Do you ever find yourself in a new locale and kinda bored with the tourist fare. I sure am. I was delighted when, some years back, I accidentally found and explored the Catacombs in Paris. What a totally cool and unexpected find. I recently heard on NPR about this awesome website called Atlas Obscura, which lists thousands of such things that you can locate near your home or wherever you're traveling: http://www.atlasobscura.com/ In case your interested, here's their posting on the Catacombs. Spooky when walking around by yourself as I was, but it's a fond memory I have forever: http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/catacombes-de-paris

  5. Non-sequitor? I say nay, these are some Heavy Metal or other metal songs I found to make me feel better when gender dysphoria is striking out at me. Whether you are having a rough day, doubting yourself, feeling depressed, or whatever I hope these songs will uplift your spirit and remind you to be free and happy. 1. Want to be a heavy metal queen? Sorry Doro has that spot already taken, but it doesn't mean this song won't feel somewhat relatable. 2. Sometimes we all need a refuge of our own, someplace that makes us feel at home, sometimes that place is music. 3. This song maybe a little intense for some, but I feel the song has a dark an…

Back when I was in high school, I always wanted to get into photography. Been thinking about making that happen for a while. Anyway, after 10 years on the same job, I was given a gift book and told to choose my prize. Selected an item made by Bushnell. It's a combo binoculars/digital camera. Received it in the mail the other day. Used my last few bucks to buy batteries and a memory card. So, hoping to get up onto the Connecticut river next weekend. Maybe get some pics of the eagles and other raptures that nest there. Psyched!

Scott Newman | January 04, 2018 - 4:05 AM ET ...The problem impacts processors going back more than two decades and could let hackers access passwords, encryption keys or sensitive information open in applications," -- npr.org Intel Acknowledges Chip-Level Security Vulnerability In Processors _____________________________________________________ I first heard about this this evening on the NBC Nightly News. This article seems to mention by name only computers and smartphones. But news on TV seemed to indicate that basically ANYthing that has a processor is vulnerable - computers (both lap- and desktops), tablets, smart phones, etc., regardless of brand. I would think …

Something popped into my head. This is just a semi-goofy question but I'm gonna ask it anyway. If there's someone you don't get along with on a forum somewhere, the best course of action is to block them, right? You won't be in each others faces and the fights usually stop. But what if there's a person you don't get along with at a forum that is a staff member? Like a moderator or administrator? You're fine with all the rest of the staff, but that one just rubs you the wrong way. Do you block them? Can you block them? Can they override your block? I don't have any problems with any of the staff myself, but I have blocked one person who's just a regular member the same as …

  10. Adrianne and I were out running errands when we saw a huge commotion. We stopped to see what was going on, and there was someone hanging off the ledge of the top of a parking garage. I watched him let go and hit the ground. The sound of the impact was nothing I would have expected. It sounded like someone slamming a car door extremely hard. Luckily, Adrianne didn’t see the actual event as I made her stay in the car. She’s kinda freaking out right now. I gave her some anxiety meds, so hopefully that will help her. It’s not something I ever expected to see. It will affect her pretty hard, but it’s not really something that phases me.

Okay...I understand why commercials aimed at men use sexy women to advertise products. But why do commercials aimed at women... use sexy women to advertise the products?? I mean...women like make-up, perfumes, lotions and stuff...things to make the hair soft, the legs smooth, and boobs look bigger and perkier, and already regularly search for and shop for that miracle product. Yet there are commercials (like lip stick commercials for example) that seem to rival those late nite date/phone sex commercials where the models are trying to entice men to call them. So what's the deal? -Curious Mike

  13. Why would she do this you ask? Because Lyin' Boebert is more concerned with protecting guns than she is children. She's lower than a snakes belly in a wagon rut. I know it's not LGBTQ+ related, but I still felt this is something needed to be seen by everyone. There is brief strong language in the video, which is why I wanted to share the link instead of embed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsGczbMkTmA

  14. If I had any marbles left I'd be looking for them instead, but this isn't the problem. I have a song lyric stuck in my head, and no matter what I do, it keeps repeating itself, over and over. I've tried listening to music, watching videos, playing video games, playing with my babies, and everything else I can think of. Nothing works. I'm about to paint a target on the wall and try running head first into it. Well, wheelchairing head first, but to hell with semantics. I also have a cast iron skillet. It's cold out and raining, so maybe a "polar plunge" would do the trick? It's not exactly December anymore, but it's still colder than a well diggers butt out there. And I hav…

The US is one of only 3 countries in the world that still uses the imperial system. The other two being Myanmar and Liberia. In 1975 President Ford tried to switch the US to using the metric system, but it didn't take. I personally can't follow metric very well, but like many of you it's simply because I grew up under the imperial system. But my reason for this post, is I want to know what people think on whether or not the US should again try to switch to metric? I feel like it's time to join the rest of the world. 3 countries out of how many hundreds of countries? I think it would make international trade much simpler, and could help American economies in a substantial …

Certainly much more "Off-Topic" than "Humorous" is this story that was published in the Huffington Post. Interracial Couple Banned From Kentucky Church The pastor Melvin Thompson "proposed that the church go on record saying that while all people were welcome to attend public worship services there, the church did not condone interracial marriage... His proposal, which was accepted by a 9-6 vote last week, also suggested that married interracial couples be prohibited from becoming members and used in worship activities, except for funerals." 23. I ran this topic by staff, and was told it was ok to post. I have seen a lot of talk about piercing and tattooing. There's a lot of people out there that want a tattoo, but don't know the full risk if you don't find a clean responsible tattoo artist and shop. There are not only blood born diseases such as hepatitis and HIV, but also others such as flesh eating bacteria. The pictures I am posting here are for people to see so that they know the risk if they think cutting corners is ok. If you do cut corners, you can lose more than the $20 you spent for the tattoo. Your life could be on the line. If you go to a shop that apparently has a good reputation, but you get on…

I will be absent from the forum for an extended period. My baby Gypsy died tonight. My mind has mostly shut off and I can barely think. I can barely even breathe. I don’t know when I’ll be back, but I will eventually return at some point.
