
