In early January I was invited to present a speech at a local medical center to about 25 resident and non-resident MDs. I worked so hard to make it a good one. I read a great book about TED Talks, spent several hours creating a draft, and presented it to a couple of girlfriends who provided helpful feedback that resulted in a complete do-over. More hours. But it paid off. I had a wonderful time speaking to them and after, answering their questions. They gave me a standing ovation! Wow, how cool is that. Here's the script: I’m 63 years old, assigned male at birth, retired, and started my gender transition in mid-2017. I’ve been married twic…

Last night while out celebrating our anniversary my spouse and I discussed more about transgenderism. I don't remember how the converstion got started but we had an interesting conversation. She has read some of the book I'm currently reading My Husband Wears My Clothes by Peggy Rudd. Louise showed me something on page 94 of the book. It is a case study of a 13 year old girl who father is a crossdresser. Lydia, her sister, mother and father share clothes. They go out on shopping trips together. They are an open and loving family. We have gone on shopping trips a few times and we share some clothing. I tease her and tell her that its easier on budget. We haven't foug…

I was at the Goodwill Outlet Store last night again, and saw .. I'm not sure if they were a CD or a badly not-passing TS, but ... Just like the type of people that people are always mentioning on here as "probably shouldn't transition" -- probably 6'5", very masculine facial features, uhhh moderately functional fashion sense, totally unmasked male voice. The heartening thing is that there were quite a few people at that place last night and I didn't see anyone giving them a second look really. I mean geez... people are always worried about what will happen if someone reads them, but it makes me feel a lot better about trying even if I don't 100% succeed at first. (Sorr…

“Your child might be gay. I'm not talking about your neighbor's kid or your cousin's kid, and I'm not even talking about my kid (although they are certainly included). I'm talking about your kid. Your kid might be gay. You may want to protest: "My son doesn't like show tunes. He likes football and Legos." "My daughter doesn't play softball. She loves princess dresses and pink." "My son has a girlfriend." "My daughter has a boyfriend." "My child is too young to think about those things."” - Amelia Open Letter to Parents: Your Kid Might Be Gay I thought this to be a wonderfull letter to share here as it can just as easily be applied to transgende…

I realized when I was about 4 or 5 that I'm not a girl on the inside. I'm a boy trapped inside this body, like an animal. I'm not supposed to be a girl. I'm supposed to be a boy. Aside from that, once I found out there were others like me, I started to come out. But coming out to some people is easier than coming out to others, like my family. My aunt, who hates gays and lesbians and etc., said that gays are possessed by evil demons. There's something wrong with her. I'm certainly not possessed by an evil demon. My mom, just thinks it's a teenager thing and I'm too young to think that I know stuff like this. But she's secretly confused and it's pretty obvious. She wo…

Helen Belcher of Trans Media Watch highlights institutionalized discrimination in Britain’s National Health Service and media 14 January 2013 | By Helen Belcher " Three of us had spent a couple of months beforehand collating evidence, much of it heart-breaking, lots of it that could never be released into the public domain. The invitation from Lord Justice Leveson came as a real shock, and involved much thinking about whether I should appear behind screens, or with the cameras switched off." --gaystarnews.com Burchill shows anti-trans media attitudes remain See related:

BY Trudy Ring January 18 2013 6:32 PM ET "In the episode, heroine Bo, who investigates crimes among supernatural beings, is in a prison run by Amazons, the mythical tribe of women warriors, GLAAD reports on its blog. The villainous warden appears to be a woman and claims to be an Amazon but turns out to be biologically male, and the revelation leads the prison guards to attack the warden." --advocate.com No Antitrans Bias Intended in 'Lost Girl,' Say Producers ________________________________ I watch "Lost Girl," and I saw this episode. I was sorta surprised when I saw this article, and while I never thought of the episode as being anti-trans, I can certainly u…

November is traditionally a busy month for me. I've bee slowed down the past few days by elevated blood pressure (doing better, thanks) but the mind is still sharp. Next Monday is Veteran's Day. I have marched in the past but this time I will be a spectator. Though my transness was hidden from me when I served I am proud of my service. I will attend Transgender Day of Remembrance festivities also. Once again I plan on speaking briefly. Over time these two events have meant more to me. What it demonstrates is that we are everywhere. We have talents, gifts, skill, and perseverence. No one can ever tell me we can't perform. We have done well even under duress. With th…

Sometimes asking " what if? " can help solve certain problems. It is a way of thinking; Not for regrets but rather to ponder life and its possibilities. "What if" can help a person in decision making. Every goal starts as a dream. My dream is for greater social freedom because everyday I face problems that the rest of the world may never consider in their whole lifetime. What If? What if there was no electrolysis? What if we couldn't shave for some reason? What if there was no hormone therapy? What if I couldn't continue hormones? What if there was no SRS? What if I can't get SRS? What if there was no make-up? What if I can't wear make-up for some reaso…

Matthew Breen | July 18 2014 "Nevertheless, two words have been conflated with trans identities, and those words have hijacked much of the discourse. The vitriolic conversations over the use of the words tranny and she-male—who can claim ownership over them and who should heed their power to injure as slurs, who is in-group and who is an outsider—have been caustic and divisive." --advicate.com Editor's Letter: Excising That Word

Hi All, I hope it is not seen as inappropriate me posting on here (with other networks/groups I had asked the Admin for guidance on where to post, but this is such a huge board that I wasn’t sure which Admin/Moderators to contact!) So I don’t mean to cause any offence by hijacking the forum, and I hope that some of you will be keen to help. I am currently undertaking post graduate studies in Psychology and have chosen to carry out a research project on transgender issues. I chose this because I am part of the LGBT community myself and feel we are quite under represented as a whole in research, but transgender individuals even more so. Also much of the research …

This is wonderful. The facilitator is just one year older than I, and three years into her transition. So she seems to be the perfect mentor. The group requires an interview, which was no problem... so next Wed. night, I'll meet the group. This first meeting will be at a local cinema where there is comunity/public welcome gathering and a movie for National Transgender Day of Remembrance. I could not have possibly imagined a more appropriate day to introduce myself for the first time in a public forum as a transsexual woman. My official entry into the group will be the following week. They will be able to guide me to all of the local therapist, doctors and …

I am getting ready to start HRT. I want to get the facial feminization and breast augmentation done as soon as possible. I know for a few months my nipples will be sore due to my breasts growing. I know I have to be on HRT for a year and living the role for a year in order to have gender reassignment surgery. I would like to get the other surgeries done over the summer... Is that too soon or impossible? Thanks for any help you can provide...

Hi everyone-I was searching the net for any more information about insurance coverage for us and I came across a "youtube" video. I titled it "transgender insurance" and up popped a vi deo from a guy(FtM) named Aaron. In it he talked about the AMA and a certain resolution that they passed. Resolution 122(A-08). There are alot of whereas paragraphs so I'll be brief. Bassicly they oppose any discrimination on the basis of gender idenity and recognise the seriousness of the disorder and the grave consequences if left untreated. Page 2 there are two sections where they have a resolved, and since I don't know how to do any insertion thing,I'll quote line 15; "RESOLVED, …
