HI! I'm pretty new here. I have so many questions...But I figured Id start with something lighthearted and different. For those of you who have changed their names, where there any nicknames that you kept after changing? Any that you didn't want to give up? My family calls me "em" (shortened form of my birth name) and I really like it; but I know its not the alternative to changing my name. What did you guys do? find new nicknames? or keep them?

  4. A transgender story: My daughter, my son Los Angeles Times Sarah, once my daughter, is now Finn, a member of the transgender community. Those are hard words to write. I want to love the man my daughter has become, but floundering in the torrent of her change and my resistance to it, I fear I'll never make it... Read it to the end ~ Lori

I haven't posted here for a while. Been transitioning since 2003. It's been a tough road...transitioning in the same place , same job, family and friend opposition. But, today, I feel like the end is in sight. Talked to my Dad today. A person that has never accepted my transition. And, in our conversation, my dad said, "I wish i could be the man you are. You are a good man." Wow.. I can't even put into words how great that feels. Been a long time waiting for. Guess I just wanted to share this to let all of you know.....no matter how long it takes....never give up on being you!

I spoke to my biological father recently (after not talking to him for 8 years or so), as a favor to my sister. Well, in short, it didnt go well. It was like I didnt even know the man on the other end of the line. Then to top it all off, he kept saying he knew me. That he wanted to help me. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as i had growing up (to his reasons why he was never around), anyway, he went on trying to explain to me whats really wrong with me. As it turns out, even after both my sister and I explained Transgender to him, he has it in his mind that I have a multiple personality. He thinks that my new name (Alex) is my male personality, and that my female name …

  13. I just saw this article and thought I would bring it to your attention. Thinx launches line of underwear for transgender men who get their periods Remember Thinx? The company has been making headlines this year for their line of period-friendly panties. Now, they’re back in the spotlight, this time for a line of underwear geared at transgender men. This weekend, Thinx announced the launch of their new “boyshort,” a gender-neutral design with a 4-layer absorbent, leak-proof insert that holds up to a tampon-worth of fluid. https://ca.style.yahoo.com/post/133407922920/thinx-launches-line-of-underwear-for-transgender

I was flipping through channels on television and this show was on, decided to watch it. It's about a female, at the time of the show was 32 years old. His story has many up's and down's where the main focus was on his relationship with a cisgender woman and his desire to have bottom surgery. The show was by no means sugar coated, lots of emotions, arguments on many levels. Unfortunately I am not sure what channel it was, either ShowTime or Stars as my cable provider went down shortly after the show and my focus went to their service center. Any ways I would highly recommend watching this show if at all possible. Okay, I found it on Amazon and is free for Prime customers…

As I've not been around the board for more than a couple days, I don't know how appropriate this seems but I suppose the main reason for reaching out is that I'm kind of looking for a "big brother" of sorts, someone who's started transitioning and who can potentially take me under their hypothetical wing. I've only come out to myself this last week or so, as well as to my girlfriend and one other person, but that's it. I feel a little stranded and I feel like I need someone who knows what I'm going through and dealing with, among other things. So yeah .. any guys willing to take a little fellow like me under their wing?

  16. Dennis Starr, formerly Dennis Croft, a star in the reality show "Small Town Security" had top surgery during the show's second season. Starr had to endure an exam so that it could be determined if the offending breast tissue was healthy enough to be removed. The results of the exam deemed all was well, but apparently the idea of destroying healthy caused him a moment of pause. Would knowing the breast tissue you wanted to be rid of was healthy stop you from going thru with top surgery? Or even make you think twice? -Mike Once Dennis Croft, AMC's 'Starr' Discusses Top Surgery 6.28.2013 | By Andrew Belonsky

Weight training is something I have always been interested in, but never got serious about until these past 4 months. I'm now starting to see some great results. Wondering if any of you guys train or are interested in training. Maybe we could start a discussion.....things that work or don't work for you....protein supplements you use....etc.

So I've decided I'm going to try and talk my parents into helping me figure this all out (even though my mom still wonlt acknowledge it). I want to know how to start this all. ILve come out to my friends, my boyfriend and my friends. I'm going to talk to my parents about gender therapy. Also, if I want to do srs by the time i'm 18 or 19 when would be a good time to start the hormones and real life expierence...btw what is real life expierence?

My guy name is Oliver (over Facebook) or Joe, or Alex, or Ky, I haven't decided what I would call myself. I haven't posted in a while, so I'll just put an update. I knew when I was about 3 or 4, which led to cutting my hair super short. I kept it to myself, because I didn't know what people would say and I was really scared. I kept that up until 10th grade (15 years old), when I told two friends. One of them took it completely fine, but the other one wanted to retalk about it with her (the one that understood) and she later told me that the girl said that I was a freak. So that kind of turned it off for telling people, which none of my family knew yet. I finally …

So, I was remembering how when I first started this journey and the hormones asking myself, will I ever get facial hair, chest hair, the muscle growth I want. And realizing now, at 10 years out, I have become one hairy beast. And I love it. Yea I will say, on days I decide not to shave I probably look like the missing link. That's me. All animal.
