I am a successful business man dying to let the woman I am come out. I have known since I was 10 I was a woman trapped in a mans body. I finally have the courage to begin the process, but am affraid to actually let her come out. I know it will cost me my relationships and job. I don't see how I can survive the process. I need to let the woman in me be free and take me to the next level. Anyu words of wisdom from the world?

Early in my transition, confused and feeling alone, I was excited to find that there was a local group called Tri-Ess in my area. I reached out to them for help... and was shot down! Why? Because I identified as bisexual and transsexual. You see, Tri-Ess was, and still is, only for heterosexual male crossdressers and their wives. It was my first taste of the in fighting in the transgender community. It hurt to be excluded from a group where I felt I might be able to finally be myself. Still alone but desperate to find others like me, I turned to the personals that appeared in the local newspaper. I hate to date myself, but there was no Internet back in those days. Fina…

So, I was put in charge (since I suggested) of the transgender day of awareness as my college and I'll be working with Pflag, who will probably be doing most of the presentation, but I want opinions as to what kind of things we should talk about. Being as this is my first semester of being "Out" on campus I don't really know what I should touch on for my club or for the community. Suggestions?

It isn't huge news that former Alabama governor and failed presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is no friend to the LGBT community, but it is curious how he clings to his bigoted ways in the face of widening understanding and acceptance of transgender people. This article titled Huckabee wishes he could've identified as female in high school gym appears on CNN.com. "Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said earlier this year that he wishes he could have Identified as a woman in order to shower with his female classmates after high school gym classes... A CNN reporter asked for his reaction to Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover in which the former Olympic champion, and self…

Coming out is tough, scary, and impacts everyone in our lives. There's no uncertainty about that. But it's part of many of our lives. Here is something I just came across that speaks to me: An important reminder that YOU are important too. Here's what our posters are feeling: 1. I screwed up everyone by coming out. 2. My former partner is feeling hurt/betrayed by my coming out. 3. My children are hurt/angry/permanently damaged by my coming out. 4. Everything is my fault because nothing will ever be the same again and I caused all of these changes. So...here we are. All wound up in our guilt. The world's problems...or so it feels...on our shoulders. …

I sent an email to a former co-worker and said, this has to be our little secret for right now, but this is what I've been up to lately, and then I sent her some pics of me in a dress, skirt, etc. I did not specifically tell her that I was a trans-sexual or that the pics were of me in my girl clothes. She replied back with: How awesome! She is really cute! Is she around here or is she from somewhere else?? I really enjoy our friendship, but I am so happy about your new love - it is wonderful. Does your daughter know yet? I replied back and went, um, Thank you for the compliment, but I have something to tell you. Those are not pics of my girlfriend, …

So..... A lil over 2 weeks ago, I lost my job at the bank. With that goes my health insurance, a paycheck, and the peace of NOT having my father up my behind about getting a job. There are still some prospects in the professional realm Im feeling out, but, this is *actually* the first time I've tried getting a job completely as myself. If anyone saw my youtube, I tried this a lil over a week ago, bugged out, and totally chickened out from applying :-! Sooo....feeling the pressure of knowing that I probably will be waiting for a career job, I decided to hit up the local mall. I was expecting to be terrified, but lordy was I happy when I found I wasn't. Believe i…

I have a few questions for everyone: 1) Is the opposite TG gender an absolute mystery to you? For me, FTMs are as much of a mystery as any other men--more so, actually, because they have taken huge steps to actively reject something that, to me, is a dream come true. I imagine FTMs find MTFs equally mysterious because of this. (I hope no one is offended by what I just said.) 2) Do you think MTFs or FTMs have it easier? Why? 3) Do you feel that you have more in common with non-TG people of your (internal) gender or TG people of the opposite gender?

