I have looked into my states rules on changing my name. The process seems straightforward. If I was single and alone things might be easier, but many people strongly identify with me as a male because of my past and my traditionally male name. I like the name Amy very much, after writing so much on this website and becoming friends with other transgender members I really do feel like Amy as well. My mother always told me that if I was a girl she would have named me Sarah Jane. Since my mother did not know whether she was going to have a girl or boy when she was pregnant she had a boy and a girls name picked out. I can't help but think that my name really is Sarah b…

I have been out and about in my neighborhood. I get some compliments about my attire, all positive. I wear sandals during these months and I have received some positive compliments about my feet. A man took me just last night that I have beautiful feet. I always seem to get compliments about me that I don''t expect.

 This has been a tough nut to crack since I went full-time in '99...Friendship. First thing I lost were all my bible-thumping straight friends, but I had family...then the family started to drop by the wayside... But I was still happily [for the most part] married to my best friend...no worries then. But then she left me [ouch]....thus I became essentially a social shut-in....I worked all day/week, coming home to my little cottage near the Lake, only to emerge the next mornig/monday for work...I was/am a working girl...a dream come true many times over...but no social life cause: 1. Risky...who tell/share your life with will not take your stealth as ser…

I've shaved my thigh area a few times. I usually get ingrown hairs and stuff like that. I recently saw that I have this large mosquito bite like lump in my inner thigh. It's all swollen and red. Today I squeezed it to see what would happen and blood kept coming out of it. I'm really confused as to what it could be. It must be from the shaving.

Hey, Here's me again asking yet another question. Does/did anyone else ever have the issue that I am where you can't even focus on figuring out what you want to do with your future? I honestly spend more time thinking about trying to get out of my house and start transitioning, i really can't see a future without first being comfortable looking in the mirror. -Ty

So, I started T in october (which is super fantastic, I also realized I haven't been online in a while, and I've been getting messages about the phone conference thing which i constantly mean to call in but never get the chance to) Anyway, I apparently gained 30 pounds and on top of gaining that weight, I have a huge fear of seeing doctors, so I haven't had a Primary Care Physician since I was 18 (mostly because of the fear of my legal name, doctor commentary on my life as far on T and transitioning.) so I went 3 months with an ear infection, which the doctor at the mazzoni center (who prescribes me my T) prescribed me Amoxycillin for. But he urged me to find a PCP and…

Revelation! "Committed long-term relationships are not what I need right now." That and I couldn't see it lasting. Neither did she. The only difference was the timeframe. She thought it would happen later. The stress caused by my discomfort with the relationship was enough to affect my driving. Barely missed two crashes inside a single minute. Pulled into a parking lot and sat there until I could go on. Had to talk first though. Wasn't the best place for it, but then again, I didn't feel like I had a choice. Oh well. There's never a good place or time for "bd news." It hurt, but both of us will be ok. I think I'm going to try "casual" relationships, w…

Years ago I was in Spain and went into a bar called the Daunte, All the 'ladies' in there were wearing neck scars like back in the 60's. I found out later it was to hide the Adams Apple. My question is what is involved in removing the Adams Apple? BTW there is more to the story, but I'll not bore ya with it here (chuckles) SaltyRob

I have this complex about my height. Only because my parents see it as a way to discourage me from being the male I am inside. Everytime I talk to my mother, she comes up with you're too short to be a male, or what girl is gonna want a short guy like you. I find it rude and embarrassing. Anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it?

So, Family Guy is a pretty offensive show, on its surface. It's clearly meant as satire. All of the characters have major personality flaws (like pretty much everyone, right?), so when views are expressed on the show, it's often through the lens of someone who clearly has no clue what they're talking about, which should likely impress upon you that it's wrong. In a new episode of Family Guy titled "Quagmire's Dad", the character Glen Quagmire's father returns home for a celebration of a successful military career and then, as it turns out, to get a "sex change". There were glaring misconceptions in the story which may have been used as plot devices to craft a 30 min…

I remember one day when I was in third grade, sitting at a table with some of the girls in my class. I wasn't very sociable, so I was practically invisible during their conversation. They were talking about who had the longest hair and seeing who could cover the most of their faces with theirs. I wondered what having long hair was like. That's the first time I can remember wanting to be a girl. I never talked about it with anyone. I would fantasize about it late at night, wishing that when I finally fell asleep, I could be a girl in my dreams. That rarely happened, and when it did, I would wake up as soon as I realized it. I would be disappointed in the morning, but fo…

I hope you understand, this is a very real question for me. For example, today I was thinking about telling my son that I am transgender. He's 30, and I imagjne him saying, "Okay, what's that mean?" To which I'd say something about my always feeling not entirely "with it" in the masculine role, envying girls and women, wishing I'd been born one, etc. I don't think he'd get it. Or last week, my wife and I had a meeting with my therapist. She asked me, "What do you feel, that you know you're transgender?" I told her that is a hard question to answer. If I say I feel like a woman "inside," what does that really mean? I said that I feel I'm more emotional, sensitive, and e…

It seems just when I feel comfortable that a FtM is who I am, I get extreme feelings of doubt. It's usually after I see women together, that I feel like I want to belong there, but I just don't. I like the lesbian community. I think the love between two women is beautiful. I feel I want to be a girl that loves a girl, not a boy that loves a girl. But I don't really fit in with the gay females. Especially the man-hating ones. Then other times, I'll feel happy with whatever I am and I'll want people to see me as a boy. The more I see or talk to FtM's, the more happier I get. And I feel a sense of belonging, but at the same time, I feel a bit distant from them, like that…

I was at a transgender conference this weekend, and someone mentioned a sort of "puberty-blocker" that people are starting to use. Basically, if a child is diagnosed as TS at an early age, you can get some kind of implant that blocks puberty. Later when they grow up, they can decide whether to take it out and go through puberty, or start a different set of hormones. Has anyone else ever heard of this? -Lysander
