What prompts a person to claim being attacked when s/he really wasn't? In the past 2 or 3 years, I've read a few articles about lesbians claiming to have been attacked (Charlie Rogers, Dayna Morales - to name a few), alleging a hate crime against TGLB people. Recently, there has been a trangender student claim to have been attacked while coming out of the men's room in school. He later recanted his story. Do these people believe they are helping to change things for TGLB people? What could possibly be going through their minds when they report crimes that never happened? In an effort to stave off getting "cabin fever" I try to find winter projects. Well, what to do? earlier this year I bought an antique sewing table (to use for a TV stand). I was wondering why the thing was so darned heavy. Well, opened it up and guess what? There's a Singer sewing machine from the 1940's. Wow !!! With all the attachments!!! While I didn't achieve some of my goals that were set, two events took place in my life. In June, I migrated closer to the transsexual spectrum. It was very subtle change but I view myself more as a transsexual. I dress at least half the time in women's clothing. Some day it will be full time. The second event was when I met with my veterans group in September. I usually come dressed as a male. The leader of the group asked why I didn't come dressed as Gennee? I had thought about it prior to the meeting. Ever since that day, I have gone dressed as Gennee. I also attended two wakes dressed. No one paid attention. I have been wondering about the way we (as a community) refer to women. Why do we so easily and readily call grown women 'girls'? Do you think that we should find another more respectful term rather than 'GG'? What about CGW (cis-gender woman)? Is this not a better descriptor? Am I being too politically correct? I know we shouldn't but I have been thinking tonight how much we stereotype male/female roles as parents and how much of the female stereotype comes naturally to me... My children are with me this week while their mum is away and thankfully I can pretty much entertain them without missing out on too much work, but while I have been enjoying the time with the kids I have also been thinking about my ex and our marital roles. I know that we have talked about this subject many times but I will never get used to people talking about me. I was at the mall the other day and I over heard some guys talking about me, saying "I couldn't tell if that was a man or a woman". I usually just ignore such talk but I just don't know how you can let it keep from bothering you. Should we just accept such behavior as a fact of life because of what we are? Am I alone in these types of situations or have others experienced such circumstances? :(

My life came to a standing point, I just couldn't continue on suppressing my true gender identity forever. After a meeting with my gender specialist, and telling me my diagnose, I returned home and started cleaning out my closet, throwing away my male clothes or clothing that was gender neutral. Hi everyone, So I went to a therapist and told them about my feelings and uncertainty about my gender and identity in general about 4 months. Since that time by myself mostly I have decided that I really think I want to transition to female. I have not always felt 100% about this possibility, but I feel quite strong about this right now. My next therapy session is in just over a week. How often should I be seeing a therapist concerning this in order to get this process moving along at a safe, comfortable, but not painful pace?
