The title refers to the legendary Phoenix, of course. The ashes are less legendary but still there metaphorically. They are the ashes of the "bridges burnt" during my "successful" career as a Software Engineer. I hadn't known HE was burning bridges. I was told this recently by a recruiter who let me know that he'd submitted my resume to clients who informed him that they never want to work with HIM again. Now I've been unemployed more than 5 months. The unemployment benefits will run out in a few weeks. I have no savings and no other income. As it stands now HE has nothing left. Sometimes HE hasn't even wanted to live any longer and could have taken ME with HIM…

Today is two things for me. First, it's Australia day, which means my parents are out, I'm not, and I'm having friends over. Second, I'm transitioning today. In an hour one friend will be arriving with my clothes, and... yeah. My parents will come home, and then what happens happens =/ Its a scary thought, just having my parents come home and see me like that.

For those of you not familiar, that's a "Partial Hospitalisation Program". In practical terms, it's a 7 hour per day, five day per week, program of intensive therapy. This should last for 2 weeks. There might be an additional 2 weeks of half days also - "Intensive Outpatient" in the hospital's terminology. The reason I'm there is because my depression is bad enough that I can barely get out of bed in the morning, eat, or bathe. Suffice it to say that seeing my psychologist once every two weeks, and taking my meds, wasn't enough by itself. Things just kept getting worse and worse. This is good though. It provides structure that I desperately need, and active th…

Let's see, I wonder how long it wil take someone at work tomorrow to notice the fact that I got my ears pierced today, and that I'm wearing cute gold earrings. any bets ? I'll say it takes them an hour to notice. Bobbie Jo

Hello All I decided that tomorrow will be the big day that i come out. my dad is working afternoon/nights, so it will just be me and my mom home. Since i feel more comfortable talking with her i decided this would be the perfect time to tell her. I wrote up a letter and i'm going to show it/ go over it with my therapist today to make sure everything is well written, and worded right. I've gone over it again and again and i feel pretty comfortable with how it turned out. So as long as everything seems ok when i go over it with my therapist today then tomorrow is the day i do it. My emotions are going crazy, and i can actually feel them stirring up inside (if that makes …

There is a very interesting article about a transgendered woman, Rose, who will soon become the first transgender television host in India. The article " Tackling a Society's Boundaries, on TV and in a Family" is currently at "The New York Times" website. India, before British colonial rule, was generally one of the most tolerant civilizations in the world concerning human sexuality. Rose also briefly comments about her experiences living for awhile in the United States.

I am a professional Videographer/producer. I am currently planning out and working on a project that I have been putting together for some time. It will be a DVD Video that offers make-up tips, but also will go far beyond that. I have been compiling many tips and tricks over the years and decided to put them into a video to help others. There are so many little tricks that I have accumulated from other transsexuals, crossdressers, drag queens, etc. that will help many to be become more passable as a female. Many of us need help to hide our masculine features and bring out our feminine features. There are so many simple little tricks that are surprisingly amazing and hel…

I made this a couple years ago and it's all very medically technical as far as terms but covers all the basics of what to expect when going through HRT. You can look up terms for greater explanation of them.

Hey peoples. I am a judoka and recently fought at a competition. At 27 years old I am 5'11 and 155lbs. When I fought this weekend I fought in three matches to win gold in my weight class. One of my fights went into overtime and the other two were done under two minutes (the matches are timed for four). My question is, could I have had a competitive advantage? I trained hard for the fight and felt that my game plan helped a lot. However, do I really have to question myself if I win? What about all of my hard work training, didn't that mean a lot? Please do not hold back your opinions. I know this is a controversial subject. This is not me, but another transwoman who …

Transgender journey: recovering from surgery The Guardian When I got the date for my sex reassignment surgery, I wasn't so worried about the operation itself (I'd be asleep, right?) as its aftermath: how I was going to look after myself during the two months it would take to recover? I called my parents and...

There are many reasons why we cannot marry but so many more reasons why we should be able to. I stand before the many people who regard trans marriage as blasphymous or unmoral, great everybody has that right of opininion. But when it fringes on the happiness and well being of individuals in our country it's just plain very sad!!!Are we not citizens of this country, paying taxes and obeying laws and statutes. Doesn't our voice have say and ultimatley do we not have the right of freedom of gender and all the benefits that come with it. Religion Fanatics always has a way to weasel its way into politics. Suddenly religion claims that individuals do not have the right to "live…

