Sunnivie Brydum, August 06 2012 4:00 AM ET "Olson believes that current research looking for a “gay gene” is searching in the wrong place. Rather, Olson contends, sexual orientation is determined by brain hemisphere dominance. Most men are left-brain dominant, whereas most women are right-brain dominant. Seizing on the implication that “most” necessarily excludes some people, Olson wondered what happened when brain dominance was reversed from the standard. "After reviewing a large collection of scientific literature, Olson hypothesized that when a man is right-brain dominant or a woman is left-brain dominant, that person will be gay or lesbian." -advocate.com New …

I told my dad last night that i am transgender and asexual. He seemed okay with it at first, but then earlier today he indicated that he thought i wasn't really either of those. He seemed to think that some of my friends in my LGBT group somehow persuaded me that i was transgender and asexual rather than realizing it on my own. At first i thought he was accepting of me but now i am not so sure. What do you think? Do you think maybe he is just trying to cope with it? Do you think maybe he is trying to make sure this is who i really am? I am not sure what to think and i need to know how he feels about me.

The National Center for Transgender Equality has released results from an extensive 2015 survey about transgender life in the United States. This report presents the findings of the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey (USTS), a study conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE). With 27,715 respondents, it is the largestever survey examining the lives of transgender people in the United States. The USTS provides a detailed portrait of the experiences of transgender people across many areas, including health, family life, employment, and interactions with the criminal justice system. Well.. I haven't been a fully active member here for a long while. Mostly because I reached a stage in my transition where I could be myself, so it was nice and I became comfortable and I didn't think about my problem so readily as to come here and share my thoughts. Of course, from time to time, however, I did drop in and say hello to you all. Post my thoughts on current topics and so on. However, my comfort has began, to in a way deteriorate. I suppose it is that same vicious cycle I talked of in an earlier reply of mine. The more I experienced, the more I wanted more. What I said was that, when I tried to be a girl as a boy. I found contentment in roleplay online. T…

I first apologise for this long rant of mine and also i maybe unable to clearly articulate the nature of my present dilemma precisely. But nevertheless, i really would clearly appreciate of any insights from you. I have been trying to discuss the question with very many groups, i frequent, both online and in RL. Okay here is a brief outline of my present life, out of gradschool and on the way to job hunting. i have no ffs as of now, but i pass most of the time. I do not make a impressive personality but when strangers meet me , they see me most of the time as a dull, simple uninteresting girl. In short terms, I am comfortable with my present appearance most of t…

Hey everyone! Soooo I don't post here as often as usual recently, as I have been quite busy with getting all the final steps of my transition in order. I am happy to say that this month of October has been quite possibly the best month *ever*. Despite some recent heartaches, bad breaks with being stolen and robbed from, and being discriminated at a particular job, I am happy to say, life in stealth is now a complete reality. Now, I have been going by Ashlee here for a number of years, due to the fact that I chose that name as it was the name my parents had planned for me during the pregnancy with me since I was assumed by doctors and all others to be born a gene…

I haven't been around much but thought I'd just say Hi. It's been a long cold lonely Winter. But spring is here again, So I will probably be too busy to bother much with anything. I am thankful for the friends that stayed in touch and helped get me through the depression of winter and look forward to hangin' with them in the future. I've made some new friends as well. I hope life is going good for everyone here and wish you all the best

I'm really lost and I thought some of the men and those who were saddled with a female upbringing much to their distress might be able to help me understand. There's a lot of pronoun switching when I'm describing the man I care so much about but it's not meant to be disrespectful it's just how messed up I am. I have a very good friend and i asked "her" out 3 years ago and zie was the only person out of 3 people I asked out to really respect dating in earnest. Something was missing but even after he broke it off we still hung out every friday most days with "her" staying over on the loveseat. I didn't really have feelings for them but my sister was convinced I was in lo…

UK law is now punishing transgender people – often very young – for having sex ‘by deception’ because they didn’t tell their partners their full gender history first 03 July 2013 | By Ashlee Kelly "The potential for transphobic cases to spring up over a bad relationship is a terrifying prospect. I shouldn’t have to make a recording of everyone I give intimate details about myself to." --gaystarnews.com Stealth trans people having sex should not be criminals

Does anybody have any advice on what career options would be suitable for a MTF transsexual? I am currently pre- everything so it has to be a job I can transition at. I have a degree, if that helps. Also, I am from the UK and I am quite good with people if that helps. Ty.

