Coming the end of October to Virginia Commonwealth University 10-19- 2017 ......

I just learned about TDOR a few weeks ago, and the people in the LGBT group at my college including myself are participating. I believe we intend to do a candlelit vigil. One candle for each person who died since TDOR last year. It will be on our campus from like 6:30-9:00 on November 20th. Since i just learned about this i have no idea what these events are like or how many people show, but i am hoping quite a few students and other people in the area come by.

San Francisco Pride 2011 My partner and I attended the 41st annual San Francisco pride events this past weekend (6/25 and 6/26/11). I've never seen such huge crowds of people in my life! Estimates seem to vary regarding attendance with 500,000 on the low end to over 1,000,000 on the higher end. I would guess the higher end is perhaps more accurate. There are LGBT Pride parties all over the city including a transgender party and parade that was held on 6/24/11. Throughout the weekend, there are breakout parties all over the city, culminating in the Pride Parade on Sunday. Afterward, there is a huge celebration at the Civic Center. The Los Angeles LGBT Center and the City of West Hollywood are hosting a “job and resources fair specifically tailored for trans people,” according to a press release. Dear Friends, Just learned that the Southern Comfort Transgender Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which meets on the last week of September every year, has been discontinued due to lawsuits against them. The details can be learned by Googling "Southern Comfort Transgender Conference," and reading some of the websites that discuss it. Can't vouch for any of their accuracy. Yep, today's the day and I wish all you the best. Celebrate your existence, validity, and whatever visibility you have achieved. It seems that today's also the day when Brad Little, the governor of Idaho, signed into state law that trans girls may not participate in girls sports and in another law that Idahoans may not update the gender marker on their birth certificate. I also read that volunteers building that coronavirus camps in NY's Central Park are required to agree that transgender people don't exist, same-sex marriage is a sin, and gay people should be celibate or risk "damnation and eternal punishment."
