Cops often get a bad rap - especially from a lot of baby boomers like myself, and even more by those who were of prime age during the "hippy" era. It's not that baby boomers are criminals...it just wasn't cool to like the cops. And of course, we here at TGG, often condemn some police for their mistreatment of GLBT people. But every once in a great while, ya gotta give credit where credit is due. Being that we are (at least in the U.S.) officially into the holiday season...when I ran across this story, I thought it was one worth sharing. -dml Dylan Stableford, 11.29.2012 "It was freezing out, and you could see the blisters on the man's feet," DePrimo, a three…

Sometimes it's all too easy to be cynical. We see the "Top 1%" raking in obscene amounts of money, our politicians snubbing the laws for their own benefit, corporations raping the ecosystem and employees for the benefit of senior management and, let's face it, the Top 1%. So, when I see something very positive I am overjoyed and want to share it. "Net Neutrality" is something I understand at a gut level: it treats the Internet as a freeway system where all traffic has equal priority to reach end users without pay-for-special-service "lanes" that would enable (or hinder) selected traffic reaching its destinations faster or slower. It's absolutely critical and fundamen…

By Beth Greenfield, Shine Staff | Parenting – 03.15.2013 "“It’s actually sad so many people are excited about it,” Mongtomery said. “And what I think that says is, one, it’s rare, and that’s really bad. And two, people are really craving this kind of reaction.” The website founder, a 39-year-old gay man who has a strained relationship with his Christian fundamentalist parents—especially since he drove around the country in a “Legalize Love” campaign in support of Obama last fall—was personally touched by the note’s simple, powerful message." --shine.yahoo.com Dad's Love Letter to Gay Teenage Son Goes Viral

I wasn't sure where this one belonged, but since some have tried to blame it on transgenders, I thought it should be posted.

There's a lot of disinformation coming out of Washington about this. But the facts are as obvious as the nose on your face. A woman had stopped on her street. According to the mouthpiece in Washington called Noem, ICE was trying to get their car out of the snow. She is calling the murdered woman a "domestic terrorist". Which is nothing more than deflection as a brain dead monkey can see that the actual terrorists are the ones calling the shots. The woman (Renee Nicole Good) was trying to get home. When she started to move her car, one of the agents saw his opportunity to commit a cold blooded murder and took it. She had pressed her brakes and he opened fire, shooting her …

I've talked about this with Adrianne a few times, and she's all for it. Despite being in a wheelchair, I still know how to fight, and feel like I could be a good instructor. It's not martial arts. It's completely different. I won't teach anyone how to use a weapon, but I will teach them how to defend themselves against someone using a weapon against them. I've been in countless fights over the years and the only time I was on the losing end is when 4 cowards jumped me from behind. All that said, I'm sure I could help some people out. I wouldn't set an age limit, but I think I would do best with kids. They're usually a lot more open to taking in information, wherea…

Hello again, I dress every night after work, and I like to record some of my thoughts. I got the idea of a YouTube cgannel from a friend at work who makes underwater dive videos and has his own channel..I decided to do one myself to model my outfits and document my transgender journey. It is a work in progress for sure and has taken on a life of its own. I don't know how many trans comedians there are, but right now that is the direction I am heading. Needless to say, I have a ways to go in terms of contrent and production quality.. I think the one I just did on demonstrating how to take the foil off a bottle of wine turned out pretty well. It is called Wine Opening …

There's a site I have been to a thousand times over the years whenever I needed a chuckle. It's Bone Land. It has all sorts of flash on it, a lot of interactive stuff. The main character throughout the site it an idiot by the name of Jeb. There's tons of stuff at the site. If you want a recommendation I say check out The Court Of Judge Hellfire, and the town of Bumblescum. It's worth the visit. And go to the classic stuff. Some of it can get a little what some would call inappropriate, but most of it is just good humor.

I found this entertaining and possibly prescient. How many more times can Apple raise the bar enough to keep us coming back for more? "I was an iPhone man once, like you. Then Sh*tphone changed everything." "iPhones are really just sh*tphones from the future." https://medium.com/m...ry-a44e66434807 Some Language may not be suitable for all Readers

Anti-gay German mayor loses seat to gay candidate Sven Gerich, of the pro-same-sex marriage party Social Democratic Party, won with a small majority of 50.8% 11 March 2013 | By Joe Morgan " An anti-gay German mayor has lost his seat to openly gay candidate Sven Gerich, of the Social Democratic Party (SPD)." I have to say that I find the release of the Nunes memo and potential threats to Rosenstein, Mueller, and others deeply disturbing. I use this page a lot when I'm typing in other languages, mainly Spanish, to some family. She is helping me learn Spanish, and I want my grammar and punctuation to be correct. I don't know if it would be of any use to anyone else here, but I figured I would post the link anyway. https://tools.oratory.com/altcodes.html

Jul 29, 7:36 AM EDT STOCKHOLM (AP) -- She was off duty and wearing a bikini but that didn't stop Swedish police officer Mikaela Kellner from catching a suspected thief. A photo of Kellner pinning the suspect to the ground was trending on social media in Sweden this week. "My first intervention while wearing a bikini during my 11 years as a police officer," she wrote on Instagram. More here: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_SWEDEN_BIKINI_ARREST?SITE=SCAND&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&SECTION=HOME (No pics, sorry... i was disappointed too.)

Whether you have a president, prime minister, or monarchy, what is the proper way to refer to your government leader? Here in the states, we refer to the president as Mr. President. Since we have our first female president/vice president it would be Madam President/Vice President. There is almost always a “proper” way to refer to them that’s appropriate for this day and age. I can’t say I know much of anything about a monarchy, but I would venture to guess that people don’t refer to them as “Your Majesty” or “Your Highness” anymore. With a prime minister, I honestly don’t have a flipping clue. I know Canada has a prime minister, but I don’t know how they refer to him/her.…

I've mentioned other forums that I'm on that are Invision forums. One has a section that is Member Interviews. If they feel inclined the members post a thread usually labeled "Ask Membername" and the rest of the forum asks them random questions. What's your favorite car, where is your dream vacation spot, what food would you like to try, and so on. It's a great way to get to know each other better. I thought it may be fun to have that here. What's everyone's thoughts? Yay? Nay?

This is far from humorous, but this announcement brings back so many memories. Here's a link to the story: Keith Emerson, ’70s Rock Showman With a Taste for Spectacle, Dies at 71 My friends and I were big fans of ELP back in the day. We saw them at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium in '72 or '73 - it was fantastic! Our seats (not that anyone sat much) were about four or five rows back from center stage. I missed catching a white Hammond B3 key by about an arms length that Keith threw into the audience after stabbing rather large knives into his keyboard. Very fun. Very LOUD! Boom! As he rocked that organ back and forth on a corner, only to let it crash onto the stage.…
