Hi Everyone. Not sure if any of you have heard of peer support or of respite centers. It's an alternative to psych hospitalization. The person that started this is a dear friend of mine. She has been asked to come up with new ideas to deal with the transgender community in different states and has asked for my help. I can tell her about experiences I know of. Would like others input also. the questions being...if you are a trans person, just starting your journey, What kind of support would you need? What could someone say or how could they talk to you that would help? If you are a person that has been transitioning for a while...and still dealing with hardship...what wou…

Neither Man Nor Woman: Meet the Agender New York Magazine The social network has become an unofficial home for the gender neutral. Though most group themselves with the transgender community, they reject the narrative of a person born into the wrong, oppositely-gendered body... I found this to be a very interesting article... Gender neutral folks who are alternately called agender or gender neutrois. ~ Lori

Hi. I am new to the board and just wanted to say Hello. I am TG and don't see anyway to transition or "come out" with out hurting others. I am married and have two precious girls I couldn't bare to see hurt. I think one reason I got married was I thought it would "cure me". Ha. Before I got married I was under going electrolysis and working on my figure. I feel myself going back in time trying the same things "without electrolysis". DOES IT EVER END? I just wish I could atleast dress and lay back fem for one whole day. Seems impossible these days.

Hi everyone. Just found this site the other day. I'm mtf, began my transition 12/09 and things are finally starting to show. Just took the big step yesterday of telling HR at work. Not quite ready to have them go out and tell everyone just yet, but the times getting close. Anyways, I would love to meet other girls around the NYC area who would like to chat, maybe get together sometime etc. I'm a great listener and fairly bright (so i tell myself.)

Hi everybody! Happy New Year. It's a new year where new goals can be set. We expect this year to be better for many reasons. Last year may have been good or it may have been bad. We can't do anything about last year; we can only move ahead. I pray that in 2010 your goals and dreams will be met. Gennee :)

:) In the spirit of the holiday, here's a few questions about a longtime tradition. Have you made any New Year's Resolutions? Are you planning to? Have you ever? What's the longest time you stuck to a resolution? What do you think the most common New Year's Resolution is? Annie

Good afternoon - First of all, let me say what a great resource this forum is! Thank you for having me. I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist working in New York and am the clinical director of the NYU Child Study Center Gender and Sexuality Service (NYU CSC Gender and Sexuality Service). At our program, we see kids as young as 3 or 4 all the way up to young adults in their 20's. As a huge part of our work, we feel it is our responsibility as physicians and psychiatrists to dispel the misinformation in the field and the community at large about gender variance. I think that as a field we have made tremendous strides in the last few years, and I'm happy …

I don't know if I had posted this topic before on this message board, perhaps it was on another forum? Anyway, the topic is about having my biological name changed to my female transitioning name legally. In the meantime, I had nicely asked my close friends who are aware of my transitioning, to call me by my female name. Recently, my friend and I were eating out at a public place. I was dressed up in women clothing, and Hellene had asked me to flag down the waiter to come over to our table, and then she told him.. "oh he want this, and can you bring him that" meaning me. Hellene said this loud enough, that is caused attention in the restaurant for other ladies to stair …

Today is the ninth anniversary of my coming out. It was such a relief when I first came out. All the internal stress and tension dissipated with that one act. Ever since that day my has been wonderful. Over these years I grew from a struggling cross dresser to a contented transgender woman. It's wonderful when I read that many men and women come out on their own. I have tried to be helpful to others in any way possible. I have been helped immeasurably by man people on the forums and in person. Looking back, it has been an interesting journey to say the least. It get more interesting every day. I certainly would not change anything.

I know I know it gets a little old talking about boobs but I just wanted to share something. My aereolas are getting wider and lighter in color. I don't have the cone type nipples. They are thick and long. My breasts are round and feel heavy and have some bounce to them. They are not growing in the typical tanner stages. They really look like boobs. If that makes sense.

I have no regrets of purging of my old male clothes. It was back in August I went into my closet and threw every piece of male clothing in boxes and sold it all.I am much happier too seeing them gone for good although I am transitioning.I love my all wardrobe of women's clothing and shoes now and there is no going back.I love to shop for clothes now even more.Been transitioning since August also and things are going good so far.I am loving the changes the estrogen and the male hormone blockers are doing to me.My body is changing and hair is growing out.Noticing the development of my breasts too.My therapist says it is going to change more in the 6th month of my transition,…

Finally the athletic community is addressing the issue of transgender athletes. As a transgender woman most of the time I run in my women athletic clothing. I have take herbals for over three years now and now need to wear a bra and have a softer trim body that fits well in women's cut sports wear. I actually almost look funny in men's cut sports wear. ----- this discussion focus will be on the social and acceptance aspects of the transgender athlete. In my case I never expect to finish SRS but I do feel like more like a woman athlete and do wish to complete at least as non-binary in future sporting events.
