I wanted to take some time off and get a focus on where I am at this moment, but I find I don't stop taking the estrogen. Is it just me? Am I obsessive compusive? or is the estrogen a little addictive?

So I am not looking to discriminate against anyone. If anything I want to be a help. The obstacle that I face is not understanding people that question if they are trans or not. Or people, later in life, questioning their gender. I know for myself it is because I am an old fart. And for myself, it is because I have known since I was 4 years old. I do believe there is a generational gap in what it means to be trans today vs. 10 - 20 - years ago. I know I was 43 years old before I even knew that I could transition. That such a thing existed. And I jumped on it. And have no regrets. So, I'm not sure if my not understanding is because trans issues have become more…

it appears that this semblance of acceptance that the younger people talk about existing nowadays...is causing a rift to some degree between young and old - least ways it is for me. it seems that some of the more recent and modern programs on TV with doctors and therapists galore to discuss and explain to the world this thing called transexualism... is making it sound like TS people always exhibit some clear-cut, unquestionable signs of being TS when very young, leaving no question in the minds of parents, family, friends and society that a child is TS. of course some of us older ones know that wasn't the case when we were very young as somehow, we learned very early…

Recently I had my first appointment with an endrocologist in Duluth, which my internal medicine Doc. set up. We discussed many aspects of my transition. Eventually he will send me to the Twin Cities for further tests and maybe my Orchi. He said I should try Climara because of the liver. I took the prescription to my local Walmart and got the shock of my when they told me the cost would be over $400.00 and the generic would be Over $300.00 !!! I didn't take the meds. I also told the Endro Dr. that I can get the meds at a considerable savings by going offshore; he also suggested the Sandrena sachetles. This also a transdermal method. Why the incredible cost for the Climara?

Hi Everyone. Not sure if any of you have heard of peer support or of respite centers. It's an alternative to psych hospitalization. The person that started this is a dear friend of mine. She has been asked to come up with new ideas to deal with the transgender community in different states and has asked for my help. I can tell her about experiences I know of. Would like others input also. the questions being...if you are a trans person, just starting your journey, What kind of support would you need? What could someone say or how could they talk to you that would help? If you are a person that has been transitioning for a while...and still dealing with hardship...what wou…

Hey everyone I haven't been around here recently. I've been going to another board, but it's gotten full of angry trans ladies and I don't feel it to be a positive environment, so I'm coming back here for the time being. Maybe I'll stick around a while. Anyway, for those who don't remember me, I'll do the numbers: I'm 19½ Hormones for 2½ years SRS scheduled with Dr. Bowers this June Have had Laser on what used to be my moustache Getting Electrolysis to clean up for surgery Had name changed over a year ago Now getting to what I really want to talk about... I've been dressing as a girl in public and going as Natalya or Natalie for about 20 months, but I did…

Is Judge Kevin Ross homophobic, transphobic or both? I recently saw an episode of America's Court (SO1E18, original air date 30 Sep 2010). One segment of the episode was entitled, "Match Maker Mistake." A plaintiff contracted with a matchmaker to try to find the woman of his dreams. He was jacked up because he claims he was matched with a "man," and was suing to get his money back despite the fact that his contract clearly stated that there were no refunds. The defendant, a matchmaker, contends that the plaintiff was matched with a woman - that for all intents and purposes, the individual the defendant chose (she was one of three women he was matched with), was…

I know I ask an awful lot of questions, but as many of you know this is the first time that I'm open with myself and others about who I am. I wanted to know, because I'm in the process of looking for a new job, When would be the appropriate time to tell your employer about name/gender/pronoun business?

Hi, I had a burning desire to find questions on as a male dating on websites. It reflected a very conservative response from female gender on their part. So I eventually dealt with negative feedback from online dating and learned to live with it. Now during my four years of transition into female and living as her mostly, trying online dating is another false indicator not to get into to for learning to my surprising astonishment! Yes a lot attention you get as a women, one being as CDS women in online dating. But the websites are constructed in a way to discourage, men and women meeting in the SAME city where as men and women from far off different cities are encourag…

Hi I am not transgender myself, but I need to talk to some trans people about this. Story: I recently started going to college, and I met this fantastic guy. He's adorable and sweet, and I am very happy just being with him, but I have a few conserns, because he used to be a girl. I come from a really small town, and I was the only bisexual in my graduating class (there were no 'out' gays) so I know nothing about trans people because I have never been exposed to them. Is there anything I should know? -JessaLaFaye

I just want to give Aylwin some public gratitude. Over a week ago, I would have been terrified of letting anyone know. Talking to Aylwin and seeing how well that had been going to her really encouraged me to tell an old friend. I even got to hang out with this friend this weekend as shannon and it went really excellently. I was a bit nervous, but other than that she said it was one of the more normal/fun social times we'd had in years(possibly ever). That was on Sunday, and I thought that went well enough that I told a good amount of my closes friends yesterday, and even hung out with a couple last night. Things really couldn't better in regard to how everything wor…

  17. “I was born in 1983. I don't know of what particular relevance this specific is, except to think back to what things were like then. A few things were, in my opinion, better, like the quality of vacuous pop music. I'll take Lipps Inc. over Justin Bieber any day, even if he does come with k.d. lang's stamp of approval. The ratio between pay and productivity was better, though the government of the day was doing what it could about that small equity. And we had a much cooler prime minister here in Canada. And some things were, obviously, worse, the most glaring ones to me being the Internet and tolerance. Not only did people tend to have far less understanding, decency, and…

This may be an obvious question, but in case of being caught in public restrooms while dressed up as a girl, is it only a psychiatrist / therapist that can provide a 'safety letter' to avoid trouble with police/ storeowners thinking someone is a perv, or can general practitioners do that as well? I have contacted and been told by a gender therapist that they were unsure what I was referring to when asking about such a letter... whereas I was previously in an area where it was recommended by TG support groups to have a document specifically stating "so and so is undergoing transition" which was apparently acceptable but only if written by that persons psych. (It's also po…

I did not see this here and there should always be a thread of this nature. First off is your purse. Some feel pretty safe because they have there stuff in a wallet. But that wallet may be in a purse. You need to stop and think about that for a second. If you glance away from your purse even for a second it can be gone. Even if you glance up as someone grabs it can you actually change them down in those 3 inch heels? Your keys are in there, your ID... Your money. Hey they can beat you home and use your keys to get in... Where are you at? Where are the doors? If followed where is the nearest major store that will have lots of people? If you break down who can yo…

I have a date this week, and I'm rather unsure as to when would be the best time to let her know that I wasn't born as a girl. I'm thinking that I should after spending sometime chatting with her (like say one or two hours), which I'm hoping is enough to establish who I am before this revelation might affect any of those ideas. Granted, it's going to change some, but I'm just not sure whether it's wise to wait so long or to be up front about the matter. I mean, I'm afraid I'll hurt her if she becomes attracted to me and then she finds out that I'm not a girl. I know she's interested in me, she contacted me first for crying out loud; I guess all I can do is hope that she w…

Hello all, I've been depressed my whole life and just recently realized that this is because I've been confused about my gender this whole time. I really want to start taking hormones as soon as possible so that my body can begin its adjustment. The problem is that my doctor refused to prescribe them to me because of my psychiatric history. Is this illegal / prejudiced? Should I contact the ACLU? Please someone, I need advice! Erin