Hi I am wondering if I am transgendered even if I get sexually excited wearing womens clothes sometimes but I also just like to wear and not have this happen? I have in the past enjoyed women's clothes as a pre-teen and and continued off/on over the years. I still sometimes just like to wear womens clothes because it just feels right but can still get sexually excited especially with certain lingerie and fantasizing. I look at sexy women and want to be like them and have bought women's shoes, lingerie, jeans, bras etc and enjoy wearing them. I love the feel of shaved legs pantyhose. I sometimes look transexual (shemale) porn and am sexually excited by this als…

Hi All! I'm very much interested in hearing from you about your experiences with transition, and how it affected your life at work, both positively and negatively. If I may, I'll start this string with a recap of what happened to me. I'd like to tell you that my transition on the job went smoothly. The reality is I lost TWO positions during the first two years of my physician-prescribed HRT regimen. Both situations were a bit of a nightmare. At the first job, which was telephone research (cold-calling), I was flat out told by my less-than-sympathetic boss that, "until you cut your d*** off, I will call you Paul." This after I had informed him …

I wonder if this has happened to any of you . I have had a 15 year plan of transition and as I have always taught my students "plan your dives and dive your plan , no variation " I have always applied that philosophy to my life and now I am the one wanting to violate the rule.I have moved slowly since accepting who I am and now that I have taken that step of changing my name I find I am wanting to go all in and get done . There are so many risks , I regret not changing my first name but were I to do so I would lose my job ( Missouri has no gender protection laws ). My wife is disabled and requires a great deal in medical and prescription cost as do I for that matter and …

So situation: You have to go to artificial means to increase passability. Only: No going to doctors. No buying anything from stores in person either. You are an adult, but you do not live alone. Do you anonymously order things over the net then check your real life mail? Is there some safe way to buy anonymous electrosis which is mailed to you then you use it in real life? Also are there SPECIAL hospitals particularly for transpeople with competent doctors who can do various surgeries for a price? It would also have to be in a pretty isolated spot. I wouldn't want to exactly walk into some building in a very busy public spot with "Transgendered people enter here!" righ…

Differences in the brain's white matter that clash with a person's genetic sex may hold the key to identifying transsexual people before puberty. Doctors could use this information to make a case for delaying puberty to improve the success of a sex change later. On two occasions, I have had what I refer to as 'transsexual feelings'. My journey toward the transsexual conundrum has begun. Last year in June I declared myself as a transgenderist. I felt equality comfortable as masculine and feminine. A few days after that declaration I had the transsexual feelings. Fast forward to June of this year and those feelings came again only stronger this time. The feelings happened again a week or so ago. When I came out as a cross dresser over five years ago, I felt a kinship with transsexuals. I had two incidents which may explain what I'm feeling. I was ma'amed by a man while coming out of a store. I was dressed in male clothi…

I am asking this because I am increasingly feeling lost , I am not sure where I belong . I know I am transgender but I also know this is a largely an umbrella term . I wear only womens clothing save for my shirt at work , I only use womens products , I use pantyliners and am taking mild hormones ( not to create physical change ) would that I could I would have breasts but I do not want to transition. So where do I fit in our community ? I have become increasingly confused as to where I fit in , I have been coming out more and more and really don't care anymore who knows who I am .

I got a copy of this today on the recommendation of my HRT doc and read through it over the past two evenings. Real interesting book, that. It seems pretty complete and unbiased. There are a few things I'd have thrown in there but I can't really fault it on breadth in general. Reading through some of it was really painful. The earlier chapters opened old wounds and the later chapters re-opened recent ones. *sigh* My doc said when she transitioned she just bought a stack of about 10 and sent them out to various people. Seems like a good idea, though as Michael discovered regarding this in his visit to his mom.. you can lead someone to water, but ...

I know there's a member intro forum on here but I see more activity here. Here's my deal... I am a 40 y.o. male. By the time I was 9, I knew that I did not identify with my assigned gender but didn't know the words to put with it. I would go to my cousins' and play barbies with them. Throughout elementary school I kept female friends and would play house with them at recess. I even found my mother's little girl cloths she kept in a dresser in our guest room and would play dress up alone. Back then there just wasn't anywhere to turn...you were just directed on how boys were to act. To this day I've kept up with dressing up in private and have a very understandi…

Hello All, I've been visiting the board lately but not posting much. There is lots of fascinating things going on around here. Though neither TS nor much into sports I am curious as to how the athletic world accepts trans-folk. Are there all sorts of 'roadblocks' to participation? Would a MtF be considered to have an unfair advantage? Either perceived or realistically? How do hormones figure into this? Do you have to be concerned about brittle bones as elderly GG? While several questions have been thrown out for starters, I'm hoping this thread will be used to address the topics of sports participation in general and go beyond these initial questions. Please f…
