While we try to insure that the content here on TGG is kept at least at a PG level, on occasion a video is posted that might contain a word or two of strong language. Members have done well to include a warning with the videos they post if they catch an objectionable word or two. On occasion, moderators will edit a post to add such a warning if necessary. Be advised, however, that occasionally, links to other videos that appear at the conclusion of a posted video, sometimes are to videos which do have content that may not be suitable for all listeners/viewers, and such links should be followed only at the listener's/viewer's discretion. -Michael

Y'all know the drill here. I say a word and you post the first word that comes to your mind, then the next person follows, and so on. We might just learn something about your personality from this old psychological quiz. So here's the word: NEW

Hey all, I’ve been dismayed to see the silence around here of late. This whole coronavirus thing has us fearful and withdrawn. That’s a good thing. A resurgence of the contagion would just set us back to square one. Earlier today I was fearful that I wan coming down with it. I checked the early symptoms and it sounded ominous. But then I remembered that, from time to time, I have this “crud” that just happens, and if I lay low it just goes away. I’m feeling fine now so I think that’s all it is was. I’m so thankful. That’s the problem with such a thing. Once we have it, we have it, and can only wait and see what it means for us. Scary. Be well, …

Captain Bravo Long ago lived a seaman named Captain Bravo. He was a manly man’s man who showed no fear in facing his enemies. One day, while sailing the seven seas, a lookout spotted a pirate ship and the crew became frantic. Captain Bravo bellowed, “Bring me my red shirt.” The First Mate quickly retrieved the Captain’s red shirt and, while wearing the bright frock, he led his mates into battle and defeated the pirates. Later on, the lookout spotted not one, but two pirate ships. The captain again howled for his red shirt and once again vanquished the pirates. That evening, all the men sat around on the deck recounting the day’s triumphs and one of the them asked …

It's a fairly simple game. You post 3 claims about yourself. 2 of which are true, 1 is a lie. The next poster has to guess which one is the lie. There ae obviously no prizes, but it's fun to see how creative people can get, and it's also a fun way to get to know each other better. I'll start. 1) I collect skulls 2) I'm scared to death of my wife's macaw. 3) I wear a $200 watch. Can you guess which one is the lie? What will your claims be? Lets have some fun!!!

Learning the difference between THEN and THAN THAN Unlike then, than is not related to time. Than is used in comparative statements. EXAMPLES: ~He is taller than I am. ~Other than the interest on a small inheritance, he had no income. ~Today's students certainly do seem to read less than students in previous generations did. ~We learned more on the playground than we did in the classroom. ~Despite their lack of flavor, the hothouse tomatoes cost far more than those from the farmers' market. THEN Then is used either as a time marker or with a sequence of events. EXAMPLES: ~I took all of the exams in the morning, and t…

A very lovely day to everyone! I’ve created this thread for us to have another light-hearted discussion, this time, about the furry creatures in our lives. It’s always nice to have a four-legged companion beside you, especially in those trying times. I have a Siamese cat named Silya. She’s such an adorable dear, loves to cuddle and purr and sn uggle before bed time. I guess I could say she’s a bit spoiled, aside from buying her a scratch posts, pet supplements and squeaky toys are a part of my regular shopping list. She has always been a good friend to me, and I know, throughout my transition, she will still be there for me, hand-in-hand (paws-in-hand, I mean). How about…

Thanks for the suggestion, Daneela! Heinrich Ollendorff meant well. The grammarian intended his phrasebooks to teach German, French, Danish, and Russian to a new generation of language students. But who would ever need to speak these sentences? * Stop, the postilion has been struck by lightning! * A man is drowning. Is there a life buoy, a rope, a grapnel at hand? * Unhand me, sir, for my husband, who is an Australian, awaits without. * After having lost all my money, I was beaten by bad-looking men; and, to my still greater ill luck, I hear that my good uncle, whom I love so much, has been struck with apoplexy. Ironically, he’s remembered…

