I have been out in my neighborhood more and more. It's very refreshing to see that people see and treat me like anyone else. I've even received some compliments. It's really wonderful that I can be authentic self. I see that there will be some changes ahead. I don't know what they will be but I sense it. This is nothing new with me because whatever I did sense in the past came to fruition. I will have a clearer picture in the months ahead.

Within what I'm going to write I will name no names. I'm really bad at names anyway so the chance I would remember the names correctly are slim to none, lol. This however is a serious subject I hope people will read. A dear friend of mine told me this evening that a person in the complex in which I live said she would never let her children near me because I'm transgender. This without my knowledge at the time but she wasn't going to allow her children to come to my haunted house. Again I don't know who this person is, it turned out she came with her children to my haunted house. Now two things are teaching moments here. One, parents understand I totally respect your want…

My partner told me of a coworker sitting in office. They were looking at the old picture of me that Deb keeps on her desk (they never let go of those old pictures). Her visitor, who knows me, said, "He certainly was a handsome man. But you know, he's not a bad looking woman." I'll take that as a deseant compliment since she's a lesbian. :D

I know, not a common complaint, huh? Yesterday I was out with friends (equinox and all) and spent most of the time hanging out with the ladies in the group.. had lots of fun. We met up with an old friend we thought we'd lost by way of a jerk husband, and she had left him and was doing well. On the way home we were talking about boyfriends, girlfriends, and sundries with one girl we were taking home, and she said... I decided I didn't want to be a lesbian because I just like the 'guy parts' too much. So my wife pipes up and says, well, I get the best of both worlds because mine's trans! The other girl didn't show any surprise at all, she just said ohhh yeah, I dated one…

Today the same salon that has cut my hair for about 2 years put specific conditions on my being accepted for beauty services. I called for a haircut as usual but reminded the stylist of my being transgendered and wanting a feminine hairstyle. I simply asked if it would be helpful for her if I wore make-up to help recommend a style that would be best for my facial shape and feminine identity in public. I was told that I would have to come in for a special appointment because my being there would be "bad for busines". I was told that because it was a small town everybody talks and the owner didn't want that. I respected the viewpoint that they were looking ou…

Change can be a good thing … I have read a lot of posts by others describing why they can’t move forward and validating their decisions accordingly. It is hard to make changes in one’s life, seems the longer we wait the more compound our reasons for remaining static become. Now my point is not to push people or so much to say this is wrong … I took my time with making the changes necessary to begin transition. I have mentioned in other posts that I am a tattoo artist, my own tattoos have personal meaning and many are linked to transition and trying to accept myself (in the beginning). I have many Nautical Stars (a dozen in various places) as they are for guidance … to hel…

Not sure if anyone else has dealt with this. I finally, after a very tough week, realized that i have been living my life for everyone else except for me. I always felt i was being selfish if I did'nt, in some way, conform. Take care of everyone but me. After a week from hell, I now know that, I need to be the man I am. And, if others don't like who I am, it's their problem, not mine. I will say, in this past week, dealing with loss, my dad's illness, and more, well I have never come so close to suicide. And i know it is all because i have been stifling who I am to please others. In looking to change my ways, I have been making a list of goals. Goals for my own …

Hello there. My name is Nathan, and I cross dress on weekends but would like to do more. I live in a group home and I am diabetic. I would like to transsition although I have 3 scars from a pitt bull accident in 1983 and move to where I would be accepted . I live near a sister where my family does not aprove I currently have a social worker (as my sister wanted), and a psychiatriist (medication management). I used to see a black man for a therapist but dropped it over time. Women are better therapist than men in my opinion. Know of anyone I could talk to? I live in Southeran Minnesota in a small town about 2 hours from the Iowa line. I do have insurance but it i…

Each year at this time, I set goal which I work to accomplish. It can be be anything from a reading goal to a writing goal to a personal goal. I have noticed to each year something about gender comes into play. Gender goals are harder to set because sometimes I may not be clear on what direction the goal will lead. Like life, gender is not stationary. I have considered some things off and on. Name change and transition are two things that come to mind. I believe most of you know my position about transitioning. Regarding the former, this possibility has gotten stronger. Really can't why except that throughout 2013 people viewed me as a woman. I'm no prophet but I ca…

For the >5 decades of my life before I came to an understanding that I'm transgender and that's okay I assumed that any small steps toward transition would be a slippery slope for me down Alice's rabbit hole. I was scared that I would find the euphoria impossible to resist, that transitioning would be like a rampant opioid addiction. I thus kicked the can down the road for many years while fighting depression and general mental malaise. I started transitioning two years ago with coming out to a small group of family and friends. Through 2017 I took more small steps with much reluctance and trepidation: buying more clothing, getting my ears pierced, starting work …

As most of you know, I don't plan on ever transitioning--and I'm a lesbian. I spoke to an older lesbian recently; she suggested that I try to meet lesbians my age and told me that if she were my age, she could "almost" fall in love with me. (She knows I'm a girl and says she can really see it.) This surprised me, because I look unmistakeably male in my physical appearance. (It's mostly people who can't see me who think I'm a genetic woman.) I had read about women in men's bodies finding lesbian partners, but because of how I look, I thought I would be more likely to be my state's candidate for Miss America than to ever have a lesbian partner. Also, I recently me…

“Two years ago, a woman named Kathy had a pivotal conversation with her daughter. At the young age of 24, her daughter told her she wanted to transition from being the woman Kathy and her husband had raised into the man she had wanted for so many years to become.” - Patrick Wallace Once a Daughter, Now a Son

I've been drinking and this may sound weird.. but I have to say it. Is anybody lonely in the transtion? I am. How do we talk, besides this forum. How do we talk to the people we know. This seems to be such a lonely journey. Do we really have to go thru this alone? I know there are support groups....but in northern wisconsin! Besides my shrink I don't have anyone to. Maybe this is just the time of the month; but I am really feeling down. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Sometimes I wonder what is worse, trying to pass as a woman while living out my day as a man who thinks like a woman, not attempting to pass at all but just carry on in my life with confidence, OR getting all dressed up to present as a woman knowing that some people will definately recognize that I am a man trying to look like a woman who may or may not feel sorry for me having to look so odd. I try to act ignorant of anyone looking at me at all, I don't really want to know what people think of me, but if they are interested in understanding why I act this way then I am more than happy to explain. Some days I look in the mirror and I see the feminine beauty in me. …

Hi folks! I just discovered that TriCare, the non-VA medical insurance for active duty and retired folks, now covers SRS with a twist- they need documentation (read: Psychiatrist and therapist) that the individual has suffered from dysphoria since birth. This is a major, major shift for the military community! Hoorah and cheers.

From a spiritual perspective, as a trans sexual woman, I am intrigued by the shamanic tradition in indigenious people of two spirit individuals. In some tribes we are considered blessed with the connection to both genders. We are considered healers and the receipients of the tribes shamanic traditions for healing and spiritual quests. Does anyone else see the transsexual experience in this positive light? Does anyone have sources of information about this topic

Does anyone know what it is called? Also, do only surgeons who specialize in FFS know how this is done? My upper lip is SCREAMING for this kind of help. I actually was contemplating rhinoplasty but upon close examination of my horrid profile shots, it aint the probiscus, its the gross flatness from under the nose to top of lip!
