For me, being TG is like having lived my whole life in a country where everyone looks a certain way except me; I've picked up the culture from my earliest years, to the point where I know no other, and many see me as a noncitizen because of my physical appearance. (Fortunately, women usually overlook that when they get to know me; the girls at school treat me more like they treat each other than like they treat the guys.) It's like being Jewish in a strongly Christian anti-Semitic country; by being who I am, I break the basic God-given rules the majority live by, and if people find out the truth, I'm finished. Male puberty is like changing from human to Neanderthal…

I am the guy who came out to the entire school in his senior speech and got a standing ovation for his courage. I am the girl who kisses her girlfriend on the sidewalk and laughs at those who glare. We are the couple who planned and studied and got a damn good lawyer and BEAT the state that wanted to take our child away. We are the ones who took martial arts classes and carry pepper spray and are just too dangerous to gay bash. I am the transgender person who uses the bathroom that suits me, and demands that any complaining staff explain their complaint to my face in front of the entire restaurant -- and shares with my other trans friends which restaurants d…

With all this discussion on the APA and how some within it want to proceed and see things.I think everyone including them should remember that when one seeks psychiatric help from a psychiatrist, the psychiatrist is there to help you understand yourself, your feelings, emotions and so on and why you think and feel the way you do about things. That being said, they then come to a conclusion based from their intelligence and unfortunately sometimes, based on their personnal opinion on an issue they think and feel they have a higher intellect and better understanding of.Giving no credit of knowledge, understanding and knowledge of self awareness of being to another having a fixed o…

Every year I set goals rather than make resolutions. I put a time table as to when I will achieve a specific goal. This past year events happened in my life that was unplanned for. I am the better for it. I identified as a cross dresser at the beginning of the year. In May I sensed a migration away from the cross dresser spectrum. It was always my contention that my gender issues ran deeper than just wearing womens clothing. I have crossed many roads in my journey but this marked the first time that I hesitated going across. In June I identified myself as a transgenderist. I wear womens clothing all the time at home. I viewed myself being between a cros…

  7. "Its odd that bi-sexuality often seems to be shunned by the gay community for example last year I was as [sic] a Pride in Chelmsford and in the entertainments tent I heard at least three of the entertainers refer to bi-sexuals as 'greedy'. I was quite hurt." - Caroline (from the thread "Advice Please" by Melanie) i did not want to derail melanie's thread "Advice Please," so i brought Caroline's comment here to begin a new discussion. GLBT. or, LGBT. seems the first two initials are interchangable depending on whether the speaker is male or female. The last two initials seem always to be in the same place...and as usual, the "T" is usually last tho it has become popula…

I just don't know where to start. I sat thinking the other day about my father and how much he has hurt me. So I decided to phone him and give him one last chance, I thought to myself if he rejects me again, then I will rule him out of my life and I agreed to move on. So I rang his cell and we ended up in a massive argument, which is what I thought would happen. So I let about 10 minutes pass, then I sent him a text message - " You're just like my mother, I know you'd reject me again, well, that's ok, because it doesn't matter how many times you reject me I still love you ". So I let a few minutes pass and rang him again, this time the conversation was a lot more ca…

I asked this question on another site. My reason being that maybe I can get some insight into something I have noticed. I don't really want answers from cisgender folk. I am more interested in what y'all think. I noticed that many transsexuals say they felt transsexual from the age of 7 or 8. Not all but very many. Have you ever wondered why that age span? Do you have a theory? The main reason I ask is to try to get some insight because of people I know and meet. Sort of get an idea of what they think so I don't say the wrong thing to them. Thank you.

  10. When you go out you want something but it never happens? You like to crossdress and you like to go out and show off that assets, that you have but for some reason or another it doesn't happen you plan everything through, you visualize everything, you see through every action but yet when that final moment or whatever space you have in a big city with lots of people there's always some excuse or something hindrance or some trouble spot that just doesn't go your way for far too many variables n big tight city and ahead of you a brick wall? You come back home with some boners or two yet you crave for more? Being a man its easy to talk to man as a man but (being her and as…

  11. An idea came up this morning in a chat session that I wanted to ask everyone about. Have your family or friends ever wondered if you were gay-- that is, in relation to your birth sex? And if you've been asked about this, how did it make you feel? If you are MTF and act womanly, or an FTM who gives off masculine vibes, and you haven't transitioned, does what others think of your sexuality concern you, more so than if they might wonder if you are TS? In my case, based on the clothes I'd hide in my room, my dad was resolutely convinced I was a gay male, even though I never acted effeminate or hung around with guys who were this way. I was sexually attracted to women, s…

It has been 3yrs that I've been seeing my gender specialist/therapist, and during my last appointment meeting with her, she addressed male pronouns on me, although my true gender identity/expression is female. During my last conversation with her, she explained about my life living as a "man"? I frowned at her comment, although I'm not denying about my biological gender, its just her terminology that upsets me, I find it hard to believe that I lived my life as a "man" since I always acted like a girl, playing with my Barbie dolls, among other things that I already told her about my past life, that things boys don't go threw. Perhaps I might be over reacting, and that it m…