Well, this Saturday I start undergoing laser hair removal treatments on my private area in preparation for future SRS. Little did I know when I started down this road in 2007 where I would end up. I am proud to say that I couldn't be happier. I should have been born a girl, and I certainly shouldn't have waited this long to fulfill my destiny. However, after 49 years on this planet, I finally started living my life as the gender I should have been born in all along. The last 2 years of my life have been sbsolutely wonderful, and I wouldn't trade it for the world, even though I did become unemployed for a time along the way, and my ex took my daughter away from me.…

So basically, my friend (pre-everything) got outed as wanting to be a girl, but she still has 1¾ years of highschool left. She says the counselors are supportive, but the teachers let the kids bully and harass her to no end. She also says that her family is not likely to be supportive and they regard her siituation as "just a phase." Now, the problem here is I wanna help but I don't know how since I live in Georgia and she lives in Wisconsin. All I can really do is talk to her and try to comfort her over the internet... >_> Any ideas?

The following article (which includes some video of the person undergoing gender confirmation surgery) to me shows how important it is to have a strong support system in place as shown several times in the video of the mother's love for her child. The mother was clueless when she first found out her child was transgender but that all changed and she loved her no different than prior to her child's announcement. I believe a person can go through this surgery without support but with just a single person in their corner raises the success of a happy life ten fold so imagine what the support of an entire family will do then couple that with friends who are supportive. http:/…

I'll bet that most of you have seen the movie "A Soldier's Girl". I just bought the DVD and this is the best love story I have ever seen, bar none. I could not keep from crying to save my life. The ending was so sad. If anyone hasn't seen this movie I highly reccomend it. Note: keep a box of kleenex handy. The next movie that I want to see is "Normal". Have any of you seen it?

I just found out that my current boyfriend of 2 1/2 years was dating a pr-op MTF trassexual befor me. He dated her for seven years and he did not recieve but he did preform oral. I am in no way judgmental towards transsexuals. I am feeling very confused about the possibility that he likes penis, something I will never be able to offer. He says he loves me and is not gay or even bisexual. I don't really understand how that's possible. I came across paperwork that showed his exes gender to be male; that's when I found out - and confronted him. I know that he loved this woman, and sex can be complicated. I just feel that I'm getting to old to stay with a man if he is just in…

There have been many posts about coming out and the effect it haves on the ones around us. Our relationships with friend’s family and loved ones ... I myself have posted about it and have discussed things in response to the posts of others on here. I have sorted through problems and have been understanding and patient with the people in my life. I have answered all questions when asked (accept when they’ve been inappropriate), I’ve put my feelings second and have been patient with all and have not closed any doors (I have watched a few close though). I have grieved the loss of a few close friends and my tears have soaked my pillow and I have felt many dry on my cheeks as …

“When it comes to identities, we in The Community seem to have enough to spare. Part of the problem is the assumptions that everyone makes. I would like to take some time to discuss something directly that I have mentioned in a variety of different stories- that is the difference between being transgender, transsexual and intersexual.” - Bridgette P. LaVictoire Thoughts On Sex, Gender And Transcending In The LGBT Community

I thought it might be nice to share some TG childhood memories. When I was little, like about 6, I remember going to a wishing fountain well... thing, and wishing to be a girl. I also remember my cousin telling me a liked barbie dolls more than her, which was probably true, as whenever I went over to her house I wanted to play barbie... Does anyone else have anything to share?

Hi GirlInside, I have seen by some of your posts that you knew, even at a relatively young age, that you would never be able to transition due to a masculine build. I was wondering, if that wasn't the case, if you just had an average build, do you think that you would transition? Or do you still think you would not maybe due to your voice or anything else that you think may cause a question from the public. And also, it's a pleasure to have you here, your posts are always well written and interesting! -Kim

Hello, My name is Stevie, and I am looking for a doctor in Minnesota to begin the male to female transformation. I was wondering if any of you know a good physician to see for the first time. I would be grateful for any suggestions any of you may have in helping me with this. I didn't even know where to start until I ran across this site. So please help me to become the woman I believe I was born to be. Thank-you Stevie