In another thread I saw a couple of members say something like "well, we all started as crossdressers." And as I read that I thought well, yeah. But no! Heck no! I suppose I wanted to crossdress but I didn't think of it like that at all. I thus think it would be fun for us to post something about this. And to get it started, here's a few words about me: I was probably 4 or 5 when I realized how much I envied girls and wished I could be one. I remember situations at nursery school, playing with the girls - it just felt right and lots better. But somehow, although no one told me, I felt awareness that it was wrong. I was 7 when I talked my father into taking me to se…

I finally found a hairstylist that will take care of my hair thanks to my mom. Before this happened,I have been told to leave and will not be served. My mom talked to her hairstylist,Joanne and said she proudly does transgendered women too.Walked in meeting Joanne yesterday and we hugged. She seen my hair was a mess and we discussed options for me.Told her that I wanted something simple to take care of and one of the styles Joanne mentioned was a bob cut.I picked that and I always liked Heidi Klum's hairstyles.I seen this one and picked it, http://www.whairstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/heidi-klum-long-bob-hairstyle.jpg Went to work and I was a little emotional saying …

Early in my transition, confused and feeling alone, I was excited to find that there was a local group called Tri-Ess in my area. I reached out to them for help... and was shot down! Why? Because I identified as bisexual and transsexual. You see, Tri-Ess was, and still is, only for heterosexual male crossdressers and their wives. It was my first taste of the in fighting in the transgender community. It hurt to be excluded from a group where I felt I might be able to finally be myself. Still alone but desperate to find others like me, I turned to the personals that appeared in the local newspaper. I hate to date myself, but there was no Internet back in those days. Fina…

I'll bet that most of you have seen the movie "A Soldier's Girl". I just bought the DVD and this is the best love story I have ever seen, bar none. I could not keep from crying to save my life. The ending was so sad. If anyone hasn't seen this movie I highly reccomend it. Note: keep a box of kleenex handy. The next movie that I want to see is "Normal". Have any of you seen it?

Hi Everyone. Not sure if any of you have heard of peer support or of respite centers. It's an alternative to psych hospitalization. The person that started this is a dear friend of mine. She has been asked to come up with new ideas to deal with the transgender community in different states and has asked for my help. I can tell her about experiences I know of. Would like others input also. the questions being...if you are a trans person, just starting your journey, What kind of support would you need? What could someone say or how could they talk to you that would help? If you are a person that has been transitioning for a while...and still dealing with hardship...what wou…

Hey everyone I haven't been around here recently. I've been going to another board, but it's gotten full of angry trans ladies and I don't feel it to be a positive environment, so I'm coming back here for the time being. Maybe I'll stick around a while. Anyway, for those who don't remember me, I'll do the numbers: I'm 19½ Hormones for 2½ years SRS scheduled with Dr. Bowers this June Have had Laser on what used to be my moustache Getting Electrolysis to clean up for surgery Had name changed over a year ago Now getting to what I really want to talk about... I've been dressing as a girl in public and going as Natalya or Natalie for about 20 months, but I did…

I came across this article and I thought it was a good read. I thought it explained just that...How to be Human. This is very frustrating and this message needs to get across to the rest of society and the discussion needs to be constant and ongoing, in it's proper terms...Human! Living authentic for almost a year now and choosing be very visible and public, I've posted it on my social media because quite frankly, I'm getting tired of correcting people, and teaching them manners.🤨 Additionally, at the end of the article, there are also links to several procedures which I would have found helpful when I began my transition. https://www.healthline.com/health/…