  13. Coming Out, a New York Times interactive feature, contains videos and stories from gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans people. It is advertised as a "weeklong series," but I'm not sure when it began...so members might want to check this feature out soon in case it disappears. I haven't seen all the vids, or read all the stories, but one was interesting to me - a young gay teen who was in ROTC. He mentions putting off going into the military after high school (despite the repeal of DADT)...he feels he might still have to hide who he is. I wanted to go into the army after high school, but didn't because back then, it was assumed that any female in the army was gay. I …

  14. Dear Friends From tgguide I have learned so much from being a member here and contributed information to the best of my ability. Over the last 3 years I made an extraordinary effort to compile my diaries and feelings and Publish a book about my life as a transgender person. My publishing of this material was not only to help other people who have the same feelings as myself, but also for families, doctors and psychologists to have a better insight into the transgender mind. It will be a great challenge to get the people to read this book who would probably benefit most. I would very much like to share my life with all of you in this community. I cannot di…

I have been sitting back and looking over the whole transgender aspect of my life and I have official gave it up for good. I have tried for many years to accomplish the goal that most of the girls are accomplishing and it can't be done. Why? Because no one cares nor wants to be there for me like they claim in the community. It is all lies and don't say it isn't because I know better than that. I have tried to make friends within the community to get help and to try to transition and all I ever get is the cold shoulder and the brush off. To the community I am less then nothing because I am poor, on SSI and don't drive so therefore no one wants to bother with me. I am so ti…

  16. I've been living as myself, a woman for over four years now, post-op for over three ... I am who I always wanted to be, a strong woman working in my chosen field as an artist and have appreciated a full life. We (my partner and I) moved a year and a half ago to a fairly small town an hour or so from Toronto Canada ... recently a non-eventful visit to my (now not so) new Dentist required that a treatment be submitted to my insurance company, a fairly normal thing. Keep in mind now my legal name was changed some four years ago and after several visits to a couple different (because of moving) Dentists per year for check-ups and cleanings have caused no problems as my name h…

I actually went out en-pseudo-femme this evening for the first time. (Well, there were some false starts years ago, but let's just forget about that. ) It was only walking out to the car, driving 10 miles to pick up my wife and head home, and walking back into the house, but... wow, how wonderful. I had my androgynous urban grunge clothes but I had a pinkish shirt under my hoodie, a choker, my hair done in a feminine style, and the breast forms. I thought it was rather cute actually, and little possibility of mistaking me for a normal old straight guy. I had a "holy crap" moment when I first stepped out of my house because I don't know if I've ever felt so un-dissociat…

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you have a highly feminine behavior in order to be tg? The reason i asked this is because i'm a young adult that has question my gender (MTF). I don't really do girlish things because i do karate, go to heavy metal concerts, and go deer hunting. However, i like to interact with women more than the men because i understand them better. I wanted a female physique since age 14 because i wanted to fit in with them. I tried on a bra it was awkward at first but then felt right. I never dress completely because i'm afraid of getting caught because i live with my mom. Is mid twenties too late to transition on hormones for decent results? D…

Hi everybody! Happy New Year. It's a new year where new goals can be set. We expect this year to be better for many reasons. Last year may have been good or it may have been bad. We can't do anything about last year; we can only move ahead. I pray that in 2010 your goals and dreams will be met. Gennee :)

Ok so I decided to really take off on my transition and to become more relaxed as to who i am. Since doing so, when i am dressed how i am suppose to be dressed, ive been getting hit on a lot by other guys. I really do not have words to explain the happiness or euphoria i go through when this happens.Or even the excitement when you smile at them and say "im sorry not right now ok?" Its so new to me. To have this unique position on the sexual social ladder. Its very fun and flattering but wisdom is a must lol. Or youll be saying yes to everyone just because you're too flattered. Transitioning. Loving it!!

So I am a butch dyke and never have worn feminine clothing, looking in the mirror I look for square jaw, broad shoulders, muscle definition, I shave my head, I hide my tits, I do not like "girlie" things but I do like women, I have always felt this way. Despite not being femme I have never minded this body until now - for the last couple years it bleeds a lot and often and I am sick of it, fibroids - Hate the idea of a hysterectomy because I think most surgeons and hospitals are unsafe and a body needs its parts, But T - I would love to take T and look more masculine and stop bleeding (if it would do that.) Am over 50 but menopause is not visible on the horizon yet - is t…

If this isn't in the right section, let me know and I'll post in the right place. I have a couple of questions which are aimed at transsexual women who are transitioning or have already transitioned and have children that are still in school and I'm asking because that's the position I'm in and I'm really concerned about going 'full-time' and making all the required social changes because of how it may affect my almost 4 year old daughter. It's likely that going full force with my transition is gonna end up with the mother of my daughter stopping access which I will of course be fighting if it gets that far with her. The questions: -How have other children been with your …
