Just came across this post in Medium. Wow, do I understand. I remember wishing I had a dress at 3 and I can also recall Fallow's shame for his dreams. He's lucky to have his father: https://medium.com/@chdwck/my-son-in-a-dress-is-not-a-political-statement-b5556269ab66

After talking to my best friend and her mom I want to start transitioning. My friend started three years ago and she looks so much different. Her mom is very supportive of her decision but I know my parents won't be. I haven't even told them how I feel. My friend and her mom said that they will help me as much as they can. What should I do? I don't want to wait until I've fully gone through puberty as a male to start to transition to female because I know it will make it much more difficult.

Transgender children focus of Rainbow Center lecture UConn Daily Campus Yesterday in the Rainbow Center, Dr. Barbara Gurr gave a lecture with a very personal undertone about the parental view of transgender children. Her daughter Haley began at the age of three to assert that she was not a boy, Harry, but truly a girl.

I think most people care about kids. I hope so anyway. Do I really need to go into the suicide statistics? Do I really need to talk about the mental heath issues caused by long term stress? It breaks my heart when I speak to children who face the fate I endure. It's simply not needed. Please help by doing what is so easy.

Hello Dr. Spack, My name is Erica Elizabeth Ravenwood. I have been, among other things, an advocate for transgender children. I myself am transgender and I recognize the immense need, my obligation, to try to save transgender children from living my fate. I ran across a lecture of your's on YouTube. It was posted by a parent's group and was listed after one of my own videos. I was thrilled to find we agree on every point. I would like to share my work with you. I have no degree. No formal schooling. Bullying took that right from me. Still I would be very pleased if you would take a look. Though denied the chance to learn in a classroom setting I have been blessed to stand…

By ANEMONA HARTOCOLLISJUNE 16, 2015 In a cozy cottage decorated with butterflies to symbolize transformation, Katherine Boone was recovering in April from the operation that had changed her, in the most intimate part of her body, from a biological male into a female. It was not easy. She retched for days afterward. She could hardly eat. She did not seem empowered; she seemed regressed. “I just want to hold Emma,” she said in her darkened room at the bed-and-breakfast in New Hope, Pa., run by the doctor who performed the operation in a hospital nearby. Emma is her black and white cat, at her home outside Syracuse in central New York State, 250 miles away. Her childlike r…

I just found this article on Forbes, read it, and then watched the YouTube video. Below is the link to the article and below that is a link to the YouTube video because it can't be viewed in full screen (for some reason) on Forbes. I posted it here in the youth section because I feel it would be so valuable for any young person to watch, trans or not: Article: VIDEO: Watch Youth Soccer Coach Come Out As Transgender To His Players Video: Authenticity: Portland Community Football Club Founder and Director, Kaig Lightner, shares his identity of being a transgender man with the players.

Here's a delightful story and link to NPR's audio report on Allie, a transgender 8-year old girl. "[People say,] 'You know I'm not against anyone that's transgender, I just don't want them using my same bathroom.' I mean that's like saying, 'I like black people, I just don't want them to sit at my lunch counter,' " Jen says. Allie doesn't know much about the debate over bathrooms. School and dance classes keep her busy, along with the lessons she shares with neighbors about what it means to be transgender. When The Kid Becomes The Teacher: On What It Means To Be Transgender

Jan 31, 7:16 AM EST By CLAUDIA LAUER Associated Press DALLAS (AP) -- A New Jersey woman whose son was asked to leave his Boy Scouts troop after leaders found out he is transgender said she has mixed emotions about the organization's decision to allow transgender children who identify as boys to enroll in its boys-only programs. The Boy Scouts of America announced Monday that enrollment in its boys-only programs will now be based on the gender a child or parent lists on his application to become a scout, rather than the gender listed on the child's birth certificate.