I've talked a lot about my babies. You guys know how much I love all of them. But we have a problem. The problem is Rollie, the bulldog. Her pic is below. I don't know if the problem is just the puppy in her, or if she's actually a mean dog. With people she is sweet as sugar. But she attacks other dogs. She went after my pitbull tonight. It was next to impossible to get her off of Lady. Lady's ok. No real injuries of any kind, just a lot of slobber. She has done the same thing with our 3 Chihuahua. She even got the macaw once and ripped a lot of his tail feathers out. We're at our wits end. We can't get a straight answer from any of the supposed "dog trainers" arou…

Just venting, I have been vaping for quite a few years, and have just discovered it is the culprit in my increased blood pressure. Switched to zero nic e-juice and for the last few days I feel like i'm dopey in the head, like a hangover, and agitated as hell. Not really related to anything here, just venting!

So I'm currently thinking about getting my first piercing, but I'm not totally sure yet. So... any votes? I'm leaning towards "1" but I also like the other two options. (I know, I've been doodling on pics of my ear all afternoon haha)

Same ol saying’s 52 years ago: ‘I’ll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it’s going to be impossible to buy a week’s groceries for $20.’ ‘Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won’t be long before $2000 will only buy a used one.’ ‘If cigarettes keep going up in price, I’m going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous.’ ‘Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?’ ‘If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.’ ‘When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we’d be better of…

I have been a member of Second Life (SL) for about 4-5 years. I stopped once for a period of time because I had come out to my wife and I knew she was going to be searching the computer for evidence. I deleted everything I had on it, so I thought. She found some files but I don't need to discuss that here. The point being I left Second Life once and had to begin all over again when I rejoined. I was able to keep my first name "Bonnie" but had to change my last name. It changed from "Riederer" to "Ryba". So I am now known as "Bonnie Ryba". I unsubscribed again when I returned to my wife but have had a friend of mine in SL resubscribe me again before the 6 months wa…

In another post, Bonnie commented that she wished she looked like Susan Sarandon. This made me think of the various male actors that I used to wish I looked looked like. So I thought it might make for a fun thread... Who have you wished you looked like? Or...wished that you could be? Me.. there's been a string of them, dating back to when I was very little, perhaps starting with Chester (Dennis Weaver) on Gunsmoke. After that: Clint Eastwood ("Rowdy Yates," Rawhide) Clint Walker ("Cheyenne," Cheyenne) Peter Duel ("Hannibal Heyes," Alias Smith & Jones) James Arnes ("Matt Dillon," later years of Gunsmoke) .....................Hmmmmm, seems to be a wester…

I want to get a lot of opinions on this. How does everyone feel about slurs, if it's from two people who are the same? For example if you have read The Outsiders there's a part where Ponyboy mentions that one greaser calling another one a Greaser is being playful. So how does everyone feel about more controversial slurs? If two gay men call each other the F word, is that ok? If two transgender people call each other tranny, is that ok? Also I'm curious about racial slurs. I can count the number of people in my life that matter on one hand, and I get a laugh if they call me a cracker. Anyone else and you're got a violent fight on your hands. Honky on the other hand, I don'…

A Russian anti-gay group has asked prosecutors to investigate milk cartons that it claims promote homosexuality to children. The label of the Vesyoly Molochnik milk, owned by multinational dairy company Pepsi Co, is adorned with a jolly milkman and a rainbow in the sky. Anatoly Artukh from the People's Council, says the label is a violation of St Petersburg's anti-gay propaganda law. "A rainbow appeared on the cartons, a world-renowned symbol of the gay movement," he said. "That immediately put me on alert." State prosecutors are now investigating if the label is attempting to promote homosexuality to youth, as Mr Artukh claims. "I have no doubts about …

P- Ming Calista, we've been dicussing English mining history as well as mining history here in Pennsyvania . While it's not a strong point for me , I at least have a working knowlege of some of the mining here in the States . Actually, I have several interests , including Early Ford history, ( 1932-1953 ). I write technical articles for the National Ford Club magazine . Oh finding a buried story on the Ford family itself is always fun too. I'll start with another one of my interests , building models of American Kitsch archecture : Now it's months away from being completed . Generally, it takes me almost a year to do one of these large dioramas . It's in 1…
